Comfort is very important to everyone, and comfort is one of the greatest aspects of safety. Safety comes from a lot of things such as people in your life, food, your home, and also your pets. You don’t want to feel unsafe from a potentially dangerous animal living in your house, backyard, or your neighbor’s yard. Some animals can be cute and cuddly, but others can pose as a threat, because of their natural behaviors. A wild animal has a home in the wilderness and that is not within your house. Keeping exotic animals as pets could endanger the animal, make a high-risk factor of safety towards humans, and it creates much illegal activity while selling and shipping the animals.
Pet endangerment comes from keeping exotic animals as pets. Every

Many people are not aware if they are breaking the laws because laws are not clearly stated and many people don’t know the laws with in the area they live in. The laws in the U.S.A. go from state by state regulations, so while one state completely banns wild animals, other may not have any rules at all (Velez-Mitchell 3). Many of the rules are broken through exportation (Velez-Mitchell 3). It is illegal to export from japan and Russia, causing much illegal activity (Murphy 1). There are only three federal laws about keeping wild and exotic animals (Velez-Mitchell 3). The first one being the ESA the Endangered Species Act, this law says that it is illegal to possess, sell, or buy an endangered species (Velez-Mitchell 3). Though all three of these laws do not regulate private possession (Velez-Mitchell 3). Second being the Public Health Service Act which only allows pet owners to keep these animals for scientific education or exhibition purposes (Velez-Mitchell 3). Lastly the Lacey act allows U.S.A. government to prosecute people with an animal illegally obtained in a foreign country, or another state (Velez-Mitchell 3). Still this does not regulate private possession (Velez-Mitchell 3). It is also illegal to own an animal that naturally lives with the area you live in (Velez-Mitchell 3). For instance if you lived in Washington it is illegal to own a squirrel, for they are natural animal to this region. We need …show more content…
Their argument may be that the trade of shipping and delivering animals ranges from 10-15 billion dollars (Murphy 2). Also they may say it’s an easy way to make money. This may be true, however, when animals are being shipped, it is most likely illegal, which can cause a lot of illegal activity (Velez-Mitchell 3). Also when they take animals from their natural habitats they are diminishing the population of the future wild animals, which can start leading to endangerment or extinction. Before anyone wants to start in this business, they must consider the laws, and how much distress and damage they will be causing for the animals. There are alternatives animals that can be kept as pets instead such as domestic dogs, cats, birds, fish and many more. Many people overlook the extensive risk they are taking by taking an animal captive, out of their home in the wild, and this is the reason extreme numbers of wild animals are dying. If you care anything of the wild animal species, it is unacceptable that we are one taking animals, but then putting them through painful processes, meaning they can never return to the wild. We have to change the ways of our people if we want a
...ress it causes for the animal not only the captivity, but also in the capture process. There are many health risks for the animal and it rips them away from their family. These animals are so amazing, but as you can see, it is better for them to stay in their environment with family and not be put on display.
While it might seem hard to believe, it is actually legal. However, there are several restrictions as to which animals you can hunt,
The exotic pet trade is a booming industry, raking in millions of dollars every year. Everything from harmless leopard geckos to hyenas can be found in 30 of the 50 states. Of those 30 states, only 21 require permits to own these animals (Webber 2010). Indiana has just recently withdrawn its own requirement for permits, making 10 states that allow any kind of exotics without documentation (Kelly 2015). It is estimated that 15,000 big cats are being kept as pets in the United States alone, with more captive tigers in Texas than there are in India. Approximately 15,000 primates and 7.3 million reptiles are also being kept in the US (Webber 2010). What does all of this mean and, more importantly, what can be done about it?
Throughout the world, wild cats, reptiles and primates live peacefully in their natural habitats. Despite this, every year more and more of these exotic animals are becoming domestic pets. Keeping exotic animals as pets is unsafe and should therefore be made illegal. They pose a risk of injury, disease and invasion of the natural environment. Some people believe that keeping a pet does not pose a risk if properly kept and trained.
Do you think that keeping exotic animals as pets should be legal? Well, I think that owning exotic animals as pets should be illegal. First, safety is a main concern for both the animals and for people. Secondly, it cost a very large amount of money to properly care for these animals; money people usually don’t have by themselves. Finally, it is against the law in many places to own these animals. Exotic animals should not be kept as pets.
