Personal Narrative: My Love Of Musical Theatre

Ever since I was a little, I have always loved musical theater and performing. I loved performing things like shows for my family with things we found around the house. There are so many amazing reasons to love performing. Like the spotlights shining on your face, the adrenaline rushing through your body, the feelings of being a star, getting to play your dream role, the close friendships you make with the cast and crew, and having all of your friends and family come to watch you perform. When I was little my cousin Sarah and I used to put on shows for my family during the holidays at my great aunt’s house. We would perform holiday songs, songs from musicals, or our favorite tunes from the radio shows we would listen to. We would use old items as props and my older cousin’s dance costumes. Then, the music would start playing and I could feel my heart beating throughout my whole body. Even with that adrenaline rush, I still found a way to sing and dance.It felt like an outer body experience. My brain went on auto-pilot. I loved being the opening act and the first thing the audience sees because even though it is a lot of pressure, when you pull it off, hit every beat and sing every note, it feels so rewarding. Though playing Ladahlord was amazing, my favorite play I’ve ever done is Annie at River Parish Theater where I played an orphan.
