Softball is a very exciting sport, it’s my favorite sport because it’s harder than people think, and I like a challenge. There are 9 positions for this sport and all positions must be filled. There is normally 12-15 girls to a team. Some may be good at this sport and some may not be that good but it doesn’t matter, as long as you love playing. I have been play softball for almost 13 years. When I was young my grandpa got me into playing and ever since I loved it. Softball is not just a game to me it’s a passion. Over the years of playing I became great at almost every position. The only position I am not that good at is pitching but that okay because I am not a pitcher. You can put me anywhere on the field, I won’t complain. But the position I love to play more than others is catcher. I love the rush of making sure the ball doesn’t go past me or making sure the other team doesn’t advance to the next base. …show more content…
Softball is not just a sport you play because someone is making you, you won’t enjoy it and you’ll ruin it for other people on the team.
It’s a sport you have to enjoy, you have to love getting down in the dirt to be safe on a base. You have to love running fast so that you make it home to score. You have to love picking up that bat and swinging as hard as you can to get the ball as far as you can. I love all these things about softball. I even enjoy “taking one for the team” which means you may get out at but you helped advance your teammate to the next base. Softball is my favorite sport because it’s a difficult sport and I really enjoy playing
it.
The big question for people who don’t play this question is really, what is softball? Softball is a little bit more modified version of baseball but softball is played on a smaller field, with a larger ball, played with 7 innings instead of 9 and with underarm pitch in a circular motion. Now that we know what the basic part of softball is let’s talk about the equipment. The equipment used to play softball is a bat about waist level give or
A person that would like to play professional ball will choose baseball because there is a professional big league, such as the St. Louis Cardinals, but in softball that opportunity is not available. Baseball is played on more levels than softball. It is played on the professional, international, Olympic, college, high school, and little league levels. If a player is fortunate enough to make it to the professional level, he can make millions of dollars.
Baseball/softball was, is, and always will be one of the most popular sports of all time. Homeruns, stealing second base, and spectacular plays and catches on the playing field will continue to catch the eyes of millions of people around the globe. Today I’m going to give you a brief demonstration of how the game of baseball/softball is played.
I have been playing softball for about ten years, but prior to that I played baseball. However, the game of softball is on a whole different level. Softball plays require much more speed, and there is a greater possibility of getting injured. The game of softball is more hazardous and fast-paced than baseball.
Softball, what is it to people. Most people see it as just a game others a way of life and many others believe in something else. Even if you don’t play softball or any sport at that matter. We can all agree that when we find our passion we find meaning to it. It can impact your life in a good or bad way.
The first reason is, softball players have less time to react to the ball while batting and fielding. Softball fields are closer and smaller than baseball fields. Baseball infields are 16,700 feet and softball infields are only 7,200 feet. This leaves softball players in the infield, outfield and the batters with less time to react to a pitch or a hit. The distance from home plate to the pitcher's mound in softball is 43 feet while in baseball it is 60 feet. Sarah Trifoso plays for the Niagra Purple Eagles
I have been playing softball ever since the tee ball days. It has been a sport that I have grown to love and couldn’t imagine not playing. The way I have grown up playing softball has changed tremendously from the time it was first created in 1887 on Thanksgiving Day. The first time this game was even thought of was when a group of excited men threw a boxing glove at another man who swung a broom trying to hit the boxing glove, like a bat hitting a ball. This group of men, who were all apart of the Farragut boat club, decided they would turn this into a game of their own and softball was born.
I tried out and made my highschool team. While playing on my highschool team I joined a travel team for the Brooklyn Cyclones while still playing for my church’s high school team. My passion for softball could not be taken away from me. Even when I failed, I did not give up on my dream. Giving up on my dream of being successful in softball would be equivalent to letting down my past self who was just a little girl who fell in love with softball. Playing softball was my parents way of wearing me out, but it was my way of getting away from the problems of the real world and into a world of my own. Between two white chalk lines nothing else mattered, but playing the game I fell in love with when I was only ten years old. On the field, I was able to feel pure bliss. Playing softball for seven years has not only given me joy, but it has also taught me life skills that I use from day to day. I learned to work as a team to achieve a common goal, to communicate with others better, I have learned to cherish my wins while accepting my losses and I have learned no matter what happens in life, you always have to put your heart and soul into everything you
Baseball is a very well known sport and often known as “America’s pastime” and softball is highly similar, but with a few key differences. Many people just assume that the sport of baseball is more difficult than softball, but don’t actually know the specific parts of each of the two. Also, if you’ve never played one or the other sport, you shouldn’t be assuming anything at all in the first place. Although many assume one may be harder than the other, baseball and softball both have particular factors which make them both complex in their own way.
I have played softball for four years, Softball has always come to me naturally. It was my third year playing when I moved to Friendswood, I was new to everything. During this year I met a girl named Shaye Brockwell. She was really nice to me and we hung out many times. Then her dad started coaching and I got on their team the next year and everything changed.
As Paige and I walked across the field towards our team I felt euphoric. Four long years of work, sweat, and dedication had led up to this night. It was the perfect end to my senior year of softball. The scoreboard just beyond the mass of sweaty, screaming softball players read 15-0. This was the final score of the district championship game, a game my team had never won before. The applause and cheers of the fans echoed in my ears for hours afterward
Whether it is the angle needed to swing the bat, the force needed to kick the ball, or the speed needed to run, physics is present in every aspect of every sport. Players become aware at a young age that physics will be a part of their lives for as long as they play a sport, even if they are not aware of it. From the moment a child starts a sport, the many different methods used to improve revolve around physics. Softball is a prime example of this. Physics plays a role in softball because every aspect of this sport requires a certain momentum and force. Players must aim to achieve the skill to be able to use the physics behind the sport to their advantage. Through the use of hitting, catching, and throwing a softball, there is the need to
Baseball has been in my life since I was a little boy. I've been playing since I could walk and haven't missed a season yet. I've been to many minor league games that are not professional but players in these leagues can become professional over time. I feel as if I am very capable of going far with it. I'd like to play all the way throughout college and hope I get noticed by a scout. Once I'm done with college if I haven't been drafted into the MLB then I'd probably try to play for the minor leagues in hopes of being noticed there. Ultimately my dream is to be drafted into the MLB and play professional baseball.
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.
This was different from baseball because, as opposed to the almost silent baseball game, the softball game was much louder and gave audience members the opportunity to get excited and pumped during the game. Whether it was communication during plays between players or the support and chants that could be heard from the dugouts I really enjoyed how vocal all the women are in order to support their fellow team members. The chants that I heard were nothing but encouraging and positive. These chants enhanced my experience because they showed that no matter the score the women are proud of one another and encouraging, they are stronger than their
