The Personal Wellness Assignment helped me connect four areas of my health, sleep, nutrition, fitness, and energy. While I was documenting data every day for each of the four areas of health, I recognized some patterns. I noticed that my energy scores were overall lower on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays because I am busy with sports on those days. Also, my fitness scores were low on Monday and Wednesday because I had a lot of homework to do, so I had a minimum amount of time to do fitness. Next, I saw some connections between the areas of health. My graph shows that whenever my sleep scores are high, my nutrition numbers are high as well. This maybe because those who are sleep-deprived tend to eat foods high in fat, simple carbohydrates,
Direct Observation during access to food. Settings varied but study was conducted over 28 days.
Health is an individual’s ability as well as communities to reach their potential. Health is not the absence of sickness, as measured by clinical presentations, but of a functioning sound body, soul and spirit. The World Health Organization defines health as an optimistic notion putting emphasis on social, personal means and physical capabilities (WHO, 1998). Health promotion practice has many phases that guide and ensure its effectiveness. It serves to prevent the development major health problems; this ideal also needs to be incorporated fused into nursing students’ learning curricula in order have a successful outcome. In addition, health promotion should also be included in the health program
The dimensions of health make-up and create an image of our overall health. This paper will refer to the dimensions of health in relation to myself, and what health change within one dimension would be beneficial to my health as a whole. Health, as defined by the World Health Organization (2014), is a state of total physical, mental and social well-being, not just when disease, illness or injury are absent (p. 1). My definition of health focuses on feeling well enough to perform everyday tasks and to perform these tasks to the best of my ability.
Environmental and intellectual wellness were my highest ranked scores and my lowest ranked score was in the occupational domain. Through observing the other domains of wellness I believe that this makes perfect sense in relation to my lifestyle and myself as a whole. The highest scores are due to my interest and satisfaction in these areas. Both environmental and intellectual wellness had factors which I voluntarily partake in my daily life. The lowest ranked score is due to an overall lack of interest and comfort. My wellness scores do not come as a surprise to me and solely offer different viewpoints of what I think properly describes my current health.
Reflecting back on the all the information learned this semester, I am amazed at how much I learned. Working in healthcare makes you aware of a lot of the topics that were covered, however, when you apply it to yourself, in a personal relationship, it becomes much more powerful what the impact of each topic is.
Historically, the nursing profession has been actively involved in the health promotion and disease prevention among the general public. However, while caring for others, nurses often neglect their personal safety, which ultimately results in the high level of work-related injuries. Failure to timely address risk factors for nursing can have dire consequences for patient outcomes, since it is often associated with increased medication errors and patient falls, poor quality of care, and permanent disability of the nursing staff (Stokowski, 2014).
In conclusion, having a healthy lifestyle helps reduce the risk of health problems, whether you have a family history of diseases or not. Physical activity, and making smart choices with how much you consume and what you consume can expand your lifespan. Being aware of your body composition can help identify your risk classification, and it can help plan a way to avoid diseases. Just like too much body fat can be harmful to health, having too little fat can also be crucial to a person’s health. The goal should be to have a balanced calorie intake and physical activity (calorie in = calorie out) for a healthy lifestyle.

When picking a health habit that I would like to challenge myself, there were many that I want to choose but I want to choose something that I know that I can fully commit to it and know that I can do it. I want to start something small and then in the future if I want to challenge myself then I will gradually go for a health habit that is more challenging. The health habit that I decide to go with was eliminating my intake on soft drinks or drinks that have high sugar including drinks that contain high-fructose corn syrup. In addition, I want to drink more water because I notice that I do not drink enough water, therefore, I want to incorporate that into my life. I chose this health habit because I notice that my intake of sugar is high and I want to stop myself from doing it but I cannot be commit to it.
Western culture stresses ultimate dedication in the workplace, often at the expense of an employee’s mental well-being. Individuals will work holidays, arrive early and leave late, and attend all outside work functions in hopes of finding themselves in opportunities for advancement more often than others. After centuries of being slaves to the desks and nine-to-five workday, the new millennial culture has begun to reconsider the life sentence of work before personal lives. In this paper, I investigate what exactly has led to holistic health, alternative medicines, and preventative care take a place in society as a profitable part of our culture in the following: by detailing the increase of healthcare costs; the impact of the recent definition

Any individual that leads a healthy lifestyle will say that healthy living is more than just a fad or goal, it’s a way of life. Changing certain aspects of one’s current lifestyle to become healthier is not the final goal, rather, the objective of setting these short and long term goals is maintenance. Therefore, I choose to change an aspect of my current lifestyle that I felt would facilitate the improvement of my health and would later become a change that I can maintain over the course of my life; I choose to increase the amount of water I drink per day to improve my inner bodily health. I decided on this change because I feel that setting a smaller goal that I could easily monitor and execute will expedite future changes to my lifestyle,

Previously to taking this class, I had never given much thought to my eating habits. I always thought of the way I chose to eat as one of those things I didn’t need to concern myself with too heavily now because I’m a young broke college student. The way I eat is pretty similar to the way most of my friends eat and when you live away from home, that seems like the norm for people in college. However, after applying what I’ve learned in this class to my life, I’ve realized that the dietary choices I make now affect not only my current health, but my future health as well. So overall, I would say that my eating habits are pretty bad, but I’m working on making them better.
