High School Soccer vs Club Soccer
With more and more soccer clubs transitioning to year round seasons, high school girls are pegged with a question: Should I play high school or club soccer? It used to be that club soccer took place in the fall, while high school soccer was played in the spring. However, now that clubs are offering year round opportunities for girls, club soccer has overlapped with the high school season. Although either choice will allow a girl to play soccer, club soccer and high school soccer vary in time commitment, level of play, and social life. No matter which team a girl plays for, playing soccer at a high school or club level is going to be an enormous time commitment. On one hand, club soccer requires a vast amount

A majority of friendships on a club soccer team are just groups of girls that get along well at practice and games, and might carpool together to tournaments. Girls who have been playing on the same team for years can become inseparable, however even those friendships usually remain strictly soccer. Outside of trainings during the week and games during the weekend, club soccer friends usually don’t see each other. High school on the other hand, includes team bonding weekends, team dinners, team sleepovers, etc. Everyone goes to the same school so all of the girls already know each other and live near each other. Some of the girls are close friends from school, and are then close friends on the soccer team. High school soccer and club soccer are both a great way to exercise and to have fun outside of class. In contemplating which to play, one should consider whether they are looking for a more serious commitment, or a more fun way to pass time. On the one hand, there is club soccer, which is very competitive and has a very serious mentality; on the other hand, there is high school soccer which is more laid back and a lot of fun. Both options include playing soccer, so there isn't a wrong choice. It is only a matter of
Soccer has guided me in many ways to become the person I am. Especially in high school, the sport has showed me how to be much more cooperative and open with others. Before high school, I isolated myself from others and had only a few close friends. Rather than being a sociable, I acted as though I was the only person in the world and had the outlook that as long as I do what is right individually, there is no need for me to work with others. This outlook changed when I joined the soccer team at Holy Spirit, my high school. With the way soccer is at the high school level, I had no choice but to cooperate and associate my selves with others. Once on the field, instead of introducing myself as "me" I had to introduce myself as a part of the team. You win as a team and you lose as a team. Sometimes I wanted to drive to games myself, and I was not allowed to because we are supposed to travel together and it would be wrong to the team for me to separate myself from the group.
With club volleyball I notice that there are less "politics" involved compared to when you play for the school. During school volleyball, there tends to be a bigger amount of arguments between teammates because we know each other outside of the gym and practice. Fellow teammates know how everyone acts during school, and we tend to know about the drama each of us are in. Unfortunately, there is still a small amount of "politics" in club volleyball; most of it involves the parents. More times than not, the parents will participate in petty arguments, and then they will continue to talk about each other which brings the kids into the mess. Those situations are very far and few between, thankfully. Going back to school volleyball, there can also be "politics" when it involves money. If a family donates more money to the school, they can be favored by the coach and sometimes get more playing time when they don’t necessarily deserve it. From a player perspective, the political part of the game is often overlooked, because all a player is worried about is playing the game they
High schools sports have been around for many years. High schools offer many different sports such as, football, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse, and soccer. Sports are a great way students get involved in school. High school teams have many different levels. The levels are varsity, junior varsity, and freshman. High school sports encourage competition and school spirt. Although joining a sport takes great effort, time commitment, and personal sacrifices, valuable lessons can be learned.
Abstract: Youth Soccer has recently evolved into a fiercely competitive arena. More and more children are leaving recreational leagues to play in highly competitive select leagues. While select sports are a valuable resource where children can learn how to socialize and become self-motivated, children who start at young ages, ten and eleven, can suffer psychological and physical damage. A child's youth sporting experience is directly influenced by the attitudes, sportsmanship and behavior of their parents and coaches.
Playing soccer has also brought my family closer together. Both my parents and my sisters would come to all my games and support me. No matter the outcome of the game my family was always there for me. My family has been at my important games and the games that I am not so proud of. Even though they have seen the worst of the sport I still love having them watching me play. They have been the reason I have never given up. And I love making them proud. In the past year, my travel team folded and I thought that I would never have another team to play on. It was very upsetting knowing that I would not be playing with the same girls that I have played with my entire life. Yet, I joined an intramural team and started playing again. I played on a co-ed team for two more years before I graduated high school. On the intramural tea...
