Many people have tattoos and never actually understood how tattoos last. Tattoos are permanent. A needle goes into the skin at rate of hundreds of vibrations a minute. The needle goes through the top layer of the skin, which is called the epidermis, and goes deeper into the skin to the dermis. The ink particles are huge for the white cells to remove. The dermis is balanced so the ink will last forever. Fading in the tattoo may occur as you grow older, but to remove a tattoo, you need to have a chemical peel, dermabrasion, or a laser procedure, which will take years to disappear.
When anyone decides to get a tattoo, they usually think the ink will last forever. Unfortunately, time is always not on our side when it comes to us getting older and having tattoos. Blake Schwaller- a tattoo artist, states, “With each splitting of a cell to create a new one, a small fraction of your tattoo ink moves to another location in the new cell ”(Schwaller,Blake- Section 4). As this process happens more and more, fading will result to the tattoo. The ink will also break down in the tissues of the skin causing it to spread and fade. There is not really a way to stop this process as new skin cells have to regenerate constantly.
In Kosut’s article “The Artification of Tattoo: Transformations within a Cultural Field”, the author takes a look at how tattoos are a form of art and should be seen this way. It also indicates how tattoo artists have to have a technical skill in order to do this job and should be seen as actual artists and not overlooked. In addition to having steady hands like a surgeon, tattoo artists create original work for their clients. If tattoo artists and their work were seen as a legitimate career, it would be even more likely that tattoos would be accepted in society.

Tattooing is the art of marking the skin with indelible patterns, pictures, or legends by making pricks and inserting colored ink. The word itself has its origins in the South Pacific. The art had been referred to as pricking, scarring, or staining until explorer Captain James Cook encountered the indigenous peoples of Tahiti. (Wilkinson 6)
Tattoos have been around for as long as I can remember. They started out as brandings for slaves, but now it’s become more of a piece of art that people add to themselves. Tattoos have become very popular in many parts of the world, particularly in Europe, Japan, and North and South America. The growth in tattoo culture has seen an increase of new artists into the industry, many of whom have excellent arts training. With advancements in tattoos and the ongoing upgrade of the equipment used for tattooing, this has led to an improvement in the quality and distinct look of tattoos. It is understood to be a symbol of remembrance, love, or just a way for someone to express themselves. Since this new hobby for some has started increasing, so has the policies for companies to hire people with tattoos. As an adult, I chose to put a few tattoos on my body as a symbol of things that I really cherish. Other people in my family also have tattoos, that are visible and some that are hidden from the public by clothing or materials. In today's global marketplace, employers are taking more seriously the need to provide a work environment that welcomes employees from many different backgrounds. Bringing it closer to home, my brother has an entire sleeve on both of his arms and my mom has one tattoo on her chest. He works in the oil field and my mom has been working at Celebrating Home for almost 15 years and things are going well without the tattoo issue getting in the way. This semester plan to research why companies really don’t like to hire potential employees with tattoos, and how prospective employee are affected. I also want to dig deeper into the negative imp...
Starting off as juices and markings, tattoos were nothing more than ways of identification and personalization. Rubbing juices extracted from plants onto your face and arms is the most notable to people. Also using bone needles and pigments to tattoo in a more modern fashion was common. Ancient descendants used what they had and although it wasn’t painless and easy, it worked.
Around the world, and for thousands of years, public areas have been illicitly defaced by criminals wielding all types of instruments to write, draw, or scratch with their individual purposes. Graffiti, as it’s called, is of course illegal, and is beginning to become hefty a problem in many urban areas. The amount of money put into cleaning buildings and cracking down on the offenders is outweighing the detestability the graffiti actually brings to a community; and that’s exactly where the argument lies. What about those who see graffiti in an optimistic manner? Many can urge that graffiti enlightens a society and should be cherished with the same amount of care as any other work of art. I, for one, strongly acknowledge that graffiti is in fact illegal, but also as an art; only when the purpose is an expression of those who made it. On the other hand, some see any form of public defacing as strictly vandalism, and therefore showing no artistic value.
We got in and looked around for a good long while. Finally some one came up and asked if he could help us. It was pretty good customer relations for the type of business. I told him that I wanted to get a tattoo, and had a design that I drew up. The day before that same guy gave me an estimation of eighty dollars for my design, so I made sure to mention that so that the price wouldn't rise while he was looking at it. He said okay, and went behind the counter to trace the design on special paper that puts an ink on your skin. When that happens the artist can trace the pattern instead of just doing something free hand.
“The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not twist them to fit our own image, otherwise we only love the reflection of ourselves we find in them”- Thomas Merton. That being said, relationships change when people themselves change. And one of the most difficult relationships is the father-daughter bond. It is especially hard when the daughter is coming of age. In the short story “The Golden Darters” Elizabeth Winthrop uses symbolism to show when a person is always controlled, she typically rebels, causing disappointment.
Dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries North American tattooing originated in the island of Tahiti, and other small pacific islands including Samoa and Hawaii (DeMello). The modification by U.S tattooists was to “fit a local sensibility emphasizing patriotism rather than exoticism” (DeMello). Martin Hildebrandt, was the first known tattoo artist in the United States as a professional. Shortly after the first mechanical tattooing machine was created, up until this point tattoos had been done by hand. A tattoo machine was invented because tattoos become a fad with mili...
Different artists are better at some styles than others. Think about your decision for a long period of time before acting on it. This is a permanent action. Research the reviews of the tattoo parlor and make sure that they have a clean reputation. Avoiding any infections or adverse reactions should be a priority. Ask many questions about the after-care of your tattoo and if there is a better season to get one. Contemplate the position of your tattoo and how that will affect you in the long term. Consider the content of your tattoo. Is it something that will be a positive effect on your life? Fads will come and go but the ink will last
