Child abandonment has left a big concern with unanswered questions and a hot debate. Mostly this dirty secret is done by women between the age of 13 and 24 years or particularly teenagers without responsibility and a fear to raise a child.
Unwanted or unplanned pregnancy either in the form of rape or sexual assault, generally pregnant teens hide their condition from family and friends and by the time her pregnancy is discovered, it may be too late to have an abortion (The economic realities by Barbara Miller, 1997, page 13). When the baby is born the victim will feel that the baby is going to remind her about all the terrible and abusive moment she went through. This will affect her strength in raising the baby and give higher chances to abandon

Raising a child alone is a hard work that comes with many difficulties (Julie K Endersbe, Teen Mothers: Raising a baby, Page 15). Since teens are not mature, they are concerned about how a baby would change their lives, not having money to raise a child (Julie K Endersbe, Teen pregnancy: Tough choices, Page 30). Raising a child require someone who understand how a child grows, develops and most importantly, who gives them time, attention and love.
Lack of income, poverty and unemployment is another issue to bear in mind. Children have daily needs, foods, clothing and many more which require financial stability (Julie K. Endersbe, Teen sex, Page 15). If parents are unemployed without a source of income, especially a teenager without any support it will be difficult to raise a child, especially those affected by poverty (Lisa Kruger, Teen pregnancy and parenting, Page 85).
Addiction of drugs and alcohol play a significant role in abandonment of children simply because many drug addicts do not take care of themselves, their drugs are more important than food or sleep (Drug abuse by Arther G Herscovitch, 1998, page 27). Fifty five percent of teens believe an unplanned pregnancy was the results of having sex while drunk or on drugs, in which they may not remember having sex().This abuse can cause several types of mental and emotional problems, including loss of interest in things, memory problem, anxiety and denial and such
Many individuals are taking the process of process of parental licensing into their own hands, despite their contributions being made up in mind only, however, it is thought that counts. One respective person believes that a restriction on having children should begin at the earliest stage of one’s life: birth. As soon as a child is born, doctors should “go in and turn off their spickets” (McRedmond). In the later stages of life, this would prevent several cases of teen pregnancies, seeing as though it would be an impossibility for women to get pregnant. Then, when a women eventually becomes ready enough to think about having children, they should go through a testing process, perhaps similar to Sherman’s ideas of interviews, writing, and demonstrations of capability. If they pass, they “get their spickets turned
Children are our future and they should be given every possible opportunity to succeed in life even if they are born into disadvantaged situations. Sometimes the families of certain children can’t provide as much as other children’s families and this can create a gap in the achievement and development of these children. Those disadvantaged children need special programing that accommodates for the lack of cognitive and social development that if not properly addressed could lead to poor school performance and delinquency.
Single moms are the most affected and providing childcare on campus is very beneficial to them. More than 4 million women attend two-year public institutions or community colleges, and more than 1 million of them are mothers. Many student mothers struggle to stay enrolled all the way through graduation. Most of them are more likely to drop out of school, and the reason is because most often there is no affordable or available childcare and the students have limited financial resources. The average daycare center cost for an infant is higher than a year’s tuition and fees at a public college. It makes affordable on-campus child care a necessary provision for students. Childcare on campus helps to contribute to the learning
Parent(s) should be able to provide a stable and loving environment for their children to grow up in, unfortunately, for drug addicted parents this feat seems impossible. Addicts must satisfy their own needs over anything else (Street, Whitlingum, Gibson, Cairns, and Ellis 2011). The high cost of drugs and their bizarre side effects cause rocky, unpredictable daily lives for the children of these addicts. Estimates show “…6 million children live with a parent who abuses alcohol or other drugs” (Taylor 2011). Children that reside with substance abusing parents enter into a perpetual cycle of physical abuse, neglect and emotional trauma. Numerous children raise themselves and/or their siblings because their parent(s) are either too drugged up to tend to their needs or are not home at ...
Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. Adoption recently has caused a hot-spot debate in Australia . Mr Rudd just argued that we should maintain the policy but I don’t agree with him. I am sure many of you are not satisfied with the current situation because we all clear this is not a great one. Adoption is so important because it is a way to change children’s lives. This debate is not about me and Mr Rudd; it’s about you and these children so you should make the best choice. For too long this policy has been disadvantaged to the children who are adopted or going to be adopted and those foster families. It’s the time to change. Relaxing the regulation of adoption within Australia and from overseas will be one of the liberal party’s aiming next term if I get your support. And let me tell you why choosing to relax adoption’s regulation is stepping up in the right direction to change.