Imagine wanting not a puppy, but a tiger for your birthday, imagine the expenses of owning that tiger and the dangers and hazards of owning that tiger. Do you really think it’s a good idea to get that tiger? No, it’s not a question. It’s a lot of work, and it’s also very dangerous. Exotic animals are not good to buy and have.
The general public has a lack of understanding of animal hoarding. Many citizens do not realize that anyone can report abuse (Donaghey 2011). There are “…900 to 2,000 new cases [found] every year… with a quarter million animals falling victim” in the United States alone (Animal). If every hoarder has a neighbor on either side there are at least 4,000 witnesses to these crimes yearly. One reason for witnesses not reporting cases is the unknown fact that hoarded animals “range in species from cats and dogs to reptiles, rodents, birds, exotics and even farm animals” (Animal). Hoarded animals show signs of abuse which witnesses can detect such as heartworms, embedded collars, beaten, social issues, emaciated, or if they generally look unhealthy (Donaghey 2011).
Endangered Species Act History: The date was December 28, 1973 and the U.S. Congress proudly submits and successfully passed one of its largest pieces of environmental legislation ever: the Endangered Species Act. This act was signed by Richard Nixon into law and passed with a staggering 355 to 4 vote. The law was hailed by proud legislators as the right action, and, if anything, long overdue (Dwyer, Ehrlich, & Murphy, 1995). This act prohibits many activities involving endangered species. These prohibitions include: importation into and exportation from the U.S.; taking of species within the U.S. and its territorial seas, this includes all land areas public and private; selling, possessing, carrying, shipping, or delivering any such species unlawfully taken within the U.S., and selling or offering for sale of species in interstate or foreign commerce (WWW site, ESA).
Many people feel that animals have no rights and are here solely for our use.
Imagine a world where there are no animals anywhere. There are still the ordinary cows, pigs, cats, dogs, but there is not a single tiger or rhinoceros. People all around the world have been killing animals for thousands of years and they need to stop and obey the laws. Make your voice heard for the animals; they can’t speak for themselves so we need to do it for them. Other reasons on why animals are getting put on the endangered species list and or going extinct: habitat intrusion, pet trade, climate change, and disease. Please help to save the animals or they won’t be here any longer.
Having exotic animals as pets is immoral and dangerous. They endanger the community, become sick, and their owners abandon them. Each State in the USA has a different law against exotic animals; multiple allow exotic pets, some allow restriction, and few do not permit exotic pets. Even if keeping an exotic animal is illegal, some one will go against the law to have what he or she wants. You may think ‘i can take good care of an animal. It will be better off with me,’ but it won't. Every country should have and exotic animal ban and realize the hurt one is causing to these poor
In what way is that right? It’s just like kidnapping, we put humans in jail for that, but only when it’s another human. People act like just because they aren’t human that its ok and they lie to themselves telling themselves that its okay and that the animal will be taken care of, fed, and have a nice little “fake” forest or desert to live in. Just think of it as having a zoo full of humans, or stealing other humans to make profit or teach someone something new by doing something totally wrong and unethical.
If you watch the news often you would know how some people have exotic pets like, Deer, Big cats, Snakes, etc. I would never own/take care of an exotic pet because they could harm you at any second of the day (Or night). Exotic animals are called exotic for a reason, they are very dangerous animals. If you own a exotic animal you need t be very careful because if you make one bad move they might attack you or do worse. Exotic animals shouldn't be held captive because they need to learn new skills (Running, Climbing, Hunting.)
It is a Muslims duty to acknowledge what practices are wrong and right according to Islam. While using animals for personal benefits, owning an animal should be for a specific purpose but people these days take advantage of animals for their own personal greed and envy Omar et al, (2016,p 154). This can specifically be applied to what the people in the gulf are doing which is taking advantage of exotic animals such as cheetahs, lions which can be seen on the streets with untrained professional owners and no harsh laws preventing them from doing so. Varies owners of exotic animal’s state that their ownership of an exotic animal was of no benefit to them or most importantly the animal itself round table discussion (2011). All in all people seeking ownership of exotic animals should study the factors and consequences on doing so
Animals are a part of our lives. People all around the world have pets, why not allow them to keep exotic animals for pets? People want to keep these pets for different reasons such as an allergy to fur or feathers or to rehome an abused animals. People should be allowed to keep exotic animals for pets. People should be allowed to have exotic animals as pets because they could be allergic to something on the other pets like fur or feathers.
