ll of us sitting in this building have contributed to what may possibly be humanity's end. Mostly all of us know that climate change may drive us humans to extinction do to our own fault. However, about a third of representatives and senators that have joined us today deny the legitimate evidence that supports climate change. Even after famous scientist like, Stephen Hawking, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Carl Sagan and even Pope Francis from the Catholic Church have accepted the occurrence of climate change. I am not here today to restate and explain what climate change is, because all of you have heard it dozens of times. I am here today to persuade and convince all of you that climate change is real and all of you must take action to stop climate change from destroying us and the world before it is too late. …show more content…
It’s a phrase or a similar phrase that all of us have heard. It basically the idea to save a forest, river, lake etc. that we grew up in, in order for future generations to be able to experience those kind of environments. “Well, what's going to happen to them?” you ask. Well, you should be asking “what's happening to them?” instead. Do too climate change, earth's temperatures have risen higher than ever before causing wildfires with the destruction of hundreds of forests around the world, or causing glaciers to melt which is increasing sea levels, thus causing many islands to sink under ocean water taking with it the lives of thousands of people every year. Keep in mind that these are not natural events, according to NASA, 97% of scientist believe in climate change. Therefore, unless you’re a scientist's, please listen to the world’s scientist on what must be done to save our
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
Is climate change real? Are we at fault? Most of us don’t go to bed at night thinking about those questions, but, should we be thinking about those questions? Should we ask ourselves what we are doing to the planet we live on, also, what are we doing to this one body we are given or do we just turn the other cheek and ignore what going on around us? . Should we be blind to all the things going on environmentally, like we did years ago to slavery, or should we stand up and speak out in mass? This is the question that Sandra Steingraber an ecologist, mother, and cancer survivor ask us in her article for an online journal In These Times: Despair Not.
The first part of Paul’s letter to the Romans is very important because during the beginning he gives his credentials so that he may give authenticity to his letter. He declares himself “a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle” Romans 1:1. This is to give himself credibility when he discusses God’s will.
Have you ever pondered the idea of why every year the temperature of our atmosphere rises? I have done tons of research and I am pleased to say I will be sharing my findings with you! Humans are the leading cause of global climate changes but little do they know everyday activities they participate in are the main offenders. From cutting down trees to driving gasoline powered cars, these activities can cause major changes in our global climates! As the very intelligent Bill Gates states “Climate change is a terrible problem, and it absolutely needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority.” Three major problems that lead to climate changes are deforestation, the burning of fossil fuels, and the use of hydro-carbons in aerosol cans.
It has all become so real so quick. Just a few years ago climate change was taken by people as something preventable, or at least reversible. Today there is no doubt it is a major threat not just to humankind but to the whole planet and every living thing on it. In the article “Stepping into the Vacuum,” Jonathan Ellis collected all the latest events, decisions, and reactions concerning the Trump’s decision not to participate in Paris climate accord. In spite of the choice the president of the US had made on June 1st several States, along with leaders of some big companies, and many americans by themselves decided to support the union of counties in their fight against climate change. THere are 321 million of people in this country, sure we can make a noticeable difference, if everyone of us will follow the simple rules: don’t fly on the plane, be more economic with electricity, use less of “one time use” things
Climate change created by human activity is one of, is the single biggest threat to life on earth, sea levels are rising at a rate double then that of the last century,400,000 people die a year from climate change related causes, and if we don’t do anything about it within 25 years, millions of people will suffer from disease, fall into poverty, and suffer from extreme hunger. Despite all the evidence, one of our country’s major political party refuses to acknowledge that climate change is man made or a threat.
Global climate change is a phenomenon widely accepted by the public in today’s society. A survey from Yale revealed that 63% of Americans believe that global warming is currently happening (Leiserowitz, 2013). And although the public has shown to misunderstand the scientific field, in the case of climate change, science supports their beliefs. Now, a majority of scientists accept that extreme changes are occurring in the world. Evidence is showing that worldwide climate change is real, and the consequences will cause adverse effects to all forms of life.
It is very scary that there are representatives elected into Congress that reject climate change or its degree of severity, and won’t listen to the scientists who have dedicated their research to this problem. Even some of those who do believe about climate change to a degree, say that it is too expensive of a problem to handle or that we shouldn’t worry about our country instead we should be worried about China who is more of an offender. This relates to the “Up and down with ecology – the “issue-attention cycle” “ article that we went over in class; in that once people discuss the cost of something it deters people’s interest (Downs, 1972). This is what some of the Republicans in Congress are trying to do – take the focus off of climate change by saying that it is too costly or deflecting the
PURPOSE: To persuade my audience that we must take action now to control air pollution
Save the snow day Remember waking up with snow covering the ground and getting the call that school is canceled? Now, what if you woke up and had to go to school? This is a typical point of contention among students, parents, and schools. There are many reasons why we should continue to have snow days. According to Alonzo Kittrels from The Philadelphia Tribune, snow days are a more recent development.
As I am sure that you are aware, Hurricane Irma has recently just hit South Florida. It has come to my attention that Delta has raised their airline prices significantly as people were trying to flee from a disastrous storm that had the potential to wipe out everything they owned and worked for. As someone who helped run a family owned business, I know first-hand that making money is the most important thing on a successful businessman’s mind. However, I firmly believe that there is a line that should not be crossed in business. When a company starts putting wealth and profit over the lives of our brothers and sisters in the United States, a country that we all share and live in together, there is a problem that needs to be addressed and not
There are a lot of people around the world who are deprived of the most important essentials to survival and development.
Many people dedicate their lives to spread the message about climate change being real. Even though some change in the climate is natural, many events that have happened cannot be explained away by nature. Climate change is causing damage to the world that is completely irreversible. Nasa says, “Most scientists say it 's very likely that most of the warming since the mid-1900s is due to the burning of coal, oil and gas. Burning these fuels is how we produce most of the energy that we use every day” (nasa). The energy that we use daily makes our life easier, but it hurts the earth. Why does the government still allow us to use these things? Science has shown us that sea levels are rising in many parts of the world. Warm weather is causing glaciers to melt which results in the sea level rising. Earth 's average temperature has been rising for the last century in a half; and there has also been a steady rise in ocean temperature since 1969. It is said that climate control is man made and it is dangerous. On the other side of the argument, many people do not believe that climate change is real. They argue that their has not been a big temperature change in almost two decades. They also bring up the point of there not being enough data in the climate history to draw the conclusion of what is happening in the climate now is abnormal. Scientist started to record climate change around the 1800’s which many people believe is not enough data to do a comparison. Another reason some believe that climate change is not real is because of some instances where a scientist predicts a date of a significant climate change never happens. Rinkesh writes, “ For example:- Al Gore predicted that all Arctic ice would be gone by 2013. But, on contrary Arctic ice is up by 50% since 2012” (conserve-energy-future). Many people find that these reasons are why climate change is not
Background and Audience Relevance: There are always conversations about our planet. We see our earths glaciers melting, weather temperature rising, and pollution affecting our resources. But for some reasons we tend to look away. We should be more aware of this potential event and I’m here to inform everyone about what actually is global warming and the effects of it.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's Ted Talk, presented by me, Vivien Collin. My job as a environmentalist is to deeply investigate severe impacts of climate change. Firstly, I would like to start with a simple question, does everyone here know what climate change is? As we can all feel, everything is heating up---the ocean, the atmosphere and even Melbourne. I hate to say this, but the Australian government is struggling to deal with climate change.