Going to school is very time consuming and so is having kids. Most people that have kids don’t finish college, if they started. It is a struggle to find people continuously to watch your child, especially if they are working as well. I have seen people bring their child to class if the teacher allows it. Parents have a hard time getting a babysitter. Being that Baton Rouge Community College is a community college most people cannot afford the daycare. A lot of classes you may need do not have an online course. Having a free daycare, open all day, on campus would be great. So many people would be at ease.
When children are involved in a family structure that abuses alcohol or drugs an array of dysfunction becomes evident. Children might be subjected to child maltreatment, child abuse, physical/sexual abuse, or neglect, among many other inappropriate parenting practices. The alarming statistics of children that
If you have ever considered adopting a newborn, or a child under the age of three, then you have undoubtedly recognized that the price affiliated with this type of adoption is outrageously expensive. Some adoptions costing in the upper $40,000 range. When there are so many children in foster care already, why are the costs of adoption so extreme? How is the adoption process broken down into these fees? What do adoptive candidates have to go through in order to adopt a baby? Is the foster care system failing the children it currently serves? Why are more birth mothers choosing the unsightly demise of abortion rather than adoption? Do these women who choose abortion know all their options when it comes to their unborn child? Is there enough
In America, one million teenagers get pregnant every year (National Abortion Federation, 2003). Of these pregnancies, 78% are unplanned because these teenagers start having sex at a very young age and are unaware of ways to prevent pregnancies. Thirty-five percent of the pregnant teenagers chose to abort, as they fear that the consequences of the pregnancy might have significant effects on their lives. The problems that come with teenage pregnancies include dropping out of school, receiving inadequate prenatal care, developing health problems, relying on public assistance to raise a child, and probably divorcing their partners. In most states, the law allows pregnant teenagers to take their babies for adoption without consulting their parents.
The female teen stares into the eyes of her newborn son, not realizing the type of life her and her son will have in the near future. Katrina L. Burchett excellently explicates teenage pregnancy among female adolescents living with domestic problems in her book titled Choices. The various elements that aid to the wide range of teenage pregnancies in the world should all be taken in to consideration. Getting pregnant at an adult is no longer substantial or conventional in our society. Everyday, female young adults are getting pregnant, which is why it is a social issue for the youth today.
Having children is one of the most amazing things in the world but some children are created with the wrong idea behind them. RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) reports that there is “on the average of 237,868 people, ages 12 or older that have become victims of rape and sexual assault yearly.” Some of these rape and sexual assault crimes result in women becoming pregnant with a baby that they had not planned on. Women who become pregnant due to rape and sexual assault are usually very eager to get rid of their baby due to the fact that their child would possibly be a reminder of a part in their life that they would not like to recall.
Is it fair to have to take a course and pass a test to become a parent?
Do you desire to start a family some day, or maybe even add to the one you already have? I believe that all married couples and individuals in the United States eventually looking to start or add to their family should consider adoption. Some people might say that not everyone can afford to adopt a child, but being able to give a child a forever home and the love that they truly deserve highly outweighs the possible lengthy process and cost. All children need permanent, loving parents who will take them in and make them their own.
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act after much toiling, debate, and media attention. This is the most sweeping overhaul of our healthcare system in recent history, and the implications for the average American will be huge. While the bill was passed into law in March of 2010, much of it will not be enacted until the beginning of 2014 and beyond. However, effective this summer, people with existing medical conditions will be able to join a high-risk pool in which they will receive subsidies to cover their premiums. Furthermore, effective September 23, 2010, children will be able to stay enrolled in their parent's health insurance plan until they are 26, and insurers will be forced
As with many charitable initiatives, there has been backlash from the public and the government, with many finding baby hatches to be immoral. There are those who believe that baby hatches rob babies of their basic rights, a violation of Article 7 of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which requires for children to be registered, and to be cared for by their parents to their greatest ability. Others believe that baby hatches would promote a irresponsible parenting ethic, with those who might just simply want to get rid of a child may dump her child. They fear that people will find baby hatches to be an easy solution to children they are able to, but unwilling to raise. These arguments are quite farfetched and irrelevant.
