Outer Space is by far the hardest place for mankind to explore. Instead of having to only find out how to make our ships float better, we have to think about the lack of air and radiation from the sun. That is only a couple of issues that come up when you think of space travel. We have to think about all the technology we would have to improve to make more efficient parts. We also have to consider the health risks that come with being in a zero-g environment. Earth will not sustain us forever, eventually it will run out of metals and we will have to find another source. Why not start now before it’s too late?
Back in 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the moon, humans realized how far we can go and that not even stars could stop our adventurous attitudes, as stated by Arthur C. Clarke “the moon is the first milestone on the road to the stars”. As of right now, we are very limited with what technology we have. We have crude rockets and very, very inefficient rockets that use up 610 tons of liquid oxygen and 100 tons of liquid hydrogen to send a space shuttle to the moon and back. Without better technology, we can’t even hope to reach other planets within a reasonable amount of time. The closest Venus gets to Earth is 38 million km and it would take about 150 days for us to reach it. This is a relatively short amount of time if you compare it to how long it took a rover to reach mars. The most recent launch to mars (Curiosity) took 253 days to fly to and land on mars. Most of them are actually full of precious metals like Iron, platinum, diamonds, and even gold. If we are able to mine asteroids we would get a huge increase in amount mined every year compared to today. Earth has its limits can only provide so much metal and ores before it is run dry, asteroids fill our need for a huge amount of time. Even today the North American Space Association (NASA) has designed a ship that would collect a small asteroid and haul it to Earth. It would then drag into an orbit that would circle our moon so that we would be able to mine it easily. They have the design for this ship down, but many of the technologies that it requires is still being tested and created.

Well, interestingly enough, a race of a different kind occurred between two countries from the years 1957 to 1969. The competition was unclear, and the opponents were on two entirely different continents, not something as simplistic as two horses. On May 25, 1961, Congress met in a joint session to hear the American president, John F. Kennedy, address them in a speech he referred to as a second State of the Union. In his speech, the young president geared America for a race that would send men to the moon. Kennedy challenged America to “take longer strides” and to take a “leading role in space achievement, which, in many ways, may hold the key to our future on earth” (Burrows 330-331). America rose to the challenge, and within a decade, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were walking on the moon, becoming the first of the human race to walk on a world besides our own. The giant strides of which Kennedy challenged us soon slowed to a crawl, however, and after a few more missions, America would not go back again, possibly for good. America would soon turn its attention to other earthly issues, and its moon program would become nothing more than a memory. This gives rise to an inevitable question: should humans return to the moon? This question has haunted us for years, continuously rising and then fading away again. In recent months, new discoveries have brought it to the forefront, and with these new discoveries, the answer becomes obvious: humans should once again set their sights for the heavens, and putting a civilian lunar base and colony on the moon should be our next step.
The earth is flat. Who, but a government tool, has truly seen the spherical world? The human race should not be content to sit and accept what is broadcasted to the masses. A foul conspiracy to gain power and money keeps us in the dark, and unless the truth is thrust into common knowledge, society will continue to be controlled by scheming New World Leaders. Flat earth is the truth, and lies of science and government perpetuate the myth of a spherical earth.
With all the problems we have on earth and how much we don’t know about our own planet we shouldn’t be colonizing others. We may have the science but we don’t have the funds. We also have tons of willing people but not enough physically and mentally able to colonize a planet. Children are starving all around the world, People are homeless, and wars are starting. As a country we need to start investing more money and research into space technology. Programs currently exist for this effort, but the potential for research and progress is limited by a lack of funding; compared to other government funded programs, aerospace funding is pitiful. Continued research in space technology is a necessary step in our growth and development not just as a country but also as entire human race. If we are to achieve this goal, it is necessary to increase funding for space research and technology and consider the possibility of colonizing outer space. If we limit our existence to the planet Earth, and continue to drain the resources on this planet, we will destroy the only home we have.
Since mankind’s beginning, it has always felt the need to explore beyond farther than it has already explored; whether it be the crossing of the Atlantic to the New World or the exploration of the land acquired through the Louisiana Purchase, humans have always felt the need to explore and study what they do not know (SV;SV). But now since the world has been near scraped dry of new places to explore, where does mankind turn? Of course the answer is space, the vast and great unknown. One of the largest contributors to the human exploration of space is none other than those of the United States of America who have taken on large goals with the risk of lives for the sake of knowledge while always trying to improve in order to reach farther from our home planet.
Albert Einstein once said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is it stupid.” Sir Ken Robinson stated that schools are destroying children 's creativity with their curriculum, there are many facts that support this idea. Students are required to think a specific way, prepare the way teachers want them to be prepared. Students also have their own opinion, because they are not afraid to be wrong, and need a way to move forward.
Faster space travel is needed to make any new deep-space discoveries. There really are cost-effective options for space travel.
“Thomas Aquinas once wrote that it is better to know a little of what is important than a lot of what is unimportant” (Stancil, 252). Students should have a balance of street smarts and book smarts so they can be successful in whichever career they may choose. If the typical education focuses on teaching the students only certain areas they may or may not use, then how will the students be completely prepare for life? If education is supposed to prepare students for life, then can anyone really limit or define education? Kim Jones, a CEO who wrote an article on education, claims “Education does not have a single purpose; it serves multiple objectives, and the relative importance of each of these objectives can be very personal” (Forbes.com).
It is within man’s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man’s first achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next decades, space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man’s desire to explore, man’s desire for knowledge, and man’s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as the well of government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the American people has been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to whether or not space travel is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since humanity faces so many issues on earth currently. However, because of the past inventions, current services, and future benefits, space travel is indeed worth the money and attention of governments and people. It is within our hands to control man’s advancement, and space travel is the next venue to do so.
Not only that, but our population has been growing at an extremely alarming rate. At our current rate, our species may not be able to survive for much longer. This is where space exploration comes in. With the recent discovery of water on Mars, and the finding of Kepler-78b, it is possible that mankind can prolong our existence. The possibility of interstellar travel seems to be an option, or even a necessity, if we wish to continue living.
Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. Most people think that the costly downside to funding space exploration is a reason to avoid spending money on sciences and instead spend it on problems here on earth, but such funding for space exploration actually promotes economical as well as scientific benefits. Space exploration is an important expenditure for the high cost because of the potential for numerous benefits such as the possibility to find useful resources to cultivate, space exploration and satellites produce many thousands of jobs in our economy, and it creates and discovers newer and better technologies through research and development.
Our planet is suffering from severe pollution, which ranges from contaminated air, water and soil as well. Humans are doing nothing to reduce the amount of pollution that is harming our earth. To understand how pollution works first you must understand that there are different types of pollution. The most common types of pollution and the ones that I will be focusing on which are the ones doing the most harm to our planet are air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and littering. In order to help out and reduce pollution in our planet people need to be more aware of what these problems are and about the severe damages that they are causing our planet. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
