That’s so Gay What a perfect day. With no stress or responsibilities my best friend and I drove around the lake and enjoyed the warmth of the hot summer sun. The radio blasts the best summer hits while my best friend and I sang every note. Just like a scene in a teenage movie, the wind blow through our hair as we sped into the weekend. Blue skies filled the background of the camera shot with a rainbow that contributed bright colors and beauty. Having a best friend means loving, accepting, and supporting each other no matter what. Whether I have a blue look on my face or fail to see the pros of any bad situation, my best friend has always been my daily ray of sunshine. She never fails to see the good in everyone and never makes me feel out of place. Everything was going well that day in the car, until in one in our conversation I used the phrase “That’s so gay.” …show more content…
“That’s so gay” is normally used to indicate something is strange or uncommon. I never thought much about the phrase I used until that day. After I said it, her face lost all color. The picture perfect background was destroyed with my use of three words. The warmth of the sun vanished while the vibrant colors of the rainbow died. The blasting music became faded background noise. I could not comprehend why she was offended. I did not insult her or anyone in anyway. It is just a phrase people use daily. At least, that is what I
To me, being a good friend is staying by their side, even if they do something you do not like. Also, a good friend would back you up and do whatever they can get others to see you for who you really are, not just for that one bad thing you might have done. Though some may argue that in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George was being a good friend to Lennie by making his death as painless as possible, but it is proven that he in fact was not being a good friend to Lennie when George kills him because Lennie is his best friend and being all he has, George is going to now suffer that loss and Lennie did not kill her because he was trying to be mean it was just a bad accident.
It was a Saturday afternoon, and I was at golf practice. It was a gorgeous day. The sun was out, there was just a slight breeze, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. No one could have asked for a better day.
I was in the car with my best friend Hannah with her sitting passenger and I was in the driver’s seat. We were talking and laughing, having a great time without a care in the world. My stereo was on and playing was my favorite CD: Blurryface by Twenty One Pilots. We were on our way to a friend’s house and couldn’t wait to get there. The traffic started to slow us down but we didn’t let that damper our mood.
When growing up with diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorder and depression, my gender identity was the least of my problems for a long time.
My sexual orientation is not a fact about myself that I openly discuss. I live in an immensely conservative town, which creates an intimidating environment. Even some of my friends and family members disapprove of or feel uncomfortable discussing non-heteronormative sexual orientations.
There are a lot of synonyms for the word best friend. Some of the many include soulmate, companion, ride-or-die, sister/brother, husband/wife, and that does not even begin to cover it. The term is so broad with a vague definition, but has a strong meaning to almost everyone. Most people that are asked have someone they consider to be their best friend in some form, either a friend or a spouse. Often times these two people have gone through so much with each other, the good and the bad. These people are so important to everyday life because they help to reach important needs, they help people to discover themselves, and they help to maintain healthy aging.
For the past two years the Gay Straight Alliance has organized positivity weeks, we wanted to promote kindness and positivity at our high school. One of the activities we held throughout the week was students wrote encouraging notes to their peers and teachers. When someone got a note their day attitude completely changed and they were more inclined to send a note themselves. The message sending only lasted a week but it had an amazing impact on the climate at our school.
On the Monday October 27th, 2014, for the first time in 4 years I did not wake up at 5:30 in the morning, I was not putting on a green skivvy shirt and shorts. There was no formation, no one that was higher command I had to report to, telling me where I had to go, what time I had to eat breakfast, what was I doing this day or what our platoon plans were for the day. There were no PT (physical training) I had to do this morning. Instead, I woke up grab a regular t-shirt, khaki shorts, and my two sea bags full of clothing and gear that I collected during my time in the Marine Corps. I threw everything in my vehicle and drove from Camp Pendleton, California to Quincy, Illinois. Within two weeks I was accepted to Southern Illinois University Carbondale. For three days, I stayed at the
In my subjective opinion, I believe that I had a decent family, through my youthful years I held onto a certain theory of mines which involve a belief that I was a product of agency and that my choices, values, principles, and beliefs were things that I had cumulated and absorbed through my own volition. In which social interactions and media had no effect on me or my family’s daily routines and actions. The reason why I was fixated on this theory of because my mother once proclaimed to me and my sisters that “people can change who you are.” She did not give much explanation on her claim, but I wanted to decipher her riddle and thus, I decided in high school I would study the arts of sociology, at first the purpose was to prove that my beliefs, but now that I am in college I am unsure whether my theory is valid. In this essay I

The perfect day will be exactly 73 degrees, with no clouds, and a beautiful blue sky. There will be a light breeze to make the grass and flowers slightly sway, and the sun will shine bright all day. The perfect day will be spent with friends at your side who you can make jokes with and laugh all day long. The perfect day will be spent with friends that will lift you up when you are down and who you can trust with your darkest secrets. The perfect day will be spent outside with your friends.
Your best friends, unlike your social circle, will not only be complimentary, but will always give you honest feedback. Best friends are in contact with each other every day and both work toward their friendship goals to allow it to continue down a healthy path of friendship. When something serious happens in your life, your best friend will sympathize and empathize with you, and then help you figure out how to fix it and move on. Best friends will give you advice when you really need it and are honest about their opinions. Loyalty, honesty, and commitment are the top priorities of a growing best friendship. Friends in your social circle can not keep secrets from others, but you can confide in your best friends about anything and they know everything about your life: the good, the bad, and the
Everyone needs a best friend in her lifetime. She needs somebody that she can trust and go to with her problems. A best friend should be there for you all the time, no matter what the situation may be. In my case, I have known my best friend for my entire life. My best friend happens to be my younger sister, Brittany. She is only thirteen months younger than I am, so we are very close. Having Brittany as my best friend has made me into the person I am today. She has taught me how to trust people, how to resolve my problems, and how to open up and express my feelings.
Good friends are wonderful. They're there to support you and to help you. They make you laugh and feel good. I'm lucky, I have three very good friends. Sure, I have lots of other friends. But these three people, I would take a bullet for.
A best friend does not back away from you when you think you’ve lost it. Those are the times that a best friend is always there for. A best friend is someone with whom you’ve shared your most intimate secrets with, and laughed the loudest. She probably knows you better than anyone you can think of, definitely better than your parents, and sometimes better than you know yourself. She has seen you at your worst, and helped you be your best. A best friend is not afraid to tell you the truth. A lot of research has been done looking into the benefits of friendship, and the research has found exactly what you might expect. It turns out that the better quality relationships you have; the more likely you are to be happy. Therefore it’s good for your
