Going to school is very crucial. We got to school to get an education and to learn something new. In the United States we have public schooling, that means free school! Waking up early in the morning can be a hassle, but you're getting an education for free. Some kids would love to have the chance at an education like the children in America. Instead of enjoying the time and being thankful for what we've been given the opportunity to do, we have people making a joke of it. I often hear the phrase "I am too cool for school." I didn't know anyone could be cool enough that an education wasn't good enough for them. Let's take a second and define this word "cool," because I am unsure of how this is even remotely possibly. Cool is defined …show more content…
by Google as "fashionably attractive or impressive." So, just because you are impressive the education you are provided isn't good enough?
That's where our society has gone wrong. I hear children saying this "too cool for school" statement after they hear someone else say it. They want the acceptance of their peers, so they say what the other person wants to hear. Well, guess what? If you actually believe this statement than you ave it backwards. School is actually too cool for you. School gives you an education and you learn material that you can use later on in life. That's pretty cool if you ask me. Something that really stands out the most is that many of the famous stars we tend to call "cool" have had an education. YES, they went to school too. I recently saw a picture of Kylie Jenner with her diploma in her hand and she looked very happy to have accomplished that. Oh wait, Zendaya Coleman, the famous Disney Channel star made sure to post her graduation picture on Instagram. These stars and many more were ecstatic to have had an education. If they are "cool" and still loved and finished school, then why are people saying they are too cool for it? The answer to that is that someone started a trend and society thought it was alright to follow it. Don't follow in someone else's
footsteps, make your own path. Schooling is one of the greatest things we have hear in the U.S.A so take the opportunity and have fun with it. Learn something, meet new people, join clubs, play sports, and most importantly have fun. You are never too cool for school, its impossible.
Because the education system does not relate classwork or homework to the lives of students, they do not see how writing essays or solving math problems can help them in everyday life. “By the time Roadville children reach high school they write off school as having nothing to do with what they want in life, and they fear that school success will threaten their social relations with people whose company they value. This is a familiar refrain for working class children” (Attitude 119). As students begin to realize how low their potential is within school, they chose to cut school out of their life and start working. These students do not understand how they can benefit from what they are learning. “One woman talks of the importance of a ‘fitting education’ for her three children so they can ‘do better’, but looks on equanimity as her sixteen-year-old son quits school, goes to work in a garage, and plans to marry his fifteen-year-old girlfriend ‘soon’” (Attitude 118). Students are settling for less than what they can actually achieve to have, just because they see no purpose of being in school, and believe they can do better without the help of the education system. Even parents are not actually supporting and encouraging their child to stay in school. “Although Roadville parents talk about the value of school, they often act as if they don’t believe it”

School allows many opportunities to grow as a person, and show your personality. Within class I am always an active participant, I always add my input in discussion, and work to answers questions. I have always maintained good grades I was placed in advanced courses beginning in fourth grade and within all 3 years of highschool I have earned a weighted
Students should be required to get a diploma or a GED because of better job opportunities, go to college, and have a job that has higher wages. So, students that are still in high school it would be best if you stayed in school and get your high school
High school is one of those milestones in an individual’s life that will be remembered for a long time to come. Whether one’s experiences are positive and allow him to find his purpose in life or whether they are so terrible that his view of education is tainted forever, what happens in high school affects how one’s future will turn out. Leon Botstein, author of “Let Teenagers Try Adulthood,” states that the traditional high school system should be abolished because it is not benefitting teenagers. He states that cliques of popularity and athleticism and teachers who care more about money than education stand in the way of proper learning for teenagers. Botstein further argues that school stifles students creativity and that they really do not want to be in school. His argument that the traditional high school setting should be abolished is somewhat justified on the fact that cliques make schooling experiences difficult; however, his statement that children’s creativity is stifled, they are bored in high school, and that they are ready to be adults at a young age is invalid.
If you were living under a rock in the 90's you may have never heard of Freaknik. Freaknik was an annual spring break meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, primarily of students from historically black colleges and universities. The festival attracted thousands of people and became one of the most talked about events of EVERY year. However after complaints from city leaders and officials Freaknik was banned in Atlanta....which is why we're bringing it to JAMAICA! Come see what all the fuss is about! Be a voyeur OR a participant! It's really up to

Throughout the world, students are encouraged to attend high school and continue their education. However, many students find it worthless and become uninspired. They blame the faculty, school policies, and fellow students, when they should be blaming themselves. Unchallenging course work is most likely a sign that the student isn’t taking a hard enough course. During my high school experience, students had the opportunity to take college courses through our high school. This gave the more advanced students a chance to practice the same routine as “normal” students, but still challenge and educate themselves. Abolishing high school would not solve any problems in our educational system. There are many ways to improve upon our school system; however, we need to start at the beginning.
It is 2am and you wish you had more time for sleeping. You have had a long day between school and work. Probably tired and overwhelm of all the homework that you have to turn in this week. Sometimes you may ask your self the question, “Is it worth the effort I am making to go to college?” I am sure that some of you have had those days were you wish you can stay at home watching TV, playing video games, sleeping, and not worrying about studying for a test. How many of you have felt this way at least once this semester? Turn around, as you can see you are not the only person that feels the same way. However, I will like to tell you the reasons why you should graduate from college. Today, I will talk about the knowledge you get from going
“Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. These are some very wise and empowering words, I must say. I believe many teenagers in today’s generation are most of the time wearing a mask. A mask that is made up of what the world wants them to be, a mask that they think may protect them from not allowing others in, a mask that was built from peer pressure, a mask that was formed from bullying. There’s always a story behind someone’s mask, as I call it. Most of the time teens nowadays are afraid to be themselves, to be individuals, due to the way they think people will perceive them. I do have to say though, that those that have ripped their masks away are the ones that have truly become individuals. Of course,
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” (Dr.Seuss). Society often thinks of peer pressure as a negative implement. Often times the community imagines peer pressure as teen influencing one another to experiment with drugs, alcohol, and sexual intercourse. But really all peer pressure is, is the encouragement of changing values and behaviors of an individual. Peer pressure can be thought of as positive for teens, because it allows and individual to become a leader in an environment, strong encouragement to work hard in school, and lead a healthy lifestyle.

...ke school something that the students can look back on and think that it was a meaningful time where they learned a lot about life instead of a time where they thought they would have a break down because they got a low score on a test. School should be a time to make mistakes in a safe environment that they can learn from, not a place that they are petrified to make a mistake for fear of retribution on their grade cards. Its time to change the school system to save future students from becoming stress crazed and to let them know that there is more to this world than a grade card and in the long run it is a very small fraction of life.
At the beginning of one’s journey of gaining more knowledge, most children don’t mind school, for it is a change of environment for them. The majority of elementary school adolescents even enjoy school to some degree. As time wears on, we usually, and sadly, begin to see a change of heart. Children become fatigued from school and therefore don’t take pleasure in going anymore. Maybe their teachers didn’t teach them in the way that they learn most efficiently, or maybe students just become bored with the whole “school scene” itself. Whatever the case, it is apparent that by the time they reach high school, their interest for learning alone has died out.
