Investigate Animal Shelter Who.....This issue affects all lost and abandoned animals. These animals deserve respect and care. There are several paid staff members and volunteers that assist at the shelter. Everyone I know feels that "Awwww" sensation when they see an animal. My parents have gotten three cats from two different animal shelters over the past five years. They are a help in reviewing this issue. What.....Unfortunately, many animals get lost or owners do not take responsibility for them. Also, animals are left to fend for themselves without being spayed or nuetered. Even though there are low cost spay and nueter clinics, they are often many miles away. It would be nice if more local veterinarian clinics offered …show more content…

Sadly this happens to various animals each year that are brought to Kill Shelters. The ASPCA has stated that three to four million animals are euthanized in shelters in the United States. An absolutely shocking 60% of all animals that belong to shelters(McLellan). Many of these animals that are irrationally killed are completely worthy of adoption. The main reason for all these senseless killings is overpopulation.
Stay Animals suffer on the street, and only a small portion of them are rescued
In Animal Care and Services you will be required to give food and water to animals; Clean equipment and the living spaces of animals, monitor animals and record details of their diet, physical condition, and behavior, examine animals for signs of illness or injury, exercise animals, and attend to other grooming needs. Animal care and service workers train, feed, groom, and exercise animals. They also clean, disinfect, and repair animal cages. They play with the animals, provide companionship, and observe, any behavioral changes that could indicate illness or injury, There are different types of services provided such as nonfarm animal caretakers, groomers, animal keepers and kennel attendants. Nonfarm animal caretakers typically work with animals in animal shelters or rescue leagues. All caretakers attend to the basic needs of animals, but experienced caretakers may have more responsibilities, such as helping to vaccinate or euthanize animals under the direction of a Veterinarian. Caretakers also may have administrative jobs such as keeping records, answering questions from the public, educating visitors about pet health, and

With the ultimate goal of an animal shelter is to find loving homes for animals in need of adoption or help lost animals reunite with their owners, happy endings are not always the case for animals. Of the 7.6 million companion pets who enter
Primates and some other animals are captured from the wild. There is even a market for laboratory animals where licensed dealers sell animals to research companies. These animals can come from places such as puppy mills, an establishment that breeds puppies for sale. Some dealers even go to the extent of baiting animals in from the streets with meat and sedatives, and others will pose as animal control officers. Flyers for “Lost pet” and “will give to good home” are responded by the wrong individuals. Some of these suffering animals were once pets that were loved and treated like family. To know that a family member is being treated unkindly and has to suffer for something they do not deserve is never desired (Peta).
My service project started like most others, with IPFW’s “The Big Event”. Sadly, I had to work so I could not spend the whole day volunteering. Knowing this, I went to The Big Event planning office and saw if there was anything that I could do on that day to help out such as set up or tear down later that night. It turns out that they were offering a set-up period and it was 7-10AM. This timeframe worked perfectly with my schedule so I was glad everything had worked out in my favor.
Our group is over joyed to represent a proposal to you that will hopefully strike interest into you. The proposal could help bring a better and more fluent working environment within the Bartholomew County Humane Society (BCHS). For several weeks the group of Kaitlin Charles, Clayton Wilkerson, and Sam Noblitt have been working toward an idea that will benefit the BCHS. The proposal would be for the BCHS to teammate up with the local schools. Students that are attending these schools could be informed about the experience of volunteering and how it is able to affect the community.
Overpopulation of unwanted pets has become a major issue in the United States. According to Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society, there are 70 million stray cats and dogs in the United Stated. 6 to 8 million of those enter shelters each year. An estimated 3 to 4 million are euthanized in shelters
Activity Descriptions We will start off by asking for donations from businesses or groups in order to obtain a special event permit for 50-100 people. If approved by the City or Board of Police Commissioners we will hold the event
“You 'll make the jobs of everyone working for animals a little easier by lending a hand and spreading the message of responsible pet ownership and animal protection” (Top Reasons to Volunteer). Most of the time the new volunteers do not have the experience that the older volunteers have. If there is something that needs to be done and one of the volunteers do not know what to do next suggest to them that a certain chore needs taken care of. Also, if you see a dog got out or is being aggresive go and get the staff to help and ask for guidance. The animal and your safety is the most important
I entered the center completely unprepared for the level of education and hard work that the center demanded, but thrived knowing that I was helping heal animals in peril (many of whom were there directly because of human actions). After many hours of feeding, cage cleaning, and handling dangerous patients, I felt as though I had learned as much from the animals as I had my teachers. However, I also found myself frustrated more often than not when I found a limit to my ability to aid animals. There is no worse feeling than knowing that an animal urgently needs care that you are unable to provide. This feeling encouraged me to further my education in animal care, so that I can be the best caretaker possible for animals in
One of the animals that people allow to suffer in the U.S. is dogs. Currently 36 states either allow or mandate that animal shelters be willing to release unwanted animals to laboratories for testing, and about 80% of the experiments performed on these animals are funded by citizen tax dollars. Communities that have actually done away with pound seizures have actually shown that their pet shelters are able to place more pets in homes as well as having to euthanize fewer animals because of the increased confidence in the shelter. Some ways to help prevent this from happening to your pets are: Don’t let your pet run around unsupervised, keep an ID on your pets so that you can find them faster if they become lost, and to make provisions in your will for your pets to keep them from falling into poor conditions. Another side to the abuse of dogs is the use of puppy mills. These are buildings where puppies are bred to be sold in pet shops, but have to live in poor conditions before being sold. These dogs are housed in cramped and unsanitary cages, and have to deal ...
