Many people participate in the State Fair every year, regardless of age, but for some this is their way of life. Waking up early in the morning to feed their animals, fitting them for the next show, waiting for your chance to show off how great your animal is, no matter what the judge says, and then shaking the hand of the judge when they select your animal for Grand/Reserve Champion. This may be short lived for some, but people like me who show at fairs and point shows, and then later go on to the State Fair have learned this is a daunting task to make sure your animals are happy, fed, and are also show ready before you walk into the arena. For some people, showing is a stressful situation to be in, but I find it rather refreshing and rewarding because I personally feel relaxed around livestock. Some of the rewards of showing is all of the friends you make from all of the different shows you go to, and then eventually all meeting back up again at the State Fair. From all of the friends I …show more content…
Responsibility consists of caring for all of your animals whether you are showing them or not, i.e. giving your animals food and clean water. Cleaning and fitting your animals before the next show takes quite a bit of time, or some time management. You need to determine when you need to wake up, get yourself ready, and then figuring out how long it will take you to wash and fit all of your animals before the show. When you fit your animals you need to stay organized by knowing what you need for adhesives, conditioners, combs, etc. You also need to know the show order for you animals, and you also need to cooperate with your animal while in and out of the show ring. Cooperation is another key point because you and your animal need to get along while in the show ring so the judge can get a crystal clear view of your animal, and this really comes in handy when you do
Raising and showing pigs will teach you so many valuable lessons that you cannot get anywhere else, so following a few steps to ensure that the pig is properly taken care of is well worth it in the end! Although raising livestock does take a lot of time, money, and equipment, it will all pay off well in the end! You should always consider what to look for in a show pig, how to properly care for it throughout the year, and how to show it at your local county fair or jackpot show!
The viewbook was compiled by the Architectural Commission for the fair, with the text by Allen D. Albert, an honorary secretary, and forward by Rufus C. Dawes, the president. The book, approximately nine by twelve inches, and consisting of 64 pages of vibrant images of the fair, depicts the major buildings, exhibits and attractions. These images are mostly watercolors, sometimes enhanced photographs or cartoons. Th...
My fondest childhood memories involve the Livermore Rodeo, and I simply cannot remember a day in my life where I was not completely in love with this great rodeo. The 2nd weekend of June has always been my favorite time of year and from a very early age, I wanted to help in any way I could. My whole day was easily made anytime I was given a task that would allow me to help out the wonderful directors and volunteers I dreamed of being when I grew up. Being apart of the group that makes Livermore Rodeo possible was just about the coolest thing little me could dream of… besides being Miss Livermore Rodeo Queen of course! So I started helping with little tasks like tying bows on silverware for the queen dinner, moving chairs, wrapping hot dogs, and trying to sell tickets to all my friends at school. Then a day came where I was lucky enough to be apart of S.P.U.R.S. I had already know that I wanted to spend the rest of my life helping to keep the sport of rodeo and the western way of life alive, S.P.U.R.S gave me the opportunity to start helping out my most favorite rodeo in greater ways at a younger age. Whether in the spotlight as Miss Livermore Rodeo Queen, or behind the scenes cleaning up after an event on a hot summer day, it was, is , and always will be my honor and my pleasure to serve rodeo in any way I can. If I am chosen as the recipient
My family and I recently visited the State Fair of Texas. It is the biggest
Grand champion! I was riding Fancy, a paint horse, at the Dallas County Fair in the Horsemanship class. In this class, I had to complete a pattern and it was judged on how well each horse and rider completed the pattern. The judge felt that Fancy and I performed best and awarded me with a big purple ribbon and a trophy with a horse on top. At the end of the fair, all of the grand champions were announced before the races. That was the final reward for successfully showing a horse in competitions.
Rodeo is a sport with long American traditions and loved by many spectators and participants. Past history has shown that rodeo needed to make way for a new era of riders and trainers with a larger emphasis on the welfare of the animals and not be discontinued or banned entirely. Today’s rodeos do not present a danger to the animals because the animals are well-cared for and protected, rodeos have strict rules and the stock are treated as prized animals.
Most people take a hose, brush, soap, towels, show sticks, feed, medicine, and their show clothes. Once the animal gets to the show it must be washed to get all of the mud off. Depending on if it is a cow, pig, or a goat it may need to be dried using a special blow dryer. Then, the hair of the animal must be brushed correctly. Once the animal is ready, the exhibitor must get ready. The show attire for a pig, goat, and beef cow show is blue jeans, button up flannel or polo, and boots. For dairy cows the exhibitor wears white pants and a white button up with boots. Having everything prepared ahead of time helps out a
During, the whole rodeo season I looked forward to going to the State Finals. I didn't attend the finals as a participant, but as a spectator. As President of the "Saddle Bronc Fan Club" for my friend Cole, there was no way I would miss this experience. We both had been looking forward to this day for a long time.
Throughout the past few decades, animals have been mistreated and in some cases killed in live entertainment facilities. (APNM 2006) Organizations like People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (“PETA”) and other animal right protecting organizations, try to protect and restore basic rights to the animals. Circuses, aquariums, and zoos have flaws in their systems, which allow for the animals to be mistreated. (PETA 2009) Animals should not be forced to do any tricks, stunts, or any harmful or life-shortening forms of entertainment nor be housed in inappropriate surroundings merely for the amusement of humans.
The fair brought many visitors from around the world and the United States together, giving Americans the opportunity to showcase their lifestyles and
Valley Fair offers me a day of no worries. Once I walk into the park, all my worries drift away. Whenever my family goes to Valley Fair, I let myself forget all my worries and fears for a day. I do not care what my future holds, but care only about what I am doing at that point in time. Valley Fair is my haven!
Preview: So today, I would like to attempt to persuade you that circuses should stop using animals, with a ...
Responsibilities for dogs come in all different forms, but these are just a couple of ways that I have to specifically take care of my dog. Dogs make great companions, can be assistance dogs and help people with disabilities, and even protect a household. Hearing dogs can be the ears for a person that is hard of hearing, seeing dogs can be the eyes for someone who is legally blind, and service dogs can be an alert system for someone with epilepsy. Although, these dogs are put through a lot of special training for a specific need. More often than not, an assistance dog is adopted but also donated to someone who is handicapped.
Circus animals are still wild animals, captive born or not, they still retain the needs to roam freely and socialize. They also never lose instinct to defend themselves. America, a country that has deemed animal cruelty a crime, endangered species protected and partakes in extreme publ...
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.
