Recommended: Animal testing is unnecessary
Right now, millions or animals including mice, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and others are locked inside cold cages in laboratories across the country. More than 100 million animals each year suffer and die from chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests as well as biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity-driven medical experiments at universities. Throughout history, animal testing has played an important role in harming animals for human advantages, making many animals suffer. Animal testing should be excluded because its inhumane, violates the rights of animals, and there are safer alternatives. Each year, millions of animals, ranging from mice to monkeys, suffer through the cruel and inhumane practice of animal testing. Scientist throughout the world are torturing animals for mankind’s own benefit, which is unreliable in most cases. “According to Humane Society International, animals that are used in experiments are commonly subjected to force feeding, forced inhalation, food and water deprivation, prolonged periods of physical restraint, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing processes and the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies.” Although humans often benefit from successful animal research, these animals do not have a voice to say no. The pain, suffering, and deaths inflicted on these animals are not worth the possible human benefits. Scientist test the animals for many products that we humans can use (makeup, medicine, etc.). Many of the items we purchase on a regular basis have been tested on animals first. Most of the animal testing is unreliable. A lot of these tests that are performed on the animals have... ... middle of paper ... ... often more reliable then animal test. In most cases, when scientist test animals it may work on the animals but does not always work on a human. Safer alternatives make it easier to not harm an animal and to always get reliable results. In conclusion, animals should not have to go through the harmful and painful practices of animal testing because it’s humane, it violates the rights of animals and there are safer and more reliable alternatives. There are so many different reasons to stop animal testing, all of these things are done to animals in laboratories but if they were to be done outside of these places they would all be considered as crimes, so why should it be legal in laboratories? Animal testing is not only inherently wrong, but promotes unsafe and inhumane business practices that affects the animal’s life. Animal testing should be stopped immediately.
Over 100 Million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in testing labs every year. Animals are used to test the safety of products, advance scientific research, and develop models to study disease and to develop new medical treatments, all for the sake of mankind. Animals should not be used for scientific research because animal testing is inhumane, other testing methods now exist, and animals are very different from human beings. While animal testing has led to many life-saving cures, animal testing is cruel and inhumane because it involves inflicting pain and harm on the test subject to study its effects and remedies. Testing involves physically restraining, force-feeding, and depriving animals of food and water.
Animals are used as a part of experimentations in order to accomplish new openings. A few individuals think that it is satisfactory, while others contend that it is not moral to sacrifice animals for science. Estimated, that fifty to one hundred million of animals are used for tests in the world. Despite the significance of experiments, the quantity of animals and purpose of research are not under any control. Animals testing should be banned under a few circumstances; we can enhance the situation by using alternative ways such as replacement, reduction, and refinement according to International Society for Applied Ethology.
“The question is not, can they reason, nor, can they talk. But can they suffer?” (Bentham). Each year over a hundred million animals endure a number of experiments in an attempt to make human lives easier. These experiments range from cosmetic testing to medical research, sadly neither of these tests are needed. Many people will accept animal research because they believe that these animals aren’t suffering (“Harm and Suffering”) or they believe that animal testing in beneficial to humans. In reality, these animals suffer for mankind, when the need does not exist. Animal testing creates unnecessary pain and suffering for animals, when in reality most experiments will not benefit human health.
Animal testing should not be allowed because it abuses animals who cannot defend themselves. It is clear that there are other ways to test medicines, vaccines, and procedures but the government still allows people to test on animals. It is unfair to abuse an animal that cannot defend itself when 7 billion people are on the earth who would give more accurate feedback. The number of people is overwhelming that could instead of abusing animals, we could test on inmates and volunteers who can consent to the possible issues that may come with the tests. Animal testing should not be allowed because it leads to animal cruelty and does not allow us to exercise other methods of
Every year there are tens of millions of animals like rats, dogs, birds, and farm animals that are killed to discover new information on medical discoveries, product testing, and for educational purposes. Many believe animal testing is inhumane because just like humans, animals feel pain as well, but others believe we should not treat animals as moral equals. However, in the recent years there have been new products introduced to decrease the use of animal testing or even possibly completely stopping it.
