As I was going through all the options from the phonics book, I decided to choose word roundup because it seemed exciting and easy to do. I remember thinking, how can I start explaining this assignment to my niece? How can I make it easier for her to understand? Will she be able to do it without me giving her the answers? I mentally prepared myself as this is new to me. My niece is a kindergarten student at Gonzalez Elementary. She is seven years old and gets distracted pretty easily with whatever noise she hears. Therefore, my first mission was to take her to a quiet place to get her full attention. Then, I started telling her that we would do a fun activity and if she answered correctly she would get rewarded. The first thing that popped
into my mind was to add pictures so my niece would have a better visual and awareness of each word so, I prepared myself with flashcards. For example, in front of each card I drew a big picture and in the back I would put the word. As I would say the word aloud my niece had to repeat after me. I tried to emphasize the beginning of each word so she can catch the sound of each letter and capture the words that begin the same.

Personal narratives allow you to share your life with others and vicariously experience the things that happen around you. Your job as a writer is to put the reader in the midst of the action letting him or her live through an experience. Although a great deal of writing has a thesis, stories are different. A good story creates a dramatic effect, makes us laugh, gives us pleasurable fright, and/or gets us on the edge of our seats. A story has done its job if we can say, "Yes, that captures what living with my father feels like," or "Yes, that’s what being cut from the football team felt like."
The work sample is a word problem worksheet on coins. The objective in this lesson was for students to solve problems using coins and the students had to either add up coins or subtract coins in this worksheet. Therefore, I was able to “match learning objectives with assessment methods”. Based on the work sample, the student correctly answered the questions that involved adding up coins but when she had to subtract coins, she got the answers incorrect because she assumed that the question involved adding up coins. It taught me that she did not know when to add or subtract when reading a word problem. As a result, I adjusted my instruction and taught the student to look for clue words such as, “in all” or “have left” when solving a word problem. I taught her that key words such as, how many are left, difference, how many more and fewer indicate that she needs to subtract. While, key words such as, altogether, in all, total and sum indicate that she needs to add. This show that I was able to “analyze the assessment and understood the gaps in her learning and use it to guide my instruction”. The student knew how to add and subtract but she had a difficult time knowing what operation to use when solving word problems. I provided the student with “effective and descriptive feedback” immediately after finishing her worksheet which helped her to improve her
Writing is a difficult and complex process which requires dedication to master. Even with all the time in the world, no final draft is going to be perfect and there are going to be a lot of bumps and bruises on the path towards your perfect essay. One must prepare to sit in complete isolation and a room with dead silence so frightening that you can hear your own thoughts. My time throughout Composition I has been an experience in which I finally put together all the aspects of writing such as integrating quotes, using present tense, expanding my vocabulary, and pinning down my grammatical errors. The grade that I deserve is an A because I have taken small steps to improve my writing and it has shown in my grade.

Most days end the same way. I get home at 4:00, the house is empty and quiet. I walk inside already grinning at what's to come after I put everything down. Then, in the span of two minutes, I'm sliding on the wood floors of the kitchen singing at the top of my lungs the certain song that's had the pleasure of being trapped in my head the whole day. Today i will be writing a personal narrative about an incident that changed my life. I will be talking about the time I flew over 3,000 miles to Alaska. Around the beginning of last summer my grandparents told me I was going to be going to Alaska on a cruise. In early June of last year was probably one of scariest moments of my life! I flew on a plane for the first time. The day of the flight was pretty scary; between being in an airport and going through security to actually flying on a plane! Once we got in the air I was able to relax and actually enjoy the flight. Being in the clouds and being able to look out over the earth was amazing. i'm glad i could have the experience of being on a plane with my family. We flew into Seattle which was fun because we went shopping and went to a really nice restaurant and then boarded a cruise ship that would take us through Alaska.
Every student dreams of going to college, but once you are enrolled it’s a challenge to achieve the goal of getting the degree. Weather it has been a friend, family member, or even a neighbor they have their ways of handling the conundrum. My friend Kevin, recently graduated this past year, started of in Middlesex for two years, and then he transferred to Rutgers to finish his career. He graduated from Rutgers and now is an accounting major. Kevin is amiable, hardworking, and deft. I was running, running as fast as I possibly could. I just couldn't get away. They were after me, I knew they were. I couldn't run forever, no one can. Here we are, 13 years old me. It was summer, in 2017. My friend Bryan and I were going into eighth grade, and starting to look at relationships more seriously. Bryan wasn’t really into them at this point, so when a girl started to like him, he didn’t care. We met this girl named Krista, from other friends. She was 5’3”, pale, funny, and caring. Krista immediately went after Bryan, doing whatever she could to make him happy. Bryan finally had to tell her how he actually felt. After doing so, she came to me. Looking for comfort, in which I gave her. We both started to catch feelings after talking for a week or so. Then one night, everything changed. She was mine, and I was hers. We had gone to Panera for a “first date” and we had a blast. We sat next to each other, I had my hand around her and her head was on my shoulder. I don’t think I had ever been so happy in my whole life. All I could think was, how did I, pale, short, athletic, and crazy, get a girl like that.

Through the implementation of my lesson, I learned I have to work on the assessment and the details of lesson planning. During the planning of this lesson, the assessment was an aspect that needed more thought. The students had a problem with reading the words for the word sort and understanding the writing section. If I were to reteach the lesson I would add pictures to the words on the word sort to help the students to read and understand the words. In addition, I would include a sentence strip for the assessment that the students could copy but then finish the sentence on their own. The writing prompt was too hard for the students, I received various answers some students copied the prompt only while other students understood it and wrote appropriate answers.
