Personal Narrative As I walk into Hazen and begin my high school journey I think to myself what I want to accomplish when I leave. Hazen is like the older sister I never had, someone who you hate occasionally, but look up to and pushes you to achieve your personal goals. As I walk through those Highlander doors I was immediately surrounded by the brightest minds, talent, and innovative bunch of my generation. Each one unique and each one having something special to offer, and I soon realized that I want to leave high school like I was never leaving. By making the most out of my high school experience I want to gain maturity and the satisfaction of knowing I made a difference in my school and community. By becoming a member of the National …show more content…
As a member of The Hazen drill team, Gordy’s Guides, and the volunteer leader of the Renton free lunch program I demonstrate impeccable skills in organization, time management, and leadership. I strive to inspire others to bring out their best characteristic and lead them to their fullest potential. As an older sister, I learned very quickly the importance of being a good role model and someone who is reliable, even if that mean staying up until 2:00 am with my little brother helping him with his science project that he choose to do last minute. There’s no greater joy than knowing that you made a difference in someone else's day. This imbued me to take charge in as many community services available, especially when working with children because I like to view it as helping the next future leaders. To make my high school experience worth wild, I have to have a good sense of character. I absolutely enjoy working with other people, not only are you building friendships but you also gained a new sense of knowledge you haven’t discovered. Throughout this year I have helped many of my peers achieved success in their classroom, by staying after school and even coming an hour early before finals to tutor and give my guidance on that
Throughout my time in ninth grade up to now, in eleventh grade, I have demonstrated myself as a prodigious character in New Hartford. Qualities such as, respect and responsibility are traits that have been engraved into who I am today. For instance, great respect towards those above me, who I can learn greatly from, such as teachers and bosses, and also for my peers and colleagues. Without a doubt, I recognize myself as kind individual in the community. I put those I strongly care
Over the past few years, I’ve grown more as an individual than I ever had before. When I first came to the Pulaski High School, a friend and I decided to join Leo Club. Joining Leo Club freshman year has been one of my greatest choices yet in life. Doing volunteer work not only helps out the community, it also shows me what's important in life. I’ve come to find that doing service for others that aren’t able to, need more help, or are just looking for a couple of young kids to help out at an event is what truly makes me the person I’ve always wanted to be.
Growing up as an only child I made out pretty well. You almost can’t help but be spoiled by your parents in some way. And I must admit that I enjoyed it; my own room, T.V., computer, stereo, all the material possessions that I had. But there was one event in my life that would change the way that I looked at these things and realized that you can’t take these things for granted and that’s not what life is about.
First of all, while a student at BGSU, I will demonstrate these values by dedicating a significant amount of my time to participating in community service. Personally, I believe that the first step in bettering oneself is bettering one’s environment, therefore it is imperative that I take care of my surroundings. Throughout high school, I have been involved in multiple extracurriculars that involve community service, such as Student Council and the National Honor Society. Through these programs, we clean up trash around the school, donate cans of food to the needy, and promote safety and respect among the students and staff of Lakewood High School. Knowing that the well-being of my school and peers depends on our dedication to the community is an indescribable feeling that I would ultimately love to carry to college with me through my servant leadership in the
Through NJHS and NHS, I have accumulated nearly 170 hours of community service. While working about every other weekend with my peers, I have learned how to be part of a successful team plus how to exercise patience and how deeply community service touches the hearts of those in our neighborhoods. Throughout the summers, I worked for over 180 hours as a volunteer IT assistant and gardener for various churches. During my time in a 15 person team while being the youngest and only female of the group, I regularly interacted with co-workers of different backgrounds and ages, learning to succinctly communicate with the world around us and how to embrace cultures aside from my own. Through the various clubs at Centennial, I have been able to encourage my fellow peers to honor those around us by using our abilities in music, writing, and language arts. I am passionate about using our talents to benefit others and am looking forward to spreading my mentality in
Service hours are extremely significant in order to gain necessary skills that will help an individual in the future. It is rather difficult to decide where to volunteer due to the various options on campus and within the community. I have chosen to do my service hours through College Mentors for Kids on campus at Ball State University. I have been involved with this organization for three semesters and I am hoping to expand my leadership role in the future. College Mentors for Kids connects college students with elementary students who need it the most. This organization creates a brighter future for young individuals and gives all students hope in life!
SWISH! I turn my head to the right with a grin and see my mom cheering as I scored my first points of the season. The last game of the season I scored my first points of my middle school basketball “career.” Now sit back and relax as you read the story of how I got my first points in middle school basketball.
During her time here at Danville Area High School, I have watched Genevieve grow from her experiences as she has enhanced her academic and community service leadership skills. Academically, she has committed herself to her coursework and throughout her time here, she has shown a distinct desire
“I want to let you know how thankful I am for your assistance, Sam.” Mr. Bushnell said, leading me into an elevator.
I open my eyes on a sandy beach, wet, damp and hurt. I slowly push myself off the ground and look around myself. The sun is hot and I am parched. The only thing I have with me is my backpack, which only has gum, crackers, books and my handheld video game. I look next to my brother on the sand, probably in the same boat as me. My name is Joseph Oscar and I am stranded.
These brought me the high ability of empathy for others because there were many chances to observe, feel and experience the hard times they felt. I developed my teamwork and leadership skills thanks to school Social Service Club. As a vice president, I organized campus events and activities for interacting with children in an orphanage. In a New Year party for homeless children planned by me, we as club members celebrated the New Year with them. I sold homemade cupcakes and pizza slices at school to raise money for the aid of various low-income schools in different cities of Turkey.
Since Summer school classes were at the morning, so I was able to get a summer job at the afternoon. Luckily I was accepted by the Summer Youth Employment Program, and eventually I was enrolled by a non- profit organization called “Light And Love Home”. I was passionate and excited to serve my community, my occupation was teacher’s assistant, and my job was teaching third grade children. That was one the best experiences I have ever had, those kids were very cute, compassionate and intelligent. They were enrolled in a summer camp program, all the kids here were capable of solving complicate math questions, and decent reading skills. The organization provides many extracurricular activities such as computer class, gym, art and craft. These courses was beneficial for children, because they were able to discovered their specialty and hobbies through these activities. Many children experienced success and become more confident, most importantly these kids become true friends through these daily activities. Excluded from those activities, “The Light And Love Home” hold charity, street fair and marathon race to fundraising money for senior service and to help build orphanages in Africa, This experience granted me a huge self- confidence boost, I became more active within the community, as time goes by, I become compassionate, diligent and determined, moreover I acquired stronger
Serving the community, later I realized, provides more than just being involved in the community; these opportunity taught me how to interact with variety of people. In Daycare, I might brag about how many pokemon cards I have, but in Bradley home, I talk about how a cone of ice cream does not cost 25 cents anymore(They are always fascinated about “modern- day life”).In Midstate, I act according to the patient’s needs and the level of their pain. Because I
I often find myself busy outside school. Sometimes I wonder if other people are to. I participate in many things. Also I enjoy hanging out with my friend. My days outside school are pretty entertaining and in my own way busy.
Taking that step towards high school, an important part in my life was Community Action for Teens. This organization has allowed me to collaboratively work with youths to develop leadership skills in order to produce a difference in our lives, families, schools and communities. As a group, we became advocates against challenging issues that concern people our age, especially alcohol and tobacco use. Together, we
