Going to Mars Although going to Mars is a long trip away, there are many debates on whether humans should follow through with the trip or not. Going to Mars will not help, it would only hurt the world. Robots are fully capable of doing this job instead of humans. It is a waste of money, and although looking for life is a possibility, it is a dangerous trip, and humans do not have the technology to move on with this trip. A Robonaut is a highly-constructed robot to simulate an astronaut. It has arms and legs, just like a real astronaut. The Robonaut is on wheels, the legs are in a base and the wheels are there to control the robot easier. “Robonaut 2 (R2), R2 is made up of multiple component technologies and systems -- vision systems, image recognition systems, sensor integrations, tendon hands, control algorithms, and much more.” (Badger 1). The Robonaut 2 has four different speeds and since it is made to mimic humans, changing its air filter will be necessary. Due to the advanced design, changing the filter will not be a problem. “The technology hasn’t been fully developed yet, the astronauts on Mars will not be able to communicate with the Earth because the will be on the far side of the moon.” (DBriers 5). What is the point if we cannot communicate with our astronauts? Another way we could spend the money is to wait longer on the trip and use the money to advance in technology. “Rather than spending hundreds of billions of dollars to hurl tons toward Mars using current technology, why not take a decade, however much time is required, researching new launch systems and advanced propulsion?” (Easterbrook 973). In this article, Lind devotes most of his time arguing of why human spaceflight should end. He provides very little evidence for any benefits of using robotic probes. He does describe a few examples of where they are going, but he doesn’t give any information on what the advantage is of using robotic probes rather than humans. Lind has a very sarcastic tone in this argument, and he doesn’t give enough credit to the astronauts. In conclusion, I believe that this article is not written well, and has minuscule evidence to why spaceflight should end, which ironically is the title of the article.

Would you want to live on Mars? Some would say yes, others no, I am against going to Mars and think that we should stick to Earth and put our time, money, and energy into fixing this planet. I will show you all the reason why we can not go to that red planet.
The first question is, why should we go to Mars? What are the advantages of traveling to Mars in the first place? One reason could be that it would help increase life across our universe, (Mars One 2017), Or to have another planet to live on if the Earth dies. Increasing life across our universe would help us spread out our population and prosper as the human race.
The best argument for exploring and colonizing on Mars can be summed up in one colloquial phrase, “don’t put all of your eggs into one basket.” To elaborate; all of humanity is on Earth. Earth is enormous, but it is still just one place. A medium sized earthquake in Japan was enough to cause millions of dollars in damage and end thousands of lives. And when Mt. Going to the moon and Mars is excellent, but that’s already been done. Time for something else to happen. If NASA’s budget was increased, it could be pushed to find other habitable planets and new resources to help out here on Earth. With more funding, NASA can build a manned base on the moon while finding a way to Mars.
Who knows what kind of opportunities can come from Mars? We can use the many resources that have already been found on this planet, it could help us in many ways beyond space exploration, and it could even be a new place for us to live. That’s why I believe that the government should fund space exploration to Mars.
Colonizing Mars, it seems like a distant achievement. Some say impossible, some say it will happen soon. Since Elon Musk has entered this field of exploration colonization of Mars has seemed even more plausible. Still, problems have surfaced to make this much more difficult than it has to be. This makes some believe this to be impossible or unlikely for the time. Despite what side you are on we can both agree that we want to advance in space exploration.
Faster space travel is needed to make any new deep-space discoveries. There really are cost-effective options for space travel.
Not only that, but our population has been growing at an extremely alarming rate. At our current rate, our species may not be able to survive for much longer. This is where space exploration comes in. With the recent discovery of water on Mars, and the finding of Kepler-78b, it is possible that mankind can prolong our existence. The possibility of interstellar travel seems to be an option, or even a necessity, if we wish to continue living.
The recent events regarding the NASA Mars probes have renewed the debate of reinstalling manned space missions with the objectives of exploring and landing on foreign worlds such as the moon and the red planet Mars, rather than the use of solely robotic craft and machines. It is my belief that we should return to the days of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, those of manned lunar landings and manned space exploration. Robots simply cannot and should not be allowed to be the sole means of visiting these worlds, nor should humans only be able to witness new findings second hand through the use of computers and machines. It is human nature to be normally curious of one’s surroundings, and it is important that we send one of our own to new worlds. The effects that past missions have had on the world’s people, as well as our political and cultural climates are another valid reason for flesh instead of metal to lay claim to space. Also, the limitless applications and new education that manned flights can bring to us from on site human interactions could lead to another technological and industrial revolution like the original lunar programs had done for us during the Gemini and Apollo programs.
Scientists have been working on space travel for decades and Mars is the most logical first step toward humans being an interplanetary species. We don't just need one nation to be selfish and spread itself to other planets no this needs to be and experience for the world. There are several reasons to go to other planets and mars is just the tip of that iceberg. We need to go to Mars in case of a catastrophic event, overpopulation, and it has a lot of resources, for scientific development.
Mankind has always been fascinated with exploring the unknown. From sailing to distant lands to someday setting foot on other planets, the spirit of exploration is the same. Bur now with the current economic situation and the high cost of sending people to space, NASA is being looked at as a way to free up some much needed funds. Although, there is many problems here on planet Earth that need addressing, the benefits of space exploration far out weight the disadvantages. Space exploration has given us more advanced technology, advances in the medical field, and a boost to the economy and these facts cannot be disputed.
There are many reasons that space exploration should continue. If Earth ever becomes too overpopulated or over polluted, then perhaps people can move to Mars. The world population in 1970 was approximately 4 billion people, and is currently nearly 6 billion people. The world population in 2015 is estimated to be 7 billion people. There is a possibility that there are useful resources on Mars. Scientists have found ice and some other clues, such as craters, volcanoes, and valleys, that have led them to believe that there was once life on Mars, and they believe that sometime in the future, should planet Earth need to be evacuated, humans will be able to live there (Jakosky 142). Many of the rocks on Mars appear to have been formed by gasses, breathable by humans and other creatures. A process called terraforming will allow astronauts to make use of the resources that are on the planet and create an atmosphere that will support life. One method for terraforming is that scientists would convert the gaseous rocks back into gasses, and use gas-eating organisms to eat the gas, which results in the formation of other gasses. If these organisms continue the cycle, then Mars would have a stable atmosphere for humans to live in (Getz 39).
Most people think that the costly downside to funding space exploration is a reason to avoid spending money on sciences and instead spend it on problems here on earth, but such funding for space exploration actually promotes economical as well as scientific benefits. Space exploration is an important expenditure for the high cost because of the potential for numerous benefits such as the possibility to find useful resources to cultivate, space exploration and satellites produce many thousands of jobs in our economy, and it creates and discovers newer and better technologies through research and development.
