When I started on this course I didn’t know what to expect. After reading the syllabus and looking at what was required from the course – I became very nervous and questioned how well I would do. I never saw myself as a strong writer so my lack of confidence just added to my apprehension. I knew I needed to work on my writing skills but I didn’t know what to expect or what I would get out of the course. I now know that my concerns were unfounded – when you have the clear understanding of your topic, which approach you are going to take and what points you are trying to make to your audience then writing seems less difficult.

I needed to make sure I had all the research material to support my assertion on the subject I had selected to write about. I had decided to write about hydraulic fracturing; how I thought it was harming the environment and our water resources. I read so many articles and trying to make sense of all the scientific analysis was challenging but I managed to put something together with the help of graphic organizer. The most difficult part for me besides the research was making sure I included all the cited work properly and that the information was presented in the correct order. I struggled with the organization in my first draft, but on my final persuasive essay I reread the essay several times and then took a break from it and reread it again with fresh eyes. I was then able to reorder the information, so it made better sense and I also made sure I included solid topic sentences to each of my paragraphs. Adriana pointed out in several instances, “Either merge these and add a topic sentence, or move them elsewhere as support” so I made sure I reordered my information so the essay made more
Most of us write in some form every day, so you would expect that most of us would be well practiced and pretty good at writing. I read and write all the time; I have been taken several college courses and nearly all of them require write of some form. However, before taking this class not only was I not a good writer, I knew I wasn’t a good writer. Now I am not saying that I am ready to write my first novel, but I certainly more confident in turning in my college papers. The content of this course and the style of teaching was incredibly beneficial to me. Throughout this course we had multiple assignments that were aimed to improve us as writers. I am sure that everyone took something different from this course, and I am sure that each student took more from some areas than others; however for me there were three major things that I saw that I benefited from most. Our weekly craft lessons, grammar plan, but most of all, observational learning.
SOURCES: You will need to incorporate at least four (4) of these sources into your essay. If you use too few sources, your own argument will appear uninformed and superficial. If you use too many sources, your own argument will get lost in the clamor of all those other voices. The trick is to use enough sources to prove that you’ve read about and thought through the issue, which includes using sources to support your position and sources to offer counterarguments to your position. Although the living conditions of children are getting lot better than when we were kids, the children study more time than we did. The pupils have to get up at earlier than 7 o 'clock to make sure they won’t be late for school. Not only have that, these pupils still had to participate in various after school program, and a lot of variety of training during the weekends. The most pressure is homework. As a summer school teacher, I always can hear kids say that the teacher gave them too much work, had to spend two hours a day to compete the homework, and have no time to play. Is it too much pressure for the kids? That is the question for most of the parents. What should the parents as should do to let these children relax and do not have that much pressure? There is so much to be discovered in our vast world of technology. Scientists and researchers work hard everyday to educate themselves and others on the advances capable of being achieved. There are people learning about new technology, different scientific and medical methods, and most of all medicine everyday. However, there is always a price to pay with hypotheses running their course through experiments, and that is the testing subject. Scientists feel the best choice for such research is to use animals to be tested, and that great achievements in the science world are worth it. Just as these scientists are, testing on innocent animals is completely wrong. Just because they are available for testing, and don’t have any ability to opt out in these experiments, does not mean they are right for the job.
Fishing is an exciting sport that is highly involving and relaxes at the same time. Sadly, many people tend to overlook the activity as a way to burn calories. Fishing doesn’t necessarily mean sitting on your boat waiting for fish to pass by your hook; it can be more than that.
This course was the first course I took as an incoming freshman, as anyone could imagine I was scared and nervous at the same time. Also since it is a writing course; I was hesitant if I wanted to continue in the class because writing is very challenging for me as an immigrant. Returning from summer break, I found it extremely tough to continue where I left off with my writing skills from high school. The fear of writing that my old high school teacher instilled in me did not help my writing anxiety either. In contrast, I found that the professor and the course were not at all intimidating as I assumed, the professor took time from his busy schedule to help his students to further improve their writing and the writing topics were very stimulating and thought provoking. Composition 1 has helped me learn more about myself and my writing skills, which allowed me to further self-evaluate myself, find where I need improvement and become motivated to change.
