The Shame of Mankind
Every 10 Seconds an animal is abused in our country, according to the ASPCA. When people think of animal abuse they may think of animals being kicked or neglected, but with each year, the types of animal cruelty continue to increase. Over the years animal cruelty is getting worse and something needs to be done about it. There are too many people in the world that do not understand what animals go through on a day to day basis. Animal Cruelty is something that should be taken very seriously in our world. One of the main questions that people may have is why people abuse their animals. There are two main types of animal abuse and those are neglect and intentional abuse. “ Simple neglect involve pets whose owners forget to feed them, give them water, bring them into shelter, exercise them bring them to the veterinarian for routine shots, and so forth”( “The Seven Forms…”). This type of neglect is when people just don’t understand what their pets needs are. Organizations should bring awareness to pet owners on what they need to be doing to properly take care of their pet. A wireless dog fence expert said that cruel neglect is caused by owners who are aware of their own shortcomings but fail to do anything about it, either from lack of caring or from malice or cruelty. This kind of neglect is seen in animals already bleeding from worms or ticks, in animals living in overly unclean environments, and so forth (“The Seven Forms...)”. People who are aware of the pets not meeting their needs, need to take action or have consequences. It’s one thing to not be aware of your pets needs but it's a completely different thing when owners neglect animals on purpose. The next main type of animal abuse is intentional abuse. “There are actually pet owners whose only interactions with their pets consist of hurting them deliberately. This can be striking the animals, wounding them, even meaningless shouting at them”(“The Seven Forms…”). Owners who are caught with intentional abuse can face many years in jail. “A man who stomped on a boxer puppy and threw it against a wall in Texas… [was] sentenced to prison.
