NASA: Should The Government Fund NASA?

To fund, or not to fund; That is the question. When it comes to funding by the government, NASA gets the short end of the stick. Without this funding and support from the government, the search for discoveries that could further help the world and finding out more about space itself would be put to a halt. The question isn’t whether NASA should get more money, the question is what the company would do with it once the budget is increased. According to Leonard Richards, Laura Riggan, and Preston Martin, “it’s alright to fund NASA as long as the company is doing something worthwhile with the money.” Going to the moon and Mars is excellent, but that’s already been done. Time for something else. If NASA’s budget was increased, it could be With more funding, NASA can build a manned base on the moon while finding a way to Mars. In going along with this plan, there will be more demand for scientists and engineers alike. Engineers will build the manned bases and vessels, while scientists occupy them and gather data to benefit the world. In this way, NASA will be able to see if it is possible to make Mars the next “Earth”, making plans to help make that reality if this does happen. “Through space exploration and innovative thinking, NASA has injected science and inspiration into our culture and projected us into the future” would have to end up working with the Russians. “With our relations shaky with Russia, I don’t think that’d be the best idea” (Martin). There’s no telling how well Russian and American astronauts would get along together, not to mention what would have to be paid to Russia just to go into space. In reality there’s no point in paying Russia for what could be done by NASA itself. Plus, there’s no telling how the U.S. will know that Russia won’t take all the credit for any new discoveries made by American astronauts and scientists. To keep things easy and hasslefree, the government should fund NASA more and to keep interest alive in its programs alive. Besides, the government still would be shelling out money anyways, perhaps not as much, but what would be the point when NASA can do it with government help? Think about NASA and all it's done for the better of humanity. Without it being funded, there is hardly anything to fuel any future interest in the space program nor would our world learn anymore about itself. NASA needs this funding to stay alive, to answer the world’s questions, and show everyone how it important it is to keep NASA
