Personal Narrative: My Transition Into Adulthood

I do not believe anyone's transition into adulthood is enjoyable or smooth, losing your ignorance and being made aware of real world problems isn't exactly what you wish for. The event that marked my transition into adulthood is certainly nothing I would wish on anyone, but if I had not experienced this, I wouldn't have become someone who learned to take responsibility, and find reasonable solutions to seemingly impossible tasks. My parents were separated and then divorced when I was young. My mom was always stressed out with the workload that she took on, so there really no surprise to the way she reacted when something tragic happened. We played the most outrageously embarrassing games and yet they brought us closer together, every week I would get more and more excited for monday night so I could spend time with those people who brought a light back into my life. By making a better conn I have never felt more welcome and loved in my entire life, the energy in that room from all these people was incredible.This was the day I began my transition into adulthood, I made a commitment to this community, to God. I turned my life around, I started working harder in school, I matured, and had a positive outlook on my situation. Because of young life I learned how to take control of my life and turn it around even if my mom wouldn’t be there to help, I had to learn to be more responsible and do things on my own. If it wasn’t for Young Life I would’ve been a child lost and no intention of finding a positive way of life. I would be selfish, not selfless. Young Life put me back in the right direction, it helped me become more responsible. It gave me a place to go and people to be with when I was feeling depressed or just needed to escape, it was a second home to me. They were, and will always be, like a family to me.
