Imagine yourself locked up in a cold, dirty cage, without any sort of rights. You can't move around as you wish, force-fed substances you never seen, you get harmful chemicals rubbed into your skin or dripped into your eyes, purposely exposed to toxic drugs, chemicals and fumes, and forced to undergo painful shots that affect you mentally and physically. I know, it sounds horrible and it gets worse. You get an injury, a severe open wound, you're in the cage and can barely move. There are people around you, but they do nothing but observe you and take notes. This is what millions of animals who end up in laboratories feel: abused, neglected, hopeless, helpless and hurt. Animal testing is wrong, and I believe it should be banned. Every year, more than 115 million animals are used in laboratory experiments. Within the European Union, more than 12 million animals are used and more than 100 million are killed in the Unites States alone from testing. Because only a small percentage of …show more content…
Stay away from buying and paying taxes for products that were animal tested. According to People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the following companies test on animals. Covergirl, Pantene, Aveeno, Clean & Clear, Dove, Johnson & Johnson, Pampers, St. Ives, Vaseline, Clorox, Glade, Tide, Windex and so much more. Why would you even want to buy these products anyway? Sure one could be your favorite smell of shampoo but, the fact that they test on animals, means the company isn't confident enough that it's safe. Doesn't it make sense? Consumers have a lot more options to buy products that don’t test on animals, including Avalon Organics, Alba Botanica, Aveda, 365 Everyday Value, Lush Handmade Cosmetics, The Body Shop and oh, of course the famously loved Bath & Body Works. These companies are confident and assured enough that their products are safe for humans and know that they don't have to test it on animals for
When you make the choice to adopt a pet from the humane society you are providing that animal with a better quality of life.
Right now, millions or animals including mice, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and others are locked inside cold cages in laboratories across the country. More than 100 million animals each year suffer and die from chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests as well as biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity-driven medical experiments at universities. Throughout history, animal testing has played an important role in harming animals for human advantages, making many animals suffer. Animal testing should be excluded because its inhumane, violates the rights of animals, and there are safer alternatives.
Specific Purpose – To persuade my audience that animal testing is wrong and how other safer alternatives should be taken.
the fda reports that 92 our of every 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans
Since ancient times, animals have been the subjects of medical and safety testing. But only relatively recently has discontent been expressed by large numbers of people. Referred to as animal rights activists, this displeasured community condemns all animal use in medical, product testing, and research experiments despite the beneficiary outcomes because they firmly believe that interfering with another living creature’s life is immorally and ethically wrong. One individual who sides with the activists is named Jamie Aronson. Having earned a Ph.D from the University of Massachusetts located in Boston, Aronson affirms that “animals do not have a voice in our society.” Opposing Aronson is the duo of Patricia George and professor of State University
Every year millions of animals are abused, injured, and hurt. It seems as if humans are not very concerned about animal rights according to these statistics.. Animal rights is the idea that animals should not have to suffer and be able to be in possession of their life. Some people are willing to sacrifice things such as certain brands of makeup or certain kinds of food to improve animal welfare. For many years animals have been experimented on and placed in factory farms. Factory farming is a method of producing food products where the factories value how much they produce and how much they profit over the welfare of the animals. These farms keep animals confined in small spaces and make the animals eat things they were not originally
To begin, animal testing is a problem in today’s society because it is inhumane, and enormously cruel, this is considered animal abuse. Like humans, animals can feel the agony and fear, as well as, happiness and contentment. There are many animals who are incarcerated in laboratories, instead of casually interacting with other animals for fun. For instance, the article, Human Science is Superior Science states, “Animals in labs live stressful, monotonous, and unnatural lives of daily confinement and deprivation”
Imagine not having a choice and being used for experimenting without having any say at all. For everyone, this seems like a horrible nightmare; for animals this nightmare is their reality. It is unethical to sentence animals to life in a lab cage and to intentionally cause them excruciating pain. Industries even cram multiple animals at a time in a single cage where they are all subjected to food and water deprivation, forced feeding, forced inhalation, and long periods of phsycial restraint. Through the process, animals can be burned, poisoned, given diseases such as cancer, blinded, paralyzed and brain damaged. According to Humane Society International, most are even encountered with inflictions of burns and other wounds to examine the healing processes. Also with pain to study its effects caused from these experiments. These animals are rarely offered any form of pain relief, and in some cases, may be left to suffer until they eventually die. The poor, traumatized animals used in experiments are treated like nothing more than disposable lab equipment. Like humans, they can feel pain and fear. Just because they don't have the same abilities as humans doesn’t mean their life has any less value to them. That’s why these helpless and defenseless animals should stop being taken advantage of. The world does not need another mascara, shampoo, or household cleaning product so badly that it should come at
Every year about 100 million animals suffer through being poisoned, shocked, and burned for unsuccessful medical research. Some may believe that animal testing is a crucial part to medical research and should be used more frequently. Others believe the pain and suffering inflicted upon the animals is morally wrong and should not be done, no matter what benefits come from it.
“Over 1 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs” according to DoSomething.org. And although these animals may be considered protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) they are still able to be tortured and mistreated in labs. On top of all this, there is absolutely no guarantee that results and data collected from these procedures are accurate. Our anatomic builds are similar in ways but not at all interchangeable. Even though it has saved lives, animal experimentation should be banned because it is not a guarantee that these procedures are done pain free and humans and animals react differently to the medicines and chemicals used.
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to act aganist animal testing because it is cruel and inhumane.
Animal abuse for pets can range from neglecting to take care of the animal to the actual deliberate abuse of the animal such as beating, shooting, stabbing, or lighting the animal on fire.
The sun dried grass crunched under David’s feet as he reached the mailbox, sweat plastering his golden hair to his forehead. The rural landscape of Shark Bay is bone dry; the lingering heat wave serving as a slap in the face with the wind blowing what is left of his fields into whirlwinds of dirt. His was once a land of luscious green landscape, the soft air turned branches into wind chimes as the trees swayed. These same trees have been bleached by the heat ridden gusts carving tortured sculpture in their trunks. Some might now see this world as one of desolate wasteland but David grew up with the land, this land was a living, growing friend that he knew, loved, and cared for as much as he did his wife and children.
Imagine your sweet cat locked in a cage inside a laboratory with other various animals. Millions of animals every year are locked up in labs for testing. Animals are used to test medications, cosmetics, biology lessons, and for medical training. Thousands of mice, rats, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are used for testing. Most of these animals will die in cruel testing experiments. Animal testing is tortures to the animals, an unreliable option for medication, and there are better safer options for testing.
Animals are used in research to develop new medicines and for scientists to test the safety of the medicines. This animal testing is called vivisection. Research is being carried out at universities, medical schools and even in primary and elementary schools as well as in commercial facilities which provide animal experiments to industry. (UK Parliament) In addition, animals are also used in cosmetic testing, toxicology tests, “defense research” and “xenotransplantation”. All around the world, a huge amount of animals are sentenced to life in a laboratory cage and they are obliged to feel loneliness and pain. In addition scientists causing pain, most drugs that pas successfully in animals fail in humans. It is qualified as a bad science. Above all, animals have rights not to be harmed even though the Animal Welfare Act does not provide them even with minimal protection. The law does not find it necessary to use current alternatives to animals, even if they are obtainable. Animal testing should be banned due to animal rights, ethical issues, alternative ways and the unreliability of test results in humans.