There are many ways of how one can start writing any given essay thru plainly organizing his or hers thoughts. Great examples are using free write, bullet points, Venn diagram and so on. The method I use which is really helpful is quite different. Let’s say that I was to write a persuasive essay, before writing anything I would look through my folders until I have found a graded persuasive essay. Once In my hand I would then begin writing the essay following the previous persuasive essay’s structure and rules of the essay. Now, both being

This shows that you can open many doors in college and you will most likely have a job so you don’t have to fear of being jobless but that job may not be your dream job. People don’t need to go to college to have their dreams fulfilled because college cannot always help with making dreams come true it can help you get a job and have a lot of money and have a good life but that doesn’t always mean that, that job is your dream job. Whatever happens you should work hard to have your dream job not the job that pays better but the one that makes you happy.
Throughout the semester, I have developed many skills and have greatly improved on my writing. At the beginning of the year, I had no clue how to format a paper in APA. I had only used MLA format before this year, so I was clueless. Also, I never knew how to correctly write an introduction. I did not know that an introduction needed to include a hook. I knew that it needed a thesis statement but I was never writing my thesis correctly, until this year. Finally, I never knew how to correctly include transitions.
I should receive a passing grade in this class because I can write now. Not just an exaggeration, but after another semester of English I finally feel confident that can write. Three of the reasons behind my confidence is I learned, I experienced and best of all I repeated. These three values helped prepare me for what is in store in English 1302 and here is why.
I, for one, it was quite a stressful experience before this course. Starting the paper was one of the main challenging elements of the writing process which I was faced with most of the time. For many unproductive hours, I would simply stare blankly at my writing computer screen while blank thoughts ran through my mind. Nevertheless, among many techniques that I erudite, free-writing is one of the most important step of writing, and had proven to be effective on my writing process. With my problem of not being able to generate ideas to put down on the paper, free-writing has helped me a tremendously. Proper free-writing helps a writer in ways beyond his or her imagination. For instance, when you free-write, your brain generates ideas that even a writer himself or herself might find hard to engender or grasp. Since the writer is not restricted when free-writing, your imagination is your limitation; you reserve the right to literally write about any number of themes which comes to mind. From these themes which you generate, you can then select what you feel fits best your argument. This is the advantage that I have come to realize in free-writing. Through this course, I have come to learn that everything requires just enough preparation in order for someone to tackle a particular task. Free-writing my papers at first, has made me more aware of my progress throughout the entire time of writing and certain aspects of my paper that I can improve on. Additionally, Free-writing has helped me realize that your paper can always improve; there are always new ideas firing in your mind. With free-writing you are able to capture these ideas on paper as they come to mind time after time. For future writings I will continue to work on my time allocation. Allocating your time properly is a crucial step in the process of writing. This allows to have ample time to complete all the sections in your writing. I
Around the world there are countries that still don’t allow some or all of their citizens to vote. However in America the right to vote is simply given to every American citizen over the age of 18. So you’d think that every US citizen over the age of 18 would be voting for everything, right? WRONG. Out of everyone in the US only 57% voted at our last presidential election. So out of the two hundred and forty-eight million people in the United States of as of November 30 who are eligible to vote only about 57% of the population will vote for the presidency. So out of two hundred and forty-eight million people only about one hundred and forty-three million citizens will cast their vote in the upcoming presidential election. And this is a vote
Since the beginning of time art has been a big part of culture and education. From indians paints stories on rock walls to Greek using are to create elaborate structures art has alway been a key role in many cultures. In today’s society the important of art is question. We want to big building with beautiful landscape, but we either take advantage of art or do not give it enough credit. Many people question whether classes such as art, drama, and theatre should still be part of the mandatory curriculum. In most schools you are required to take an art or drama class. In junior high school it is mandatory that you take an art class some time while you are attending junior high. In my opinion students all have different passions so it should not be mandatory, students should however be able to take those classes in high school, but unless you are getting ready to pursue such things in college they will not help you later on.
Over the period of time that I was in this course, I thought it would be a very simple and easy to finish class. But as time went on, I found myself to be demanded more of what I think, what I feel, what must be relied on my ability to understand the concepts and conventions of not only the essays, but of what goes on in the writers mind when writing.
