I have always wanted to go to New York and to see the White House. In movies the White House has always looked so cool to me. I have wanted to go to Times Square since I was a little girl. My junior high school, MCS, had class trips for the seventh and eighth grades. I am not sure if they still do them, but in seventh grade we went to Springfield, IL and in eighth grade we went to Washington D.C and New York City. There was a lot of fundraising we had to do in order to get some help with paying for the trip. Most all of us that went rode in Charter busses, but there were a couple kids and parents that flew on a plane. The drive was super long, it was about 13-14 hours long. For the ones that rode on the bus, we had to be at the school …show more content…

We went to either ll or almost all of the war memorials. They had concrete walls that had all the names of the veterans that died at war at the memorials. It was awesome and very sa at the same time. We went to the Arlington National Cemetery and watched them do the switching of the guards. We did go to the White House and got to go inside. They didn’t take us through a lot of the rooms, but they did take us through some. The rooms we got to see were the State Dining Room, the Red, Green, and Blue Rooms, and the East Garden Room. We also got to go to the U.S Capitol building and got to go inside and see the U.S Congress room. It was a huge congress room, it is so much bigger when you see it in person than in movies or on TV. We also got to go to the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington …show more content…

When we got to New York City one of the guys on the bus started playing the song New York by Alicia Keys over and over again, so now whenever I hear it, it reminds me of our trip. When we got there and got all settled into our hotel, I think the first thing we did was go to ground zero. It was super cool, they had like two huge squares that were deep into the ground and had water in them and the sides had water flowing into the pool things in the middle. Around it they had the names of everyone who died during the 9/11 attack. We went to Times Square and that is where we got our group picture taken. We also went to Chinatown and Central Park to walk around. We took a ferry to the Statue of Liberty but we weren’t able to get off and go in it so we went to Ellis Island instead. We got to see Wicked on Broadway, it was so cool. A lot better than the Fox. We went to the 30 Rockefeller Center and go to see where they film Saturday Night Live, it is a huge building that the studio is in. We also got to go on the Empire State Building. It was so cool because once you got to the top and went outside you could see the whole city. It was also super winding on it though i guess because it is so high up. One night we got to go on a dinner boat ride. New York was super fun, but we only go to stay for a day and a half. New York City and Washington D.C was so fun. I would love to go back to NYC and stay for a longer
