My Passion My Passion is football because it's fun when i hit other people on the other team. Its also my passion because it involves teamwork and having fun with all your teammates. I'm going to tell a story of how it became my passion overtime. There was only 2 weeks of summer left. The two weeks past and it was the first day of school. All the classes were easy because all we had to do was turn in supplies to the teachers. Each class was the same since every teacher just explained what they wanted from us and they explained their class rules. Athletics came and it was just a period of getting stuff ready and getting helmets for everybody. I was relieved that we didn’t have to do anything on that day but the next day we started to practice. …show more content…
We only had to put on a helmet and the shirts and shorts they gave us. We practiced like this for a few days. After that we had to get pads and pants for practice. When we got all of those things we started practicing with full pads. We practiced for the rest of the two weeks we had. Those two weeks of practice went by and it was time for the game. My passion started when the first game came. When we got to Johnson City I wasn’t ready for what was going to happen. We were watching the 7th grade game and later on the JV got there. Later on my sister got there and she was wearing a shirt that had my number on it. She told me that i better get a tackle or she was going to beat me up. All the football guys around me started to laugh. They told me that you better get a tackle. After that Risien told us to go to an open space so we could warm up. After we did all the warm up stuff we went to one of the corners of the field and knelt down and …show more content…
After all that happened i wasn't as nervous as i was. As the game past they hadn’t scored at all. When we first scored i didn’t think much of it. In the inside i had a little bit of excitement but not that much. When they had the ball they hadn’t had a good play and went little by little. It went from little too little to a big play all of a sudden. When i saw the people on the line they looked at me like if i was crazy. I looked back at them the same way. After a few plays they had to punt the ball. We got it and started our drive. We ran one play and it worked for a few yards. Coach would run the play over and over again. We ran the play over and over again until we made the touchdown. After that there wasn’t much action in the game. When it was over i was very proud of myself. We said good game and went to the corner of the field. The coach talked to us and told us good job. After that he let us go and told us to change. Before i went to go change my sister was on the other side of the fence and wanted to take a picture of me. She told me good job and she said that she was going to leave so i said goodbye and went to the locker room to change. On the inside i was happy about my team and myself. When i got changed we all went to
I had eaten great all day and I was ready for hell. I got there and didn’t realize there were 100 kid trying out for 2 teams. Mikey and I started off by doing line drills and I wasn’t the best but I was doing what coach had asked everyone to do. I was the only one giving it 110%. Then long field passes were next. Again this was all new to me and I was just going with it. Thirty minutes into practice I felt a bump on my shoulder. It was coach Haven. He asked me, “Hey La Garsssa how long have you been playing lacrosse for? I responded with “oh you know 30mi…. he was shocked and wasn’t ready for the response. I did have great ball handling skills and I was working my ass
The game was about to start and the whole team is in a huddle, with the coach in the middle; about to announce who was starting the game. I look up at the stands the crowd is packed, there was no more seats in the bleachers. Suddenly, I hear my coach say my name. I look at my teammates and am in shock because I was not expecting to play at
The horn blew and the game started, Dedham won the face off and is running down the field at a faster pace than I was used to. They shot the ball! I couldn’t move my stick quick enough to save it, so I threw my body in front of it and got hit right in the shoulder. It hurt a lot, but what I hadn’t realized was that it hit my shoulder and reflected ten feet away from the net where my player caught it and ran down the field and scored. The other team didn’t know what hit them. It was the half now and the score was three to nothing in our favor. Our couch told us that we needed to keep up the good work.
As I looked at the scoreboard all I was focusing on was the running clock…25...24...23...22... "One last play and this things over" I said to my teammates in the huddle. "The easiest play in all of football baby!" RJ exclaimed to me. 18…17…16...15 I ran up to the line, a sigh over relief came over me. I knew I did it again. "HIKE!" And all I had to do was take a knee. 12... 10.... 8... 6...4...2...1. Game over, 55-49. In my head all I could think about was the MVP of the game: ME.
Later in the point, after many turnovers, the opposing team made some solid connections up the field; eventually scoring a point. Desperation crept into the minds of the players on both teams as the score came closer and closer in their game to seven
At the end of the three weeks the team had an inter squad scrimmage so the coaches could actually see how we performed in an actual game. I went into that scrimmage very relaxed and confident and came out feeling very confident and knowing that I did what I needed to do to make the team. The day finally came where we found out if we made the team or not.
Riley, our starting quarterback, placed his hands on the helmet of the right tackle, as he did every play. He called the play looking straight into my eyes signaling the pass was coming to me. My entire body tingled with excitement as I ran to the left of the field. I could feel my cleats dig into the soft, freshly cut field as I took my stance. I looked up into the sky seeing only white lights which created the stage for the football field. As I brought my head down slowly to see the white eyes of the defender across from me, my heart beat slowed and I was still, in peace for the short moment. The quarterback hiked the ball and I began in pursuit; shifting, juking to get away from my defender. We were side-by-side running down the field as the ball was thrown into the air, coming strait to me. I jumped up and became airborne, snagging it from the lit up, night sky. Falling back with the ball secured into my arms, I felt my defenders full weight push into my left leg. A snap rang out as we hit the ground together and I looked down to see a large bump sticking straight left out of my
The coach called us up to see who was there and we were told to write our names and ID numbers on a paper. From there we proceeded some pretty easy drills and speed tests. Overall,
As our season ended earlier than we wanted my mind filled with memories of everything this team accomplished this season. I thought back to the games we won, the practices we had, and my time with the kids. I looked around at the excitement on display by the team that won, and the dejection on the faces of my team. I looked into the stands to see the band, the cheerleaders, the families, and the friends that all stayed until the end to send the boys home one more time. I walked to the locker room and listened to the coaches and the players say their goodbyes to the 2016 team and challenge the 2017 team.
This was not the place to show people your weaknesses. I slide out of the truck grab my stuff and made my way down to the red dirt field. I hang my bag up and look on to see a large group of girls all putting their cleats on, talking, laughing, and carrying on. These girls aren’t my teammates. The other girls on my old team were.
“I signed you up for baseball.” That’s when I remembered her asking me, and I said yes brushing it off without realizing what I had said. She told me that my first practice was in a couple of days, and I didn’t know what to say. I had forgotten all about this until now. Then next day in school, my classmate asked me about it,
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
My whole life I've been dedicated to playing football. It has changed my life, and me as a person in ways I couldn't have imagined. I developed a strong passion for the game because it has helped me get through difficult parts of my life and has allowed me to take away, as well as learn, new things. Even though it's just a sport that people play for fun, it has helped me grow into who I am as an individual today.
His lack of skill in basketball had helped cause many turnovers for the other team. We eventually pulled out and won the game as the underdogs the score was 15-8. Our team was gleaming with happiness because we had done what we thought was not possible. Although, we had won my pessimistic thoughts kept from regaining my confidence. I still thought we were going to lose in the second round, and I did not know what was going on with me.
I don't usually play here. I started out the half with a few opportunities but then the perfect ball was sent over by my defender. He sent the ball over and I took it off. I ran as fast as lightning after that ball.