Today, millions of animals are being tested for the use of human products, causing them to fall ill and die, leaving them no choice but to be experimented on. Animal abuse can be more than what meets the eye. Specifically, animal testing is a form of animal abuse and usually ends in the death of a harmless animal. Some might say that there is no other way to test products, but due to the harm that is done and our advancements in science, animal testing should not be tolerated. Our advancements in science have enabled us to create other things that we can test on, instead of harming innocent animals.
“Over 1 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in U.S. labs” according to DoSomething.org. And although these animals may be considered protected under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) they are still able to be tortured and mistreated in labs. On top of all this, there is absolutely no guarantee that results and data collected from these procedures are accurate. Our anatomic builds are similar in ways but not at all interchangeable. Even though it has saved lives, animal experimentation should be banned because it is not a guarantee that these procedures are done pain free and humans and animals react differently to the medicines and chemicals used.
Majority of the animals that are used, are flawed which means poor results and wasting an animal’s life. Studies have shown that many medical breakthrough could have been done with the usage of animal subjects. If animals aren’t willingly giving their lives or wanting to go through painful and traumatizing procedures animal testing should be illegal. In other words it is unnecessary when there are alternative ways that can produce better
In conclusion, there are so many reasons to stop animal testing but also there are reasons why they do it. Animal testing should be banned since we do not have the right to kill animals. Medical research can be done with other technology instead of using animals to harm. Make-up and clothing can use cruelty free products or just anything natural instead of using it on animal skin and eye. It’s inhumane to just sit around, buy products that use animals in lab, and watch animals die and suffer
With the products that improve the quality of life popping up every day, it leaves you wondering how these products have become so perfected. A big part of that is in prior animal testing. While animal testing is sometimes highlighted from time to time, it is not commonly thought of when using a product. Highly rated shampoo? It was most likely tested on an animal beforehand. Animal testing in many cases can leave a physical and psychological impact on animals that are irreversible. Animal testing in an experiment is cruelty. Experiments can go wrong if something unexpected happens or there is an error in judgment. After these experiments, the animals may never be the same and that is if they’re not killed after the experiment
Hundreds of millions of animals die every year from animal testing in the United States. Innocent animals are used everyday in laboratories for biology advancements, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetic testing. They are used to provide information to make better products that are safe for human use. Although animal experimentation has some benefits, the negatives outweigh the positives. Animal testing is killing off innocent beings for possible human benefit, and with modern technology there are alternative ways to test products that leave animals unharmed.
Animal research is a very hot topic for many people. There are two sides to this argument, with both having strong opinions. One side is strongly against researching and testing done on animals, and the other side is strongly for testing and experimentation on animals.
Over 100 million animals are abused in labs for research and experimentation of products such as cosmetics and medicines. Animal testing is the use of live animals for experimentation of products such as cosmetics or medicine and observation of behavior. Some of what these animals have to go through is inhaling toxic fumes, being burned, being immobilized for hours. All animals used for experimentation are deprived of their natural habitat. Even though testing is necessary for the safety of consumer products, animal testing should be illegal because it is unethical to cause animals pain and suffering, there are other alternatives to test products, and most tests made on animals fail on humans.
“The US Department of Agriculture reported in 2010 that 97,123 animals suffered pain during experiments while given no anesthesia for relief. ‘“1,395 primates; 5,996 rabbits; 33,652 guinea pigs; 48,015 hamsters.” (Should Animals Be used for Scientific or Commercial Testing?) These numbers are outrageous and these animals should not be treated in this manner. People who are using animals for testing and saying that they are using them for “scientific advances” are right in the fact that animal testing has helped us advance in medical science but are wrong in the treatment of animals; it’s inhumane and cruel. And although animal testing can help us advance in the medical field, it is cruel and inhumane because the animals that are being tested
According to the article” Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing,” animals’ rights are violated when the sciences are doing the research and there are many similar ways between humans and animals, such as how they feel and behave. Even though animals cannot express their opinions, they still feel, think, and experience pain. When the sciences use animals to do the research, humans still need to respect them because of animals’ rights. Animals have their opinions they cannot explain and humans have a duty to protect animals’ rights. Animal testing should be banned because humans need to respect their minds.
