Forbidden Things: 1. This is a difficult one for me since I have always kept my nose fairly clean. My teenage years are about the only time I can remember breaking rules or crossing boundaries set by my Dad. I was 13 and had an enormous crush on an 18 year old from our church. Once my Dad and step-mother became more aware of my and Damon's relationship we were forbid to see each other. We were at a youth group meeting in a huge hotel and had planned to hide in the stairwell for a little privacy. So we climbed all the way up to the top only to find a big nasty pile of human poop! Talk about a buzz kill. I was at one of my favorite places in the whole world. Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is home to over 200 big cat species and all my life
Zig-zag, back and forth, down, down, down, Jonathon, Dad, and I went into a mysterious new world. Now that I have gone into this hot, dry canyon surrounded by monstrous hoodoos, I have seen what it is really like to leave the small town of Seymour, and emerge into the greatness of this world. I have now seen several other National Parks on one of the most renowned places on earth for mysterious creations, the Colorado Plateau. Of all the beautiful places on it, even the Grand Canyon, I have found my favorite one. Bryce Canyon National Park. I thought it was amazing, because it was the most diverse to anything I have ever seen before. We hiked down into it and I felt like I was surrounded by skyscrapers. We trekked around a little, but we didn’t
I rushed out to the truck as the horn blared. I threw my things into the truck and we went off towards the woods. I had to talk to Kevin about where the deer come from when i am sitting in the stand. He told me everything I needed to know about the place less than 10 minutes in the hot and humid truck. Well let's go back to see what led to this.
brother, but he was only doing what he parents told him to do, he didn¹t
Years ago my family took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I chose this common experience for this memory assignment. First, I made a list of all the things I remembered from my trip at Yellowstone. I remembered we traveled in our motorhome and got halfway to our destination and parked on the side of the road and slept there for the night. I remember seeing the famous geyser; Old Faithful, in addition to seeing lots of bison, and bears. I recall one night that we stayed in a campground bears were in the campground and we were being told to stay in our campers. I also remember during the trip my dad would give me all the spare change and I would collect it. I saved the change up to buy souvenirs or candy. I also remember going to a shirt
The Grand Canyon, it’s truly is grand. The animals, the plant life, and the canyon’s history is something my father and I have been interested in for a long time. My dad, Erik, shows me plant specimens and fossils of animals i’ve never seen before. He once told me there was a type of vulture that are so close to extinction there are only 20 left alive in the world. We visited Arizona to see the Grand Canyon once dad got enough money to go on a roadtrip. I’m so excited to see my friends there, too. I brought so much snacks, maybe too much, and my backpack is kind of heavy for the hiking trip, but I’ll live through it.
On the first day of 6th grade I saw this one person in my class and I thought that he was one of those fancy rich people that think that everything revolves around themselves. As the year went on I started to figure out that he was not like that I started to figure out that he was really nice and really funny. Then I figure out what his name was. His name was Luke and threw one of my other friends knew him then me and Luke started to be friends and I had originally thought that he was one of those stuck up rich people.
“Where are you from?” The question for me, has always been conflicting. You would ask my mom and dad the question and they would not hesitate for a second before letting “Beledweyne,” or “Somalia.” fall from their mouths. All my other siblings who were born in America would probably answer the question with “Mankato,” or “Eagle Lake,” maybe even “Minnesota.” and not put any thought into it. I however have put plenty of thought into in. Maybe too much thought.
from the highest level of the upper world to the lowest level of the underworld.
on October 11th i went on a hunt that would change my hunting experience. I walked to my stand with my dad and we saw some fresh tracks. we had some bait out and then we went to the stand the bait was gone we got up in the stand and got ready.we got up in the stand and brought the gun up and got settled in.
In hiking, as in life, there are choices between success and pain, pride and safety; this is the story of one such choice. Last summer I participated in the Rayado program at Philmont Scout Ranch. The eighth day of the trek was my crew’s greatest challenge: Super Black Death, a hike of seven peaks in one day.
It was like living a dream. He took me out to dinner, met my parents –
The Grand Tetons are mountain ranges of pure beauty. When my family and I visited back in June of 2015, we didn’t want to leave; we still don’t want to. While on our trip, we stayed in a Dude Ranch overlooking the Teton Mountains. Everything was equally breathtaking, no matter how many times we saw it; the sunrises, sunsets, clouds swirling above the mountain peaks, just about everything presented nature’s true beauty to us. Even on cloudy days, the mysterious flow of the foggy clouds covering portions of each mountain was something unforgettable. Nothing really could prevent the mountains from revealing their natural beauty, especially not climate; in fact, climate is what presents the beauty even more. Knowing that all of the nature around us was being preserved made our trip the experience of a lifetime. The Teton National Park park is fantastically beautiful. The whole Teton vibe exhibits something that no other could top.
Ever since I was a ten year old little girl, I have always had a sincere love for hunting. The reward of providing food for my family is one like any other, but the reason I love hunting is because of my Dad. I always looked forward to sitting with Dad early in the morning and enjoying wildlife together. It is the times I cherish the most with my Dad and I am very thankful hunting has given me the opportunity to create memories which I will always remember.
I was in my final year at high-school. I was only seventeen and the pressure of knowing that the outcome of school results would determine my whole life ahead finally got to me. I snapped. One day, in the absence of my parents, I ran away from home, hoping never to return.
Going up the mountain in the lift with the mountains leering over you like a huge dragon ready to pounce and the tiny houses below getting smaller and smaller as they disappear, passing through fluffy white cotton wool like clouds you must remember to hold on tight as the lift comes to a sudden abrupt jolt just before it reaches its destination at nearly the top of the mountain.
