Since the time I started taking computer science classes during high school, I started facing projects that challenged me mentally. But, one of the most difficult projects I faced in my life was in AP Computer Science. When I was in twelfth grade, our classmates had to code a game. Our class never had an experience designing a game; we always worked on small projects independently. This was our first time working in groups. We were allowed 3 students per group and each group had to make a unique game. During those two months, I learned that team work is a really important aspect of professional life. Our group decided to distribute work among ourselves and expected each other to finish it. Since we never designed a game before, it was hard
for each and every one of us to gather ideas. We did some research using internet and figured out how to get started. My work included to code a class which monitors mouse and keyboard inputs and synchronize it with game we were creating. After trying for a few days, I figured out part of my code but couldn’t really get it done. Later, I decided to ask my group mates for help and that is when I realized that team work is really important part of any project or research. If one person is struggling, it is another person’s duty to help him/her out. Similarly, one of our team-mates was struggling but he was not speaking up; he did not realize that because of one person, a whole team can suffer. This is when I realized that confronting the group-mates and telling them what is wrong is the best option. After the hard work of two months, we managed to code a working game. This was definitely one of the most complex projects I have ever face in my life while working in a team.
Walking into Walnut Hills High School right now would have anyone thinking the just walked into the middle of a tornado. Everyone you look there are students running in and out of doors, in and out of cars, and most certainly either turning in missing assignments or retaking tests. There is only one way for you to explain all this ciaos, Senior Year, the year that all teens await with so much excitement and ambition and the year that every single hour long study dates pays off. For the class of 2021 this isn’t just their final year at Walnut Hills this is the year that friends separate and head off to their different university to follow their dreams.
In addition to this, I feel that my Team building class gave me good insight into the inner workings and mechanics of how teams work. More work.
By working together there is information sharing, improve safety and quality also collaboration gives knowledge to other professionals. (Littlechild and Smith, 2013).what I have learned through working in partnership with other professionals was creating a poster related to what each professional does. Some of the professionals I did not know how exactly they work together in partnership. Example: I was not aware of how a radiology would work with a social work and the outcome of that was that Radiology develop and maintain collaborative relationship with medical colleagues and participates in regular meetings with other professionals activities to meet the needs of a service users therefore they collaborate with Social Workers. By doing a poster and delivering information I learned a lot from the other team members, shared experiences knowledge and skills with other group members. Group work made me realise how it is very important to work in multi-displinary team, the benefit of it and what others can benefit from. During the poster each of the student was from different professional however we all had the question but each had to look at it in each profession perspectives. This gave an opportunity to everyone to go and search for each professional and communicate with the rest of the group the outcome of the presentation. It all began when I was in a group of four in my AP U.S. History class. My peers and I would get a lot of work from our teacher and eventually we all figured out that if we were going to keep up with our college classes and our high school classes then we were going to have to work in teams. So, we all decided to split up our work in order to stay on top of our work. The thing was that we could only sit in groups of four and my main friends were already in a group of four, meaning I was going to find another group to sit with. What I didn’t know was that it was going to be a lot easier to just do my work alone.
It then proceeds to examine the need for these skills in the real world and the need for these skills to be taught at university level. It starts by examining the general case of all students arriving in college for the first time and by the end gets to the particular needs of computer science students and others in the more practical disciplines.
During the first year of focusing on culture, I worked with two other group members to teach the rest of my club about the Greek culture. We collaborated with one another to create a presentation and Olympic course after we learned that the original Olympics was held in Greece. Each week the other captain and I would get creative to make fun computer games. Computer programming does not sound like a fun topic to students therefore it took a great amount of work to make it an attractive team to join. The second obstacle that we faced was teaching students in the middle school division of our team. As juniors we had undergone some difficulty grasping the concept ourselves; now we were being asked to explain it to twelve year olds who had little idea of how to simply open up the Java program. Along with the help of our advisor we were able overcome this challenge.
