Christmas morning had brought a wonderful suprise; we were going to go to Hawaii! My siblings and I were so excited and eagerly counted down the days. As the day arrived and we went to the airport, everything seemed like a dream. Leaving the cold weather of Utah behind, we boarded the plane. The stewards and stewardesses were wearing laies and the other people on the plane seemed just as happy to be getting away. The flight was long. As I looked out of the window, it was wondrous and disconcerting to see the ocean in every direction- no land in sight. The sun shone bright and high in the sky when the plane landed. The ocean was a brilliant blue and the palm trees swayed in a wind that smelled like flowers. It was kind of humid but I was too busy soaking up that wonderful moment. The house …show more content…
Soon enough, the day arrived and we had to leave. Our flight wasn’t until that night so we spent the day in Honolulu. We spent more time at the beach and we got to see the ‘Iolani Palace. We had worn tons of sunscreen but the sun still managed to tan us. The flight home didn’t go well at all. There were many sick passengers on the plane and it’s hard to fall asleep on a plane.
Arriving back in Utah made me realize just how much I had missed being home. I had missed the mountains-their presence is reassuring. I had even missed the snow. It seemed like we had never left. I know now that I can fall in love with other places around the world but my home in Utah will always hold the biggest place in my heart. There is something about calling it my home that makes it different from any other place that I have traveled to.
One day I may go back to Hawaii and rekindle the love that I have for the island, but for now I am happy and in love with the landscape of Utah. There are beautiful sunsets and sunrises here too. Utah -though so different when compared to Hawaii- has become a land of paradise for me too; even if it’s in the
As you can see I did grow up in paradise. Although, I think I have shown that Hawaii is more than just a travel destination. It is a whole other world in and of itself. The spirit of the islands and the people are something that can’t be experienced anywhere else; the same can be said for the array of assorted cultural cuisine brought from around the globe. Food is the glue that keeps everyone in harmony. I am proud to say that I came from a land I love so much and would fight to keep safe as long as I live. The person I am today has been shaped by the rich Hawaiian heritage found only on the islands; everyone should experience it at least once in their life.
When I stepped out of the hot, airless plane into the bright, dazzling sunlight beaming down across the burning concreate, I felt excited and nervous. Holding my beach bag in my hand and slipping my Ray Ban sunglasses on with my other, I flip-flopped down the airspace. Overhead I heard the screams of gulls and the chatter of the small fluffy birds. I suddenly realized I had arrived to Hawaii. This trip was such an unforgettable vacation for me because I got to witness the beauty of nature that Hawaii has to offer.
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
As my family and I walked into the plane, we were excited. The plane ride to jamaica stopped in L.A. and, after that, it went to jamaica. When we arrived in Jamaica it was really hot, but it was wet. I immediately took off my sweater I was wearing on the plane. We took a bus to our hotel. Then we started swimming in the water park. Every night there was a show in the main stage. The next day we woke up early to go to chukka. It was awesome. We saw a great house, rode on horses, and did a challenge course. After we came back from Chukka, we went to the water park and swimming pool at the hotel. Then we ate at fresh, which we went most of the time. The next day we woke up earlier to go to the dolphin cove. The bus was an hour late, but the wait
Imagine your first home. The place where you lived right after you were born. Where you took
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
The first thing I heard was Virginia Beach vacation, and then in excitement I ran and got my stuff and started to pack. The part I was most excited about was that the hotel is a beachfront hotel room.I was so excited because I love the beach and I really wanted to go back to the beachfront hotel and stay there. I went there when I was in second grade. I have gotten to go there a few times since second grade, but I did not get to stay there overnight.
Hawai'i is a land full of diverse people and ideas, starting from the Polynesians who decided to cross the ocean to settle and form the traditions practiced today by the Hawaiians. Unlike many other states, the beliefs of Hawai'i have managed to stay alive. Its unique culture is what attracts tourists most. Many people see it as a vacation spot, full of fun attractions and say, “When I go to Hawai'i I'm going to get some Hawaiian tattoos, they look so cool!” or “I'm going to buy a hula skirt, they're really pretty!” But all those hula dances and tattoos are not just for show. People do not know that there is more to it than ink or hip swaying; behind every hula skirt and every tattoo there is a story. Hawai’i’s culture consists of the significance of its dances, tattoos, and traditions that give Hawaiians their unique lifestyle.
A month went by of us packing, getting ready, and us counting down the days until we left for Florida and then Puerto Rico. The day came that we were leaving for Florida. We were in the car for 5 hours. We finally got to the hotel and we went to dinner. After that, we went to the pool and then we went to our rooms and went to sleep.
“In the camps. . . . I had the opportunity to study the human race from the cradle to the grave, and to see what happens to people when reduced to one status and one condition. Cameras and photographs were not permitted in the camps, so I recorded everything in sketches, drawings, and paintings.” Mine Okubo (22). From my birth on June 27, 1912 to December 6, 1941 I was just a regular American citizen just like anybody else. However on December 7, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I was seen as a terrorist spy, an unloyal american, and an all around untrustworthy person all because of the country my ancestors comes from and my distinct asian features. From then on I would be lose my name and only be known as a number. Just

The flight to London felt like it took forever, we were all so tired and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed, but we had to get off that plane and get on another going to Scotland. When we finally landed in Scotland, I couldn’t believe I was actually in a foreign country, I was so excited. The first thing I did when we landed in Scotland was to look through the window, of course what I saw were other airplanes and men running around getting luggage and showing planes to the terminal. After we got all of our luggage and the rental car, we walked outside, as I looked around, I could see so much green in the distance; so many different colors of green. I had never seen so much beauty in one place.
Throughout someone’s life they will go to many places with their family, friends, another relatives. I have been on a few vacations that have made a lasting impact on my life. But one of the most memorable vacations I have experienced was with my cousins. I went to goa beach. Most of you probably don’t know about that beach but it is a very famous one in south India. I enjoyed myself to the fullest. The beach environment was enlightening. I would not have wanted to take this trip with anyone other than my cousins. We had a great time on the ocean sands and swimming in the ocean everyday made this vacation unforgettable.
