Yosemite National Park: the trees towered above my head, delicate raindrops falling slowly from their leaves onto my cheeks. Warm morning sunlight peeked gently over the mountaintop, waking the forest and causing the light, misty rain to glisten gently. In the distance, birds announced the beginning of the new day with a soft morning song. Silvery rainclouds rolled across the golden summer sky, bringing with them a cool, misty wind which caused the trees around us to tremble, their damp leaves making a soft whooshing sound. The sun having risen halfway through the sky, now a soft blue-gray, we embarked on our adventure through the woods. The sun warmed us despite the cool rain which now poured down over the forest. We followed a river for a long while, which led us through dense green flora and slick gray rocks, which, upon reaching, I climbed until my head reached far above the trees. Fallen trees crisscrossed over the cliffs, forming bridges, and forested paths on either side assured safe passage to the less adventurous. I, however, took to the cliffs and trees, carefully making my way, alone, balancing across the narrow tree bridges which creaked with each step, a soft sound barely audible over the increasing volume of the roaring river. It was a challenge, but one I took gladly. And what a sight I beheld as a reward!
