My heart was filled with so much joy as the day approached for us to head to Miami, Florida for our annual family reunion. We all got up around 4:00 a.m. that night to head out. Many of my family from all over Georgia planned to trail behind one another to enjoy the journey. Some from Thomasville, some from Cairo and some from Atlanta. Everyone was so overjoyed, you could tell by the smiles on their faces and the laughs they let out. As we traveled the bright and bumpy roads I watched all of the pretty palm trees, which is how I know we were getting close. Florida was full of palm trees and everyone that knows Florida know that everywhere in Florida is filled with palm trees. We traveled through so many different, beautiful cities. We traveled through Naples, West …show more content…
Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
This is why I always looked forward to going to Florida, I enjoyed it. The only thing I hated was being so bunched up in that hot truck and being crumbled up for 8 hours straight with 5 other people and enough luggage for 10 people. Everyone acted like they were going to stay for months, which I think everyone wished they could. My grandpa always drove us there, he was a great driver, being that he drove semi-trucks all his life. Sometimes he would get a bit of road rage and scare us all and he would always say “I got this”. We all were ready to get there, it was all about just having a great time. As we arrived I got more and more excited like a little kid on Christmas. Everyone was so anxious to jump out the truck to get some fresh air that no one notice that we had to unload all that luggage. The warm summer air ran across me so swiftly and the sound of the cars in traffic on the street next to us was like music to my ears. The sound of the beach and the waves and seagulls ring through my ears. I loved the sound of the big city. We stood and waited
for all of the other family to get out of their vehicles, everyone hopped out stretching with a sigh of relief. We headed to the entry of the hotel lobby and as I looked around I saw so many familiar faces from all the years before and people I was waiting to see. Suddenly, I felt a great big hug from behind. It was one of my aunts from West Palm Beach, I knew from the smell of her old perfume and loud cigarettes. “Hey my favorite little niece, I missed you”. She kissed all over me like she had not seen me in years and the scent from her ruby red lipstick stuck to my cheek, I hated it. “Hey auntie” I grunted through my teeth. We all walked in the hotel together and all I could smell was the original scent of fresh pool water and chlorine. The dinging of the elevators going from floor to floor excited me. The marble granite countertop was filled with receptionist and most of my tired family trying to get to their rooms and rest before the first event. Many of the little kids ran around, shoes clapping the floor and little laughs echoing around the hotel lobby. It was like a big traffic jam in this place. So many people filled the lobby, from people trying to get to the pool, to the inside bar and trying to make way to the little path that led to the beach. I loved that we always stay at a beachfront hotel because we could just go out there whenever we wanted to, I mean who doesn’t love the beach. As soon as we all got to the room everyone rushed and pushed each other out of the way to get to the bed, no one wanted to get on the floor. Everyone was so tired and worn out from the long ride so everyone was kind of sleepy. The first family event did not start until night fall so we all had plenty of time to rest. I laid down for a minute but I couldn’t sleep so I got up and walked on the balcony. I gazed upon the sunlight beaming on the beach and watched as everyone walked and play in the sand and water. The breeze was so cool and felt wonderful. I was so paranoid because I was afraid of heights, so I did not get anywhere near the edge. I heard the balcony door slide open; it was my cousin coming out to sit with me. We sat and talked about everything and how beautiful it was outside. Hours passed and everyone was up trying to get ready all at once. It was like rush hour in the bathroom. The event started at 7 but you know no one is ever on time. I had on my little t-strap shirt and shorts, I was so beyond myself. Me and my favorite cousin were dressed alike, everyone would say we “thought we were all that” but we didn’t. We just always stayed to ourselves a lot. Everyone was down in the lobby waiting on the others to come down so we could head to the venue. We all looked so nice and clean and everyone looked as if they had gotten plenty of rest. When we arrived at the venue you could hear the music coming from inside the building, and lots of people were walking in and out. We headed in and it was so beautiful, the colors were like a garnet and gold type patter. The chandeliers hung over each decorated table and big vases with flowers sat in the middle of each table. Even the DJ booth was decorated nice. Everyone sat down as one of my well known family members that planned this event talked loud into the microphone. “Hey everybody” she screamed. “Welcome to the Davis Family Reunion”. Everyone smiled and waved back with joy. Everyone got up and danced and ate the good food. We had chicken, greens, potato salad, ham, and a lot more. Saturday came and it was a repeat everyone enjoyed themselves so much. We ate well like that Friday and Saturday night. Time was winding as everyone was getting tired and loading up to head back to the hotel after the Saturday night event. Me and some of my others cousins had decided we would go to the pool when we got back since we were leaving early. As the night went by and we enjoyed the pool, Sunday morning came so fast. Everyone was loading up there vehicles with their luggage and was saying their goodbyes. This is what family reunions are all about having fun and enjoying yourself.
