“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” A quote from the famous writer, Mark Twain, and a quote that constantly aspires me to figure what I am most passionate about in this life.
As a child, I was naturally a curious being. I asked questions, wandered in to places that drew my attention; a seemingly dangerous trait that somehow shaped me as person. Because of this natural curiosity, I realize that I have managed to build an interest in the idea and the process of learning new things, especially when it comes to life sciences and her mother core, biology.
There was a moment in my life where I was very susceptible to diseases. So it’s sad to say that hospital visits became something

As a member of the medical team, I am required to build cooperation among my teammates when it came to dealing with matters relating to the eventgoers’ health, especially if there’s an emergency during the event. From that experience, I realized that this is exactly how I wanted to contribute to the society and to many people.
Finally, upon months and months of contemplation, by combining both my passions for science and society, I decided to pursue the life of a doctor.
I have several time proven success when it comes to my ability in my said interests and talents. For once, I am always able to secure a spot in my school’s top 10. I was also selected to represent my school to participate in a scientific paper competition on the utilization of food waste in a diet program, and gratefully, I have obtained first place in the MGMP English champion back in 2012 at the provincial

With that being said, I need the best education from renowned institutions to teach me how to become this doctor I crave to be. I strongly believe the University of Indonesia is able help me to reach my full potential and become a gateway to help me follow my passion. Moreover, the University of Indonesia’s International Programme, which offers a double degree diploma, will be extremely beneficial for me, for it gives me excellent international-quality education and an opportunity to have an education overseas. This way, I am able to become an internationally-qualified doctor with an exceptional sense of global knowledge. I believe these are the elements needed to help Indonesia’s medical world progress to an even better state, especially in an era that needs more young and talented medical experts to bring joy and health to the people of this country, and perhaps the whole world. Aside from the academic aspects, I also believe that the University of Indonesia is the right community to improve my organization skills and to help me enhance another passion of mine, which is
...to communicate with your patient in order for them to be updated with their family’s sickness. And also have compassion towards them. You are likely to see a lot of injuries and scenarios play out among patients that have been admitted to the hospital. There are many achievements in this field that you may accomplish. And priorities that you have to deal with. For instants your time you have to adjust your schedule.
A question I have been asked more often than not, “What would you rather be if not a doctor?” Well, my journey as a doctor has seen a share of crests and troughs, but I will not have it any other way. I am a book lover, and every good read is time saved; I have trekked mountains, and every step brought forth a sense of achievement; I have been recognized for my English debating skills many a time. Every cup held was precious, but none of it so fulfilling and rewarding as another human being trusting you with his breath. This texture of human relationships is unique to this profession, and is probably what makes it sublime to the eyes of a common man.
My affinity for biology comes from my childhood days that I spent watching dissection of rats and looking at the cellular structure under microscope. My mother, being a professor of biology regularly used to take me with her to a Biology lab and that is where my journey towards medical career began. Early on in my life, my family went through a long agony of my father's illness and death. This became a solitary stimulus for me to take up this profession and a driving force to strive for excellence. Going through that turmoil of recurrent hospital visits gave me a firsthand experience of an anguishing family.
The purpose of the Inter-professional Event was to develop team skills among various health professionals. Thus, the three main concepts that I found was useful in the session were; first is the teamwork because by working as a team in healthcare will help us keep our patient safe; the second is communication because it will help us to minimize our mistakes; and the third is pre-briefing because it will keep the team members on a same page so that everyone will have the same goals. One of the examples about the PAN-AM air jet discussed by Dr. Cohen in his lecture has allowed me to understand that if the co-pilot has raised his voice at that time, then he could have saved many peoples ' lives; therefore, it is important to always speak up. One thing that I have learned from one of the group activities called “tallest
People all over the world enter health care facilities and hope to be taken care of in an effective, sufficient and safe manner. Patients want to know that their health care provides care for their well being and want what is best for them. They wish to be cared for in a way that demonstrates that they are the most important person in the room. Sometimes not all patients get the kind of care that they expect and most importantly deserve. I am happy to say that the patient I interviewed (patient C) had a pleasant experience during their time at their health care facility. I am sharing this story because people should know that there are medical personnel that care for patients the way Patient C’s health care team cared for her. Patient C’s trip
My desire of studying biomedical sciences stems from my sciences interest, as it demonstrates a world not visible to the naked eye, plays a big role in everyday life. science specifically biology and chemistry are stimulating and challenging subjects , over the years of studying them ,my interest has increased because learning things about how our bodies function and how it relates to god’s creation is particularly interesting for me. I also find it very important because I’m Muslim. The biomedical science degree will open for me the door to learn more about the vast field of biology and its branches to a greater depth. I developed my knowledge in the science field by taking support classes in the lab at school; I was fascinated by how the body can function in different circumstances and the complexity of DNA, different organisms, chemical reactions, and also very importantly the mathematical aspect which gives me the chance to develop and use my logic and it inform me to new ways of looking at given problems.
