Loud hallways, crowded lunches, and full classrooms. When I started high school at Spartanburg High School. It was very scary. At first it was hard trying to find my classes, but I got the hang of it the second day.My experience during my ninth grade year was fun. Some days I had an awesome day, and other days was very stormy. I have learned a lot of differences about the transition. Although I thought the transition from middle school to high school would be easy, but to me it was not easy at all. If I could warn upcoming eighth graders about life at Spartanburg High School, I would warn them about friendships and requirements, such as being on time to class and academics. At the beginning, I thought my friendship with my best friend Jamaree …show more content…
Finally, their are requirements at Spartanburg High School such as behavior and academics. My ninth grade year I was always late to may second period class.I could never figure out why I was always late, because I was taking the same route as my classmates. So,every time I was late to my second period class.I got a referral.Every time I got a referral,is when I started getting detention like every week.I am warning upcoming eighth graders to be on time to class in high school, because detention is not fun at all.So this year my tenth grade year I've learned to be on time.At Spartanburg High School when it comes down to your grades. All the teachers want the best.I recommend upcoming eighth graders to never slack, because its hard to bring a zero out the grade book.I have experienced hardships in some of my classes.Sometimes I never studied for a test, and I failed. As I got use to being in the ninth grade.I started using different methods of studying. The best thing that worked for me is to have flashcards, because it seems to me that is the only way I could remember things. Also, this year my tenth grade year. One of my teachers taught me how to write down dummy notes.Dummy notes are very useful to me,because if the teacher say something is important. Then you write a dummy note on the side of your paper.I have learned that your grades are important.I always keep a good GPA.A good GPA will let me go to the college or university I want to go.I plan on going to school, after I graduate to
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
It's quite difficult transitioning from being the biggest to back to being the smallest. In eighth grade, you've finally become comfortable with your peers, the school, and even the teachers, and it's gone in a matter of a couple months. My perception of high school was extremely terrifying because it was an academy where I didn't really know anyone because it was slightly far. It seems so easy when you already know someone at the school because they can help guide you around, but to a zoning that's a twenty minute distance it's difficult. I expected the least, honestly. I knew that the halls would be packed, getting to classes would be confusing, and teachers would continuously give homework, but no one said it would be so much more. Moving
This is the most important part of school. This is where grades matter most. This is where colleges start looking at people. Colleges are looking for people that are willing to do what it takes to be able to attend their colleges. High school is a little bit tougher and is where there is a lot of illegal drugs. High school ends on a graduation when twelfth grade is completed and the twelfth graders are going off to college. Then college comes. This is where it gets tough. People have to have their own schedules and know what their doing because they are now on their own. Classes are harder than you have ever imagined. You are put to the test of if you are ready to go on in life. Prepare for
Let’s flash back in time to before our college days. Back to then we had lunch trays filled with rubbery chicken nuggets, stale pizza, and bags of chocolate milk. A backpack stacked with Lisa Frank note books, flexi rulers, and color changing pencils. The times where we thought we wouldn’t make it out alive, but we did. Through all the trials and tribulations school helped build who I am today and shaped my future. From basic functions all the way to life-long lessons that helped shape my character.
"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." -Malcolm X. High school is a very stressful time in your life if you are planning on going to college then it is very important for you to take the next four years of your life very serious. The first year of high school is very important but also one of the easiest years of high school but if you don't take this year serious then it will affect GPA and it will be on your transcript. It is important to take this into consideration considering colleges will look at your transcript.
As underclassmen you come into high school either thinking that the next four years of your schooling will be really easy or really stressful. To tell the truth it can be both, weather you come into high school with a positive or negative attitude. High school is the last place you can get away with some mistakes and try again. The next four years will test your skills and responsibilities. You can learn a lot about yourself in high school, from how you use your time in school to your after school activities you do. What you do from a freshman to a senior will determine what you want and can do for future careers. High school will challenge you in many ways from organization skills to time management skills.
High school is every kid’s dream: less rules, more freedom, more fun. That wasn’t necessarily how it happened for me. In fact, so far my freshman year has been the worst year of my life. It started out alright. It was like a fresh start. I stopped self harming. I started eating more. Actually, I started eating a lot more, bring me to my third and final eating disorder. Binge eating. I gained weight my freshman year. This entire school year, I did not participate in one sport.
An important marker of the teenage world is highschool. In highschool the school work is increased as well as responsibilities elsewhere. It can become incredibly overwhelming, especially now with the pressure of college around the corner. Each year of highschool comes with new challenges. Freshman year is one of the most notable because it is the first year in a new place.
Something that is similar to high school in college is homework. In college, we are given homework every day, but we are given have two days to work on the homework that we have. The homework can be extensive but it is most of the work that we do for the class that is graded. Being able to choose classes in college is a huge difference, however. When I first started signing up for classes for this semester I had a more extensive selection to choose from. College classes focus more on the student 's future career and give more options in classes. Even though the classes are longer, we have more free time outside of school. In college, you are treated like an adult and are given more freedom. For instance, if you haven 't turned in an assignment the teacher isn 't going to keep asking you about it and giving you chances to turn it in. If you don 't have the assignment by the time that you should then it becomes a zero in the system. With so much free time the teachers just have to trust that you will get your work done. But freedom is also a good thing because being able to go home and unwind is important. For me having free time is important because I like having time to myself and relaxing. With freedom comes responsibility, and if you can 't handle the responsibility then you will
You have to go into a new atmosphere with many new people and rules. It can be hard to figure out where you fit in and belong. This has stayed mostly the same for past and present. High school has always been a new atmosphere and experience. When my dad was in high school he loved to play sports with his friends, go to school dances, and hang out with friends. There were no football teams at my dad’s high school because it wasn’t a big enough high school, so in the fall you watched soccer, field hockey, and track. My dad ran cross country in the Fall, played basketball in the Winter, and played baseball in the Spring. His school was surrounded by athletics fields much like any other high school past and present. School dances had music, dancing, and each one had a different theme. They were locally decorated by the students based on the theme of that particular dance. At lunch, he sat with all his friends. The lunches were typical and always had the same meals. There were no snacks that you could buy, just what was being served for
Social interactions are scary because freshmen are plunged into an environment with new people. Going into high school, some people's biggest fear is not knowing anyone. Everyone is new to each other, and that creates awkwardness that lingers in every person's head. While they are in classes with complete strangers, some might have trouble fitting in. Personalities may not work well together which could make the situation ten times worse.
Make sure to become attentive in class and overlook diversions. Begin to get ready for college or making sense of what one wants to do after high school. On the off chance that one is thinking about college study for the ACT or SAT. Never settle for a low score or a poor grade; likewise, if there is something that is not understandable approach the educator or request a tutor. Evaluations and
First you need to attend all of your classes. You cant go have good grades if you don't participate in all your classes. Many student just skip school for no reason. Also, most people always want to sit in the back of the class. What some teachers don't know is that there students are basically learning nothing.
Did you know that going to school could be stressful? Well, not when you have life for breakfast!. Getting to classes on the first day might be hard because you may not know where everything is if you ever forget a book or a pencil that’s okay because I am sure that a lot of other people have forgotten a book or a pencil in the past. Being an A+ student will help you with your grades and even with deciding what you would like to be when you grow up, but make sure you study!
When I went into middle school a lot of things have changed about me. But just a few are going to be the same forever. Some things that have changed about me are bad choices I have made. But also some are good things.