What comes to mind when you hear the word adventure!!? Well there is a place in Florida that is guaranteed to bring out your inner kid every time you visit. This place is known as universal Orlando Florida. This is a place where you can go on vacation and have fun like never before as you did when you were a kid. On my visit to Orlando I stated at a four-star resort located inside the theme park known as Cabana Bay Beach Resort, also went to universal studios and islands of adventure were I felt like I was a kid again.
The longest I’ve ever lived in one place was the nine years that my family and I lived in
When we got out there we were all very impressed by the appearance of the city. This was obviously a tourist town. When we found the hotel we were impressed by the huge glass windows and cedar siding. It looked more like the Hilton than a Best Western. We checked in and were shown to our rooms. After bringing in all of our things, we went straight to bed knowing that we had a huge day ahead of us, not knowing how huge it was really going to be.
When we left the hotel, my parents had a tough time finding the theme park. There were so many overpasses and lanes, my dad missed the exit a few times. Luckily, my dad finally got off at the right exit. When we first arrived, I was so excited. I had never seen so many seen so many people in one place, and the climate was very different compared to El Paso. I remember listening to the roars of the roller coasters and the screams of the people on them. We finally got into the park. As we entered, I remember it being very humid and moist. There were so many different smells coming from the restaurants.
As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait
When the day came to leave I was woken at the crack of dawn. I was keen to get to Blackpool as swiftly as possible, not only for the football that was ahead of us but also for the famous Pleasure Beach. The coach picked us up at around 8 am and in we crammed into an already full coach. The journey down was full of laughter and friendly joking from the parents. That day, it was particularly hot and inside the coach a number of people were becoming uncomfortable. I was unaffected by the warmth inside the coach, with my earphones in I relaxed and paid more attention to the vast countryside we were passing through. The vivid scenery blew me away, with colossal hills to calm rivers that we met on the journey.
My name is Kelsey and I am 22 years old. I live in the Florida panhandle and have been going to Walt Disney World since I was six years old. I was raised into a family that is incredibly loyal to the Disney brand; we still try and go as a family at least once a year. Now that I am engaged, my fiancé and I have started our own annual tradition, and will hopefully be married there.
I can hear the hum of taxi cabs whizzing past me as I stand on the corner of the busy downtown street. New York City! I still can't believe that I'm here or that I'm staying here. Aunt Allison was so sweet to let me live in her place whilst she travels around south America. I step out onto the road when the traffic light changed from green to red.
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
The weather that day wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It was gloomy and it would drizzle once in a while. I enjoyed the drive up to LA, even with a little rain. It took us about an hour and 50mins. We left around 1:00 pm and arrived around 2:50pm. The good thing about the drive was that we didn’t get lost. The only bad part was the traffic. We both expected to get traffic but not as bad.
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
The place where I would like to call me second home is located all the way down in Savanna Georgia. I can remember way back about nine years ago in the summer of 2008. The plane ride was a long and hot, and I spent the whole ride playing on my PSP. When I got off the plane I remembered walking through the freezing cold Savanna International Airport seeing all the flags of different countries hanging from the ceiling, but then taking one step out of the airport front doors looking for the car services that was rented and feeling the crushing 100°F heat and deathly humidity. But it is all worth the painful heat to spend time in the beautiful city.
The flight was long. As I looked out of the window, it was wondrous and disconcerting to see the ocean in every direction- no land in sight. The sun shone bright and high in the sky when the plane landed. The ocean was a brilliant blue and the palm trees swayed in a wind that smelled like flowers. It was kind of humid
This area of the world is so foreign to my Oklahoma life; it infuses me with awe, and with an eerie feeling of being strongly enclosed by huge mountains, and the mass of tall trees. However, when my foot first steps onto the dusty trail it feels crazily magical. The clean, crisp air, the new smell of evergreen trees and freshly fallen rain is mixed with fragrances I can only guess at. It is like the world has just taken a steroid of enchantment! I take it all in, and embrace this new place before it leaves like a dream and reality robs the moment. As I turn and look at my family, I was caught by my reflection in their impressions. The hair raising mischief in the car was forgotten and now it was time to be caught up in this newness of life. It was as if the whole world around us had changed and everyone was ready to engulf themselves in it. The trickling of water somewhere in the distance and the faint noise of animals all brought the mountains to
Towards the end of 1989, my family and I were on vacation in Fort Myers, Florida. We drove from Trenton, New Jersey all the way to Florida where my grandfather lived. It was a long trip to undergo, especially being six years old and knowing that my father never stopped the car. By the time we arrived at Fort Myers, it was a beautiful sunny day. The wind was gusting enough to pull my hair back, and I was admiring the palm trees, coconuts, and lizards near the Gulf of Mexico. The first few days were nice, but little did I know that I would soon be caught in the middle of a twister.
