I have had many significant moments in my life that make me who I am, but there is one that stands out to me the most. This was the moment I truly felt what pure hope really was.
People look up hope and know what it is based on definition or by hoping to get good grades but they don’t know the true feeling. Last year during basketball season I got very ill. I would show up to practices and games with fevers of 105 degrees and still play. I got worse as days went forward and my parents knew it wasn’t just any virus that someone could get, it was worse.
My doctors kept pushing me off to the side and treating me as if I had nothing wrong even though I had deadly fevers, I was losing weight, I had diarrhea 11 times a day, and the fact that I

I am fighting because I am not going to let some disease take over my life. I want to be an amazing person and that is what I am going to be.
I learned many things through this rough journey I’m on. I learned that this disease has its pluses and its minuses but it can’t stop me from doing the things I love because I have enough desire to become who I want to be. I realized how to look at the bright side of life and to overlook all the scary moments life is giving me and to have true courage and strength. I learned how to persevere through times that weren’t so good and to make those times into precious moments where I truly felt love from my family deep in my heart. I chose to fight because I was not going to let some disease take over my life and define me. I want to be known as someone great and who makes an impact on the world. I have my whole life ahead of me and huge dreams to follow, nothing will stop me. Who knew one moment of hope would give me the power to fight against my sickness and because of it, inspire me to keep fighting and keep my dreams alive to this
