Teen pregnancy is estimated to cost U.S. taxpayers between 9.4 and 28 billion dollars a year (Hoffman and Maynard). Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) are multiple projects that focus on education youth ages 10 to 19 about responsible sexual behavior, healthy relationships, financial literacy, and other topics to better enhance a better look of their future. PREP provides $75 million annually through FY 2017 to fund evidence-based programs that emphasize both abstinence and contraception and educate adolescents on how to prevent pregnancy and STIs. Not only does it teaches teens not to become teen parents, but it also supports pregnant and parenting teens.
The close relationship between teen pregnancy and educational achievement,
There is no question that today’s political landscape comes with many questions, concerns, and fears for our future. With the country divided and tensions rising seemingly every day, government is increasingly coming under scrutiny and perception are far from favorable these days. I think it is important that we reexamine the roles of government and understand how and why it operates as it does. I think the first and most important aspect of modern government is the idea of accountability. In class, we discussed the idea of a “golden circle of accountability.” In summary, this idea realizes that all aspects of government have a civic duty to serve society. In this regard, they are “accountable,” through the many levels of the golden circle,
Introduction Based on data compiled over a five-year period, Bustin (2014) discovered that the greatest threat that businesses faced in trying to accomplish and maintain a high level of performance, was the lack of accountability. This information he was able to glean from his interviews with over 3500 executives worldwide. He concluded that most businesses were not operating effectively, because of accountability issues. Accountability therefore, is a critical component in the efficient operation of a business, and therefore the leadership of every business needs to develop a culture of accountability within the organization. In order to facilitate this process, Bustin (2014) compiled the principles and practices that he gleaned from the executives he interviewed, and from those evolved his Seven Pillars of Accountability.
The Alabama Educator Code of Ethics is designed for every educator in the state of Alabama. The Code must be implemented for the safety of students and educators. The goal of the Alabama Code of Ethics can be accomplished as long as all educators value the worth and dignity of all students, parents, and staff. There are nine Alabama Educator Code of Ethics and Standard 1: Professional Conduct, Standard 4: Teacher/Student Relationship and Standard 5: Alcohol, Drug and Tobacco Use of Possession are the most important standards.
Within the case study of Billy it is evident that the teacher was willing to grant the extension; however there are ethical issues which go against this action. For Billy he may compromise the subject grade due to missing a deadline when submitting his work, on the other hand it is his first time and it is contrasting to his usual behaviour. There are three types of ethics that can be used to argue the case study, firstly consequentialism, this being that when an individual is faced with different choices they should determine the act that promotes better outcomes (Eggleston, 2005). Secondly deontology discusses the moral rightness and this claims that people have certain duties that should be adhered to (Booth, 2008), meaning that rules should be followed regardless of the outcomes. Finally, contextualism believes that no two cases are the same; they follow a strict set of ethical rules which can be altered if the outcome leads to greater good (BBC, 2013). These three theorists each have an ideology of how the teacher should act within the case study, all having their own differing opinions and views.
In the speech “The purpose of education” by Martin Luther King Jr. was about how college students have to think about what successful things they want to be in their life.He wants to inspire them to be a better person the community and to society. MLK is also advising the college students to take advantage of their education that they are receiving because getting accepted into a college is hard for colleges to accept their incoming freshman, when they are applying to a community college or a four year university.Sometimes colleges don't accept them because of their grades, they dropped out of any advance placement classes, dropped out of honors classes, or never took any AP/Honors class throughout their junior high and high school experience.
Issues such as increasing student diversity, fiscal problems, and identifying accountability measures have continued to plague all areas of higher education (Laanan, 2001). As community colleges continue to increase their status in higher education, the federal government is continuing to identify polices and legislation that will aid in their overall growth and sustainability. The federal government has played a significant role in community colleges by providing funding, polices and legislation that force community colleges accountability. Community colleges have become an essential role in higher education because of accessible and affordable education that they provide. In the 21st century, community colleges leaders must ensure that they are abreast of polices and trends that place a direct effect on their foundation.
When we talk about education, we remember our teachers of elementary, middle and high school because they left their mark on our lives, and are who we truly taught things that even we , and we have to our knowledge, is that the main purpose of my philosophy educational. The basis of my educational philosophy pragmatism. The goal of education for pragmatists is the socialization of the individual and the transmission of cultural ideas of man to new generations. In this way, new generations have no need to repeat it step by step, the experiences of their ancestors (Riestra, 1970). The school must be active in developing critical thinking in the learner. This should not be a passive entity in the process of their education, you must learn to learn . The school must prepare students for this interaction with their environment that is always changing.
IEP stands for Individualized Education Program. An IEP is a written document required for each child who is eligible to receive special education services. It is provided to a student who has been determined first to have a disability, and second, to need special education services because of that disability. An IEP is very important and should never be overlooked by anyone. The purpose of an IEP is to make sure that only students whose educational performance is affected by a disability receive special services. An individual program plan is designed to make sure that students get the kind of educational experience that they deserve; an experience that results in success. The end goals for students who are on an IEP are to be involved in
“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.” Responsibility is a big part I am at college and have a job here today which a reason for everyone but for me that didn’t sit in till freshman year of high school I was care free until football. What I had to do was to work together on the field also in the classroom or I would let the team down. Our coach always told us there is teamwork, hard work, and respectful will follow us around for the rest of your life that’s what we are going to learn. I would have to say looking back on it I definitely learn those things from what I did make a better person I would have to thank him for that too.
During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,

For idealists, a school’s primary focus is to refine the student’s intellectual process, as well implement exemplary models of behavior. Teachers would not only model ideal behaviors, but have full authoritative control over the classroom and the orderly process of educating students to strive for goodness. (“Five Educational Philosophies,” n.d.) Essentialists schooling is practical, with the focus on creating productive members of society, through basic curriculum of reading, writing, and arithmetic. Students are required to work hard, be respectful, and be disciplined, while teachers control classrooms through an authoritative approach (“Five Educational Philosophies,” n.d.).

The two philosophies that I have chosen to write about for my Education Philosophy Paper includes progressivism and existentialism. Progressivism focuses on the child rather than the subject matter. Due to society always changing, new ideas are important to make the future better than the past for students learning. This educational philosophy stresses that students should test ideas by active experimentation. Learning is rooted in the questions of learners that arise through experiencing the world. Progressivists believe that individuality, progress, and change are fundamental to one 's education. Existentialism is a highly subjective philosophy that stresses the importance of the individual and emotional commitment to living authentically. It emphasizes individual choice over
Over the last decade, the percentage of U.S. high school students who report having sexual intercourse has declined (Henshaw, 2003). Promisingly, the percent of U.S. teens surveyed also stated an increase in contraceptive use. Despite these positive trends, the United States still has one of the highest levels of teen pregnancy among developed countries and accounts for more than four million teens contracting sexually transmitted infections each year!
