Every 10 Seconds an animal is abused in our country, according to the ASPCA. When people think of animal abuse they may think of animals being kicked or neglected, but with each year, the types of animal cruelty continue to increase. Over the years animal cruelty is getting worse and something needs to be done about it. There are too many people in the world that do not understand what animals go through on a day to day basis. Animal Cruelty is something that should be taken very seriously in our world. One of the main questions that people may have is why people abuse their animals. There are many different reasons why people show cruelty to their pets. “Most abuse and neglect is unintentional and committed by people

There are two main types of animal abuse and those are neglect and intentional abuse. “ Simple neglect involve pets whose owners forget to feed them, give them water, bring them into shelter, exercise them bring them to the veterinarian for routine shots, and so forth”( “The Seven Forms…”). This type of neglect is when people just don’t understand what their pets needs are. Organizations should bring awareness to pet owners on what they need to be doing to properly take care of their pet. A wireless dog fence expert said that cruel neglect is caused by owners who are aware of their own shortcomings but fail to do anything about it, either from lack of caring or from malice or cruelty. This kind of neglect is seen in animals already bleeding from worms or ticks, in animals living in overly unclean environments, and so forth (“The Seven Forms...)”. People who are aware of the pets not meeting their needs, need to take action or have consequences. It’s one thing to not be aware of your pets needs but it's a completely different thing when owners neglect animals on purpose. The next main type of animal abuse is intentional abuse. “There are actually pet owners whose only interactions with their pets consist of hurting them deliberately. This can be striking the animals, wounding them, even meaningless shouting at them”(“The Seven Forms…”). Owners who are caught with intentional abuse can face many years in jail. “A man who stomped on a boxer puppy and threw it against a wall in Texas… [was] sentenced to prison. A judge ordered [the man] to spend 12 years behind bars for animal cruelty and a probation violation” (“Man Sentenced to...”). When intentional abuse does happen the owner is not
Although many people are hurt and killed from wild animals that are kept as pets. But the animals suffer from hurt they receive from their owner. In paragraph 6 of ,Wild Animals Aren’t Pets, the author talks about how dangerous the wild animals are but also talks about the dangers of the animals being hurt. “This week in Zanesville, it was the animals themselves including 18 rare Bengal tigers, who became innocent victims.” This shows the owners of the rare tigers began abusing their animals. People are not the only ones getting

Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being battered and starved everyday. There are many forms of animal cruelty; some forms are scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment.
Animal abuse is described generally as any act or omission that causes unnecessary or unreasonable harm to an animal. Animal abuse are vary and can lead to different forms. These may include, tormenting or beating an animal, executing an animal in a harsh way, binding or transporting an animal in a way that is improper for its welfare, neglecting to give fitting living conditions, neglecting to give proper or satisfactory sustenance or water for an animal and neglecting to give suitable treatment to infection or injury (Animal Cruelty, n.d.). In general, for an act to be considered as animal cruelty, it must be a non-accidental, socially unacceptable, enacted on a vertebrate animal, causing pain, suffering and distress or death. (Battle, 2013).
There are many statistics that come with animal abuse. Did you know that 71% of all domestic violence cases state that the attacker harmed the animal(s) as well (animalcruelty.weebly.com ; 5th dot)? 47 out of the 50 U.S. states treat animal abuse as a felony(www.humainsociety.org/issues/abuse_neglect/ ;4th paragraph). In all animal abuse cases 64.5% involve dogs (1212 cases, mainly pitbulls), 18% (337 cases), and 25% (470 cases) involve other animals being harmed (www.humainsociety.org/issues/abuse_neglect/facts/animal_cruelty_facts_statistics.html#.u3E...
Would you like to try a dog limb with the salad? These are the exact word that I heard from the Korean air hostess when I was first traveling to the USA. I still remember she passed me a wrong serving plate. This incident really affects me a lot because I had never seen meat before in my life. It makes me think about how the meat industry is widely spread and how it is regulated by the governmental agencies. Factory farming is a system of rearing livestock using intensive methods by which poultry, pigs, or cattle are confined indoors under strictly controlled conditions. Today, factory farming dominates the U.S food production to fulfill the excessive demand of the peoples. Most of the factory farms are run by the giant corporations and their
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
When an animal is beaten, it not only causes the animal to be physically harmed, but it can also result in the animal receiving severe psychological damage. The abuse can cause the animal to become afraid of all humans, whether they are abusive or not. Not only can the victim become afraid of humans, it can cause it to even be hostile towards people and other animals. For example, if a dog’s previous owner was abusive, that can end in the dog being aggressive towards others due to its fear of being hurt like he/she was in the past. A tremendous part of animal cruelty that people do not recognize is the abuse of animals is linked to the abuse of humans in many cases. Animal neglect correlates with human neglect, which usually involves a child, elder, or other dependent (Animal Legal Defense Fund). In a survey, seventy-one percent of domestic violence victims said that their abuser also turned their household pet into a victim of abuse (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics). In a study completed in 1983, eighty-eight percent of families under investigation for child abuse partook in animal abuse along with the abuse of their child (Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics). Not only does this cruelty affect the victims, but it can also affect the ones witnessing the violence. When someone is in the presence of violence of an animal or another person, it can affect the
This sentence is, however, not executed in practice. With some perpetrators not sentenced at all, despite there being evidence that they committed the crime. In some extreme cases, such abusers are allowed to continue keeping pets despite the suffering they cause on animals. I have also encountered other cases whereby abusers walk away scot free with the crime without even a case to answer. This needs to change since the life of an animal’s life also matters.
Animals that are neglected by their owners roam around the streets and eventually die due to starvation or some kind of disease. Animals are not something that cannot be thrown away so easily, because they have rights as well, and we need to treat them the way they should be treated. Although not all humans treat animals badly, we should still attempt to educate as many people as we can about animal cruelty. Animal cruelty does not only affect animals, it affects humans as well.
Animal abuse for pets can range from neglecting to take care of the animal to the actual deliberate abuse of the animal such as beating, shooting, stabbing, or lighting the animal on fire.
Every 60 seconds an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
The abuse that animals endure at human hands is heartbreaking, sickening, and infuriating. Animals are just as delicate as humans, so why not abuse us too? Animal lives should be just important as ours. No animals should be killed or abused for testing, entertaining, clothing, or hoarding. Every year, millions of animals are being killed and torture for testing.
Animal abuse is a travesty in our world that must be stopped. Every year, millions of animals suffer because of human actions, directly or indirectly. Whether it’s abused dogs and cats or even mistreated circus animals, their suffering is as real as it would be if it happened to us. Even animals who are raised on farms simply for human consumption should not have to suffer. One of the worst parts of humanity’s role in animal abuse is that there are easy ways for people to help that they are either ignorant of or simply refuse to do. There are many examples of animals who are abused by humans, but there are also ways for people to help prevent and put an end to animal abuse.
This is known as intentional abuse. Many of the people guilty of this are people of the younger generation, who do cruel things to animals due to peer pressure from others.... ... middle of paper ... ...
