B. Preview statement- As expected, most of you raised your hand. Today I will provide you with information on a very well-known disease that infects thousands of people each year and as a result affects the friends and family members of those people as well.
C. Relevance statement- With this speech, I hope to help all of you add to your previous knowledge on the devastating disease known as cancer.
D. Credibility: Like many of you, I know plenty of people who have come face to face with this battle. In fact, one of my grandfathers have died from it and I have a grandmother and a grandfather currently fighting cancer.

It also organize the body temperature and dispose of waste substances through the glands . out layer of the skin is called the epidermis and the layer underneath is known as the dermis . Skin cancer is type of disease where malignant cancer cells are to be found the outer layer of a person's skin and is the uncontrolled development of the irregular skin cells .It occurs when unrepaired DNA damage to skin cells caused by ultraviolet radiation from sunlight or genetic defects, that lead the skin cells to duplicate rapidly and form malignant tumors. there are three main types of skin cancer which are basal

Today I am going to be choosing diabetes for my medical topic. There are several types of diabetes. There is type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and gestastional diabetes. Our body naturally produce insulin and but sometimes there are cases where are body doesn’t produce enough insulin or does not properly respond to the insulin produced which results in high blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels is not healthy for our bodies because it can lead to us going into a coma. If this is left untreated it can cause very serious health problems including death.
What the recent studies are showing is pretty scary. Our country has the highest number of colon-rectal cancer cases being reported in the entire world. And the disease is equally extensive among males as they are in females. In fact the disease today is killing more Americans than it ever did before. To some it is too embarrassing a subject to talk about. But it must be realized that cancer and deaths resulting from that are much more serious things and should be dealt brushing aside all sorts of inhibitions.
Isn’t it overwhelming to consider the fact that approximately one in eight deaths in the world are due to cancer? To make this more comprehensible, the number of deaths caused by cancer is greater than caused by AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined. Along with the idea that this disease does not have a definite cure is a mind-staggering concept to grasp. If not caught in time, cancer means guaranteed death. These types of thoughts were floating around my head when my mother had told me that my father had mouth cancer.

Colon cancer is a deadly cancer but sometimes you can survive through it if you find out sooner that you are diagnosed with colon cancer. People that are older than 50 are usually diagnosed with colon cancer. Colon cancer can spread different part of your body and cause you a lot of pain. Doctors have found some treatments to fix colon cancer but when you are on stage three or four sometimes there is nothing that they can do. Doctors are working hard to find new treatments and maybe someday colon cancer would not be a cancer that can kill you anymore.

Cancer is a very large issue in the world. Cancer is a sickness that can lead to many life threatening problems and can eventually lead to death. There are many different kinds of cancer that can effect a person without them even knowing it is there. One type of cancer that can be easier to detect would be skin cancer. Skin cancer can be diagnosed by seeing a doctor or dermatologist, if they see an abnormal mole or spot on your skin, they many ask to remove the spot and test it in their laboratory. If the spot or mole comes back positive for skin cancer, they next will run more tests to see if it has spread throughout the body. Kids are meant to be happy, play outside, go to school, and have fun. They aren’t meant to sit in hospitals, losing weight by the pound, carrying around IV poles filled with poison. It’s ridiculous and immature that we don’t have a cure for childhood cancer. The only “treatment” that we have is chemotherapy- a chemical that seems to help fight off cancer. Chemo doesn’t just fight off cancer cells though- it fights off healthy cells in your blood, mouth, digestive system, and hair follicles. The most frustrating thing about childhood cancer is that only 4% of federal funding is exclusively dedicated to childhood cancer research. It is true that more adults get diagnosed with cancer than kids, but does that mean that adults are 96% more important than children? The average age of diagnosis for an adult with cancer is age 67, and the average number of years lost is 15. 15 years are definitely many years, but not that many compared to the average number of years lost for a child- 71. Also, age 67 is a lot older than the average age of diagnoses for a child- age 6. At least the adults get to grow up and have the ability to even have cancer- some of these kids can’t even get through a fifth of their lives.

You're just going to an ordinary doctors appointment, but you hear news that is devastating. “You have cancer and you need to start chemo immediately if you want any chance of surviving,” says the doctor. You don’t really want to do chemotherapy because of the horrible side effects. That would usually be the end of the discussion, but that's not always the case for minors. Doctors go to court and take you out of your home and put you in foster homes until you get admitted into the hospital. You get taken away from the people you love and care about and get placed in a foster home with no idea what's going on. The court approves the chemo and you have to go to the hospital. You are so upset that you run away but return a week later afraid. Then you wake up strapped to the hospital bed with a port surgically inserted into you. This exact story happened to a girl named Cassandra who is a minor at age 17. She has hodgkin lymphoma and left untreated will kill you. With doing chemo there is an 85% chance of surviving. Chemo is when you put poison in your body to kill cancer cells. Nobody wants poison in your body, sure it kills the cancer but it also kills your organs. There are plenty of other options other than chemo but most doctors are almost convinced that the only way to kill cancer cells is to do chemotherapy.
