Have you ever had to take care of an animal? Well if you have then you probably know the difficulties of raising and taking care of that animal. You have to feed, water, and care for your animal like you would any type of animal from a house pet to livestock . Even though that is a vital part of raising an animal you also have to follow the rules and regulations that the state has set. You have a limit on how many animals you may have. For instance in Ava city limits you are only aloud to have three cats or dogs. Pet owners who currently exceed this number of allowed cats or dogs will be allowed to maintain their current number of pets until the ownership of said cats and dogs cease. Also there are certain animals you can not raise like cattle , sheep, or any free range fowls like chickens, geese, or …show more content…
You must get your animal the right vaccinations. Vaccination protects the welfare of animals by preventing or reducing disease, which can reduces the pain and suffering often associated with illnesses. You must not overdrive, overwork, torture, cruelly beat, needlessly wound or kill, or carry or transport in any vehicle or other conveyance in an inhumane manner to any animal, or cause any of these acts to be done. There are many difficulties of raising animals in Missouri especially when you own multiple types of animals like on a farm or just in general. Many of Missourians today own livestock like cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and horses. Some of these people are considered farmers and their main purpose is to raise healthy animals in order to make a living and to feed the population. Farmers also have some laws and regulations that they have to follow. Some of these laws are that they can't have any animals running at large. If you have any farm animal running at large they can be killed or they can cause people to have accidents or get seriously injured. Another difficulty of raising an animal is having people

These regulations also cover issues such as the sex and size of the animal and the

Thousands of animals are put to sleep each year due to not having any available homes for them to be adopted. According to Jennifer Sexton and Tom Warhol in Domestic Animal Overpopulation, “The average female cat can produce two litters of six kittens per year, a female dog can produce one litter of six or more puppies per year, making pet overpopulation a significant problem.” Animal overpopulation is costing money and you can help the pets with spay and neutering programs. A new solution is mandatory contracts for breeders and spay and neuter programs. This paper will talk about spay and neuter programs, contracts for breeders, and why some people don’t think animal overpopulation is a problem. Thankfully there are solutions to this issue of animal overpopulation.

When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I
For thousands of years scientist have been performing vivisections on animals to find information on new chemicals, drugs, and vaccines. Vivisection is when scientist perform dissections among living animals mostly for the purpose of educating and retrieving information. Experimenting on animals has become the tool that has helped us comprehend the body functions of an animal and how a disease transforms the bodily functions, but over the years it’s caused animal rights activists to question the usefulness and the sincerity of using animals for this purpose. Although animal research has been helpful in the past, it is morally wrong in the sense that experimenting on animals is not the only way to collect information. There are other alternatives

America focuses heavily on its livestock and crops earning us a major role in global trade as a farming nation. Unfortunately this has led to some poor choices in treatment of our animals. Many farmers who believe in animal rights say that it started back when farmers only tended to fewer animals, “Ownership of farm animals became concentrated in fewer hands, and flocks and herds grew larger. As a result, the individuality of animals was lost to their owners and they began receding from most people's everyday life” (Namit 29). When people lost their connection to the animals that provided their food, the quality of the animal's lives began to dramatically decrease. Consumers constantly pushed farmers to their limits with high quotas. To keep up with demands agriculturalists turned to some unorthodox practices to keep costs low and still maintain their annual quotas; “To raise efficiency and cut costs, farm animals began to be engineered for abnormally rapid weight gain, fed unnatu...
Dr. Lyle G. McNeal also stated, “I’ve always felt strongly that when we take on the responsibility of raising and rearing any specie of farm animal, we take on burdens similar to having children.” As one is caring for farm animals, they should be able to comprehend the complications and amount of patience that is required. Dr. Lyle’s comment was reflected on an example that was relatable to humans. Childrens can become a burden but we are still able to manage it to the best that we can, which is why animals deserve the same. It has been argued that workers should be adequately trained to understand the pro and cons of animals by knowing them in order to detect issues from early on. However, in what ways will a livestock worker be able to know the animal to ensure a healthy care? This argument leads to the problem that specific education on animal trainings will prepare oneself for a livestock occupation of fulfilling animal
Many people believe that the only way to get a pet is to “buy” one without considering adopting, which is why I believe people should consider looking up better options and become more knowledgeable. There are so many reasons why someone shouldn’t buy a pet from a breeder, and so many benefits from adopting a pet from your local shelter/animal rescue.
