My
Journey
to America

Nigeria to the United States permanently feels great, but at the same time it is sad l eaving some loved ones and family behind.
There are many events in life, which can change one’s way of thinking. As for me, one of the major change s in my life occurred when I moved from
Africa
to America. This change has entirely affected my personality positively .
Why?
Many foreigners want to come to
America
mostly in search of greener pastures and to further e ducation .
It
was about seven - years ago when I stepped my feet on the soil of the United states of America, and I remembered vividly how it all st arted from a dream.
I
was born in the western part of Africa, in a country called Nigeria

I broke down emotionally after seeing the tears of my grandma and my other loved ones. Although we were all still happy, the feeling became bittersweet as we said our fa rewell.
However,
I knew I had to

I arrived at the airport at approximately 8:30 p . m . and my plane was set to take off at about 10

Finally, on October the 16 th ,

, it was indeed a dream come true
.
I looked through the window and
I
saw a place completely different than what I had ever known.
As I stepped out,
I immediately started to feel the chilly and cool weather ,
I had never experienced cold temperatu re because I was so used to the summer/warm t emperature in Nigeria.
As far as I am concerned, moving to the United States has taught me a lot
,
there are a lot of aspects that I had not thought about such as the people, their mentalities, the food,
culture,
I remember the first time I came to America; I was 10 years old. Everything was exciting! From getting into an airplane, to viewing magnificent, huge buildings from a bird’s eye view in the plane. It was truly memorable. After staying few days at my mother’s house, my father and I wanted to see what Dallas looks like. But because my mother was working the whole day, it wasn’t convenient for her to show us the area except only on Sundays. Finally, we went out to the nearby mall with my mother. My father and I were astonished after looking at a variety of stores. But after looking at different stores, we were finally tired and hungry, so we went into McDonald’s. Not being familiar with fast food restaurants, we were curious to try American
Life sets out many pathways to decide your future. It can give you experiences and certain experiences in your life can impact you a lot. Today I’m going to talk about how moving to America has impacted me is that the fact that the American culture has changed me completely. One obvious reason American culture has changed me is the fact that I am speaking English right now. Learning English took me awhile even tho I’m still not fluent in it.
happiness, (go to school and graduate from college with a great career, fall in love, get married,
Every person has an American Dream they want to pursue, achieve and live. Many people write down goals for themselves in order to get to their dream. Those never ending goals can range from academic to personal. As of today, I am living my dream. My American Dream is to become a nurse, travel to many places, have a family, and get more involved with God.
Coming to a foreign country is a daunting experience. When I first moved to America, I had to leave everything behind such as, - my family, friends, and life back home. Although I welcomed the change, I was also afraid. This fear hovered over me for a long time before I had the courage to let it go. My experiences, both good and bad, allowed me to break out of my shell, become a leader for my family, and strive against all the odds to achieve my goals.
I aspire to become a leader in my family and community inspiring those around me to maximize life to its fullest potential. To use my God given gifts and talents to apply the principles necessary, to make a significant difference in the lives of others. To live a balanced life challenging myself intellectually as well as allowing time for my mind to rest and do things I enjoy. To look at life through a child’s eyes, not being distressed about the past or worrying about the future. All the while dancing like nobody’s watching.
There are compartments in my head that makes me who I am. I am an african american. My religion is christian/baptist. My family is originally from Austin, tx but we’re military so we’re very mobile. If you were to ask someone about me I’m sure they would say something about my random acts of kindness and my love for kids.
Culture is something that we all have. It illustrates who we are as people. There are many types of cultures in this world. The one culture that illustrates who I am is Mexican. I was raised in which some would call a typical Mexican family. In my family are my mom, stepdad, and siblings but my real dad is German and African American, which I still see whenever I want which is a lot. It's common that my parents have extended family over like cousins, grandparents etc. and nobody in my family is quiet and I mean nobody. Everytime I walk in my house it's loud, festive as if we were having a party or a fiesta.
Those were the final words in the letter my father gave me at the airport. We both cried as we said our goodbyes and I embarked on my journey to my new life in America. I will never forget that day. It is ingrained in my memory as the day my life changed forever.
We have started our long journey to North America. It shouldn’t be that much farther according to John Smith, our leader. Our journeys purpose is to start a new English colony in North America. While in North America we have also been instructed to find some gold and silver. This trip has been long and exhausting, I can’t wait to reach our destination and catch up on as much sleep as possible. One of my main fears is to come across some natives that might be a friendly as we think. No telling what could happen to us and our people.
It was about two years ago when I arrived in United States of America, and I still remember the day when I left my native country, Honduras. As I recall, one day previous to my departure, I visited my relatives who live in San Pedro Sula. They were all very happy for me to see me except my grandmother Isabel. She looked sad; even though she tried to smile at all times when I was talking to her, I knew that deep inside of her, her heart was broken because of my departure the next morning. I remember that I even told her, “Grandma, do not worry about me, I’ll be fine. I promise that I will write you letters and send you pictures as much as possible.” Here reply was, “I know sweetie I know you will.” Suddenly after she said that I started to cry. For som...
Well, I guess there is no true way to sugar coat this so from my personal experiences, I feel as if black people are far more racist than white people. Now before completely shutting this down, at least hear the examples. First off, lets discuss the lecture from October 21, 2014 when we watched the video on social class. There was the WASPs and Jack and Jill. The organization WASP was never created as a group originally. It was the term used for Protestants of English descent that spoke the Angelo-Saxon language. The “W” was never incorporated until 1957 by a political scientist; even then, the “W” stood for wealthy, not white. In 1938, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was opened by Marion Stubbs solely for African Americans. And even then, the
My goal is the final destination of my financial success. It is to be able to pay bills without worry, be free of debt, have enough money for my kids to go to colleges and help other people with my financial resources.
My biggest dream of all is to be remembered. I want to touch people in such a way that they will never forget who I am. I want them to tell their grandchildren stories about me and for them to tell their grandchildren and so on. That way, I’ll still be alive years after I actually die. However, this will be very difficult.
My goal is to go to college and then have a career. It 's a goal that probably a lot of people have,