A team can be best defined as “a small number of people with complementary skills, committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approaches for which they hold themselves mutually accountable” (Katzenbach & Smith, 1993, p. 46). A healthcare organization can achieve success only when every member of the team works collaboratively as a unit and understands the context of the teamwork to the greatest degree possible. Intensive care unit is a high risk area of health care, which needs a high-functioning, cohesive, and coordinated team to deliver safe and effective care to the patients. Lack of efficient teamwork among and between the teams of caregivers could result in serious patient safety consequences (Borkowski, 2015). Moreover, there
Because of the difference in the way teachers taught student, I had difficulty in catching up with students but as the time passed, I was able to assimilate myself into this new culture and was able to get the highest in Chemistry and Physics Advanced Placement classes. Even in the college, I tried my best to become one of the top students and as a result, I was able to get All Florida Academic Team award. This award was awarded to only thirty students in the Florida out of which two students were from the Valencia College. Among those two students from the Valencia College, I was selected to be one of them. All this encouragement and awards further made it possible for me to pursue this path of becoming the medical
While this careis ongoing, communication of information to members of the collaborative team have to be ensured to avoid confusion and repeatation of care. An adage says ‘respect is reciprocal” hence, avoid disrespecting each other while giving health care. Ensure that you have confidence in the care been rendered by members of the team.
My dedication to the subject is not limited to the classroom environment; I have read various articles on topics such as antibiotic resistance and genetics to further expand upon my passion for the subject and develop a higher level of understanding on current issues within the discipline.
My career choice further took its shape when I saw the pride in my parents’ eyes on my sister’s acceptance into medical school. After that, I had seven more years to delve this endeavor and the more I thought about it, the more so it became clear that I am carved to be a doctor. Of course, if I have to practice medicine I have to practiceitwithutmostexcellence. However, mylearningwouldcomebeforethat. InmylateteensI became interested in motorbikes.
I started to explore the different fields of medicine by working as a Medical Scribe in the Emergency Department, ER tech in Trauma Centers, getting involved in research, volunteering at hospitals and taking high level science classes. This will enhance my knowledge and experience i...
What am I good at? - As an avid participant in other various middle school competitions, such as Science Olympiad, as well as projects which required intensive knowledge about distinctive STEM subjects, I’ve attained many skills that would be beneficial towards document-based events. By implementing good sources, communicating data and complex ideas throughout my writing, and successfully persuading the reader to uphold my solution above the rest, I’ve made sure my paper is presented to the best of my ability with the most accurate information. Similarly, by having the ability to summarize and explain my research to others, it’s established an immense amount of success in various types of interviews and presentations. Additionally, due to my vast amount of exposure to different display techniques during assignments and other collaborations, I’ve been able to design informative, interactive, and visually appealing displays that draw the reader in and accurately showcase the main ideas of our project.
A liking for science, and a passion towards technology enabled me to choose Earth Science as a profession. From a very younger age I became very passionate about the day to day marvels of science happened around this curiosity of mine eventually was discovered by my teachers and to have a better understanding on every day science I took science subjects in my O and A levels.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending mystery and every answer has questions, and vice versa. Upon entering my career, I had assumed that professional and financial success would surely bring personal fulfillment. This realization triggered a process of self-searching that led me to medicine. The commitment to provide others with healthcare is a serious decision for anyone. As I examined my interests and goals, however, I underwent a process of personal growth that has propelled me towards a career as a physician. A career in medicine will allow me to integrate thoroughly my passion for science into a public-service framework. Since childhood, I have loved acquiring scientific knowledge, particularly involving biological processes. During my undergraduate studies, I displayed my ability to juggle competing demands while still maintaining my academic focus; I have succeeded at school while volunteering part time, spending time with family and friends, and working part-time. To better serve my expected patient population, I worked over my English and Korean language skills. I have come to discover that a job and even a good income, without another significant purpose, will not bring satisfaction. I planed to utilize my assets, namely my problem- solving affinity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal commitment, to craft a stimulating, personally rewarding career in medicine. I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
