"It's clear that a college degree long ago supplanted the highschool diploma as a minimum qualification for entry into the skill level market, and there is abundant evidence that people with a college degree earn more money than people without one" (Delbanco 506). In our economical system the presence of education is not only relevant but pertanent to being able to navigate through the systems put in place. It is hard enough for individual who do have some form of formal education to obtain employment because of the increasing competition in the job markets, let alone for a person who does not have any formal education. In the system that is in place, a person without a college degree is equivalent to the square peg in a round hole. The obtainment of a degree usually determines the difference between the individual's path to a job or a career. Certain

In “Should the Obama Generation Drop Out?” Charles Murray talks about how a college degree now days, is looked at higher than it should be when it comes to meeting the qualifications for a job. Most jobs that pay over minimum wage will require you to have a college degree, making it very difficult for people that either can’t afford it or do not believe in it, to get a reliable well paying job. Like Barack Obama said “It’s what you can do that should count when you apply for a job, not where you learned to do it”(Murray 97); a large amount of people have the skills for a job but do not have the degree to show for, making them not qualified for the job. Companies will not even give you an interview if your resume does not have any type of degree on it. That situation makes life very unfair for multiple individuals. There should be some kind of certification test for applicant to take to see if he or she meets the skills needed for the job. The benefits of discarding the bachelor’s degree as a job qualification would be huge for both employers and job applicants. Therefo...
Those unwilling to learn would rather not be in school anyway. So they finish high school without any intention of going to college and getting a decent job, then what? Then the dropouts are destined for an impoverished lifestyle, a living dependent on welfare (funded by our tax dollars) - a life of drug-dealing, prostitution, violence, and ultimate despair. It is better to take them out of school firsthand and give them something better to do, something that will benefit the rest of society. Enslaving the jackasses will motivate the rest of the students and make great examples. These ex-students will take part in the most grueling labor possible, such as work at factories, plantations, or mines, early on so that ...
First, employers find it hard to employ people that lack a high school diploma or general education development (GED) because they lack motivation and drive to finish what they started. Because the individuals not having the necessary credentials, they end up with low paying jobs or unemployed, relying on public assistance to see them through. Often times these low paying positions consist of part-time work, only giving the employee approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. This is a considerable wage deduction from a full-time position of 40+ hours per week. Now let us imagine the rate of pay for the individuals. The employing state determines the minimum pay rates and rarely will this be enough to sustain a household. According to IES national center for education statistics, “ The median income of persons ages 18 through 67 who ...
A high school diploma is important to my future like it is for many individuals who have goals and aspirations to succeed in life. A high school diploma is a foundation for basic education before going to college and it's a great accomplishment not too many people get to have. With a high school diploma many educational and professional opportunities will be available to me. I'll have better long term economic outcomes than individuals who do not have a high school diploma.
When High-school graduates think that obtaining a B.A. will help them get higher-paying job, they are only narrowly correct. Murray Charles (245) states that “some companies will not consider you at all if you do not have a college degree”. He also stated that many jobs will not even interview you if you do not hold a B.A. degree, having a B.A. degree help enhance your pay”. Why does having a B.A. produce that result? According to Charles, for some jobs, the economic premium for a degree is produced by the actual education that has gone into getting the degree, Murray Charles (245). Charles also stated that “lawyers, physicians, and engineers can earn high incomes deploying knowledge and skills that take years to acquire”. He believes that having a degree in law, medicine, and/or engineering still signify competence in those knowledges and skills, Murray Charles (245). Obtaining a college education affects you in many different ways and income is one, not going to college and receiving a degree will leave you working a minimum wage paying job like fast food or retail because you will not have received the knowledge or skills to do anything

Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