In almost every high school throughout the United States, there always seems to be some discontent between the members of the football and soccer teams. One is considered to be the most popular sport in the United States, while the other is deemed to be the most popular sport in the world. The former, football, has more participants at the high school and college level than any other sport in the United States. While the latter, soccer, is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Although these two sports have some significant differences, they also have more similarities than some people may realize.
School Volleyball teams start in about 8th grade, it starts in the fall when school starts, then ends when winter starts. Club teams start when you are about at age 11, club teams are usually almost all year round and they travel around the US for tournaments. When you play club volleyball, more scouts from colleges come to the tournaments and watch you play, you will most likely get a scholarship for college volleyball if you play club. Club volleyball is a big commitment and also is very expensive.
The sport of soccer has overcome many changes through the years. In particular, women’s soccer compared to men’s soccer has gained much notoriety. The widespread knowledge of soccer has spread throughout numerous countries. Soccer began as primarily a men’s sport, but today soccer is considered a sport that both genders participate in. Women’s soccer has changed dramatically over the years with the increase in popularity as well as new style and rules of the game.
Soccer the most popular sport in the world, since is the sport with more active players with around 270 million athletes. By having registered so many players, it’s not surprising that this sport has more fans than any other sport worldwide. Every team looks for a player that moves the ball, and that creates plays to score. This means a person that pass the ball through the entire game. To pass the ball in a proper way is one of the main skills a player needs to play soccer. Passing the ball, keeps the game going. Without being able to pass the ball accurately to your teammates, more than likely your team won’t be able to score a goal. The key for passing is to keep things simple. This means passing the ball to your nearest teammate that is not marked by an opponent.
The Social Benefits are also a reason kids should play sports in high school. Creating friendships and bonds are very important in growing up, “Sports bring teens together from different schools, backgrounds, and communities.” says Katie Howard a high school writer. It’s said the girls have remarkable Social Benefits like having “more confidence” which will attract more positive people into their lives and “The vast majority avoid depression and suicide”(Anderson, 2012). Boys and girls are said to have “noticeably positive reactions and behavior”(Benefits of School Based Sports, 2013) from participating in a school-based sport no matter what sport it is they choose to play.
Soccer has always been my passion. I started to play when I was in second grade. I have played continuously and am now a captain of the Suttons Bay Lady Norsemen. We are a high school cooperative team consisting of players from Suttons Bay, Leland and Northport. This is our fourth year of existence and we worked hard to establish our team and its killer reputation. The part that I am most proud of is that I was among a group of girls that helped convince the Suttons Bay School Board that our high school should establish a girls' high school team. We asked to be put on the board's agenda and prepared a persuasive presentation outlining the reasons that girls at Suttons Bay High School deserved their own team. We knew that money was not available to fund the team, so we promised to find it ourselves. The Board approved our team in the spring of 1997. Our team members and parents spent long hours in fundraising to pay for our uniforms, equipment, transportation, referees and coaches.
Soccer is a complicated sport with an even more complicated history. Indeed, many underestimate the stamina required to be successful, as players commonly run an average of six miles in an individual game (“soccer facts”).
There’s people who don’t see the advantage’s of playing soccer or any other sport out there. But I do and I’m going to educate you by telling you on how playing soccer and other sports can be beneficial. First, it has physical benefits, it also can help you academically, and socially.
Soccer is a fun way to pass time as well as a competitive sport among athletes. It requires a combination of various skills, which include: dribbling, passing and receiving, shooting, defending, as well as goalkeeping for some. A soccer player’s skills will also vary from one position to another. These fundamental skills are learned relatively quickly for those who want to play for fun. But if you want to play soccer competitively you will need to master all of these skills above, plus a few others.
Finally, we have reached the age to play sports, but what sport would be the best? Many kids turn to baseball and football because these are America’s past time sport, but there is always a select few that choose soccer. Why, because their parents force them to play. Soccer, in a parents point of view, is seen as a safe exercise sport, you can make friends and most important, get outside. At such a young age, kids have never been the best at following directions, which leads to chaos on the field. Kids swarm around the ball wishing for the chance to kick the ball a couple of times. In all truth, “Kids don't grow up wanting to watch tag on TV, or be a professional tag player, and that's really how most kids who play it view soccer. It's fun, its outdoors and it involves running around, but that's about it” (Emen). Besides the fact of parents forcing soccer down the kids throat, they get the image that soccer will forever be a disorganized sport, which in all truth can be at some points. The main reason for this is because in America, we were never taught how to play s...
