Recommended: Importance of patience
I have always been sure that I am patient. I believe that I can easily see situations in different perspectives. However, it was brought to my attention that I lack in patience and perspective when faced with frustrating situations. A late evening with infuriating car problems opened my eyes to numerous notions. Not only did I recognize how unprepared I am for these situations and my deficient car skills, I recognized my lack of gratitude and perseverance in trying situations. It is crucial to put patience and perspective into practice in all situations. After a long day and tiring event, a small group of my friends and I stopped off for food. We figured after we devoured our food, we would fill up on gas before we continued on our drive. …show more content…
All of us in the car shared confused, questioning glances with each other. It was evident as we tried to inspect the car for signs of what was going on, we had no idea what we were doing. As we failed to identify the problem and how to address it, we all started to feel the uncertainty and frustration creep upon. We were all tired and ready to relax and this situation certainly pushed the idea of relaxation far, far away. Not only that, but the people hanging around the gas station at this hour were acting in a questionable manner. The atmosphere had shifted into an uncomfortable, eerie …show more content…
Although none of us had the resources to find metric bolts, I was in a familiar area so I was able to call someone for help. They were able to find an assortment of bolts, that we prayed would be a quick fix. Our apprehension rose as the guy surveyed the bolts. He nodded as he felt the bolts in his hands. "These will work." Those three words induced a unison sigh from my group. We watched as the two men worked together to fix the car. Regardless of the relief we felt, we were still worried that it may not work. What if the car has problems as we continue to drive? What if they can't fix it? How much will it cost to professionally fix it? Problematic outcomes ran through our minds as we continued to survey the situation before us. Yet, they defied our worries that they wouldn't be able to fix it. They put the tire plate back in place and began to wipe of their grease clad hands off with napkins. "Why don't you give it a test?" The AutoZone employee nodded at us. As instructed, we gave the car a small test drive. The unsettling sound could not be heard anymore. The sound of silence had never been so
Dianne Hales wrote in the article a quote by Sybil Evans “since we’re always running, we’re tense and low on patience. And the less patience, we have, the less we monitor what we say to people and how we treat them.” Dianne Hales wrote that dangerous eruptions of mad angry in any city on earth. Dianne Hales wrote that the recent period of significant output within a population by productivity increases, sales increases, wage increases and rising demand may cause people to go crazy and not act their selves and people are living 24/7/365. The quote means, today people have so many things to do in a 24 day that they are tense and because of that they are low on patience. Low on patience can make people eager and just desire to get things done and that can contribute to being rude to other people. I concur with this statement from Dianne Hales and Sybil Evans. I do feel people are low on patience and that people can become rude to other people. I once seen a guy low on patience and got rude someone. For example, I was in line on iPhone 6 plus launch day at a local Apple shop and there were hundreds of people in line. They were waiting for the line to move and get the new iPhone. There was a guy behind me and he looked like he was getting eager and he started to yell across the room to move. He was fidgeting and started to push me forward. Lucky for me a security guard discovered him and grabbed him out of the long
This is the real-time application of the age old canard, “There is no problem that we cannot solve together.”, and thus, the heart of this principle. There may be setbacks, but there is absolutely no unfixable problem. Missteps are always learning devices and life-training tools. This attitude is invaluable. This idea is not just important in Creative Followership, but is a theme emphasized in every work ever written by powerful leaders dating back to the writings of the Roman general and emperor Marcus Aurelius.
Silence — the sound of quiet, the state of mind, the lack of meaning — all these pertain to its definition. Communication is expanding, noise is increasing, music is becoming more obtainable as people search desperately for a moment of peace or a breeze of silence. As the scarcity of physical silence increases, its value as a rare commodity increases as well. The idiom “Silence is golden” may perhaps only grow closer to reality as time passes, as exemplified by the white noise machines or silent fans entering the market and fictionalized in Kevin Brockmeier’s short story, “The Year of Silence.” In light of this, Brockmeier explores the value of silence and noise in his story without putting one above the other. Through strange clues and hidden
As we are on our way towards California our car starts to slow down by itself. We were in the middle of nowhere with no one around, because we are taking a different way. We did not want to wait in traffic. I woke everyone up and told them that our car was out of gas. “How could this happen?” said Catherine, “How have you not noticed?” I did not know how to answer her question. We looked at a map that we had in the car. We started to push it toward the nearest main road. We saw others broken down on the side of the road. They had a flat tire so, we decided to help. In return we were able to get some of their gas that they had. It was already getting dark so we pulled over on the side of the road. We made the tent and fell asleep. Catherine asked, “Will we make it out of this?” I replied, “ We will found out
...mistakes and they work hard to fix it they don’t really care at the end of the day because sooner or later they will be doing the same thing and are going to need the same help doing the same thing.
A skill that I am now aware that I learned through the Natural Human Learning Process is the skill of driving. I was motivated to start drive because, I didn’t want to ask my parents to take me anywhere, and I was also tired of being late to events. I began practicing by...

The Sound of Silence is a song written by Paul Simon and was released in 1966. This song consists of poetic devices and a message of communication. This song has been written in first person, and in the first verse, the author greets and personifies ‘darkness’ as an ‘old friend.’ This can be interpreted as a drea...
According to Roberto Canessa’s interview, a hero of the Andes plane crash stated his memories “That was how we moved forward to our objective. What kept us strong was thinking about the next day “maybe tomorrow” was what kept us alive 72 days, “maybe tomorrow” we’ll get out of here, “maybe tomorrow” we’ll reach the summit, “maybe tomorrow” was our motive.” Patience is a crucial feature that helps to not lose hope, faith and mercy. It is also one of the virtues that I will intensively need to possess. Patience is largely needed especially in times of sorrow, discouragement, and anguish.
It was a sunny day. The leftovers of last week’s snowstorm still blanketed most of the surrounding area. I decided, after straggling about the house for nearly two hours, lethargy slowly creeping in, that I would go for a drive. I leaped in my trusty old Maverick and roared away. The Maverick, which I bought in 1975, was dark blue, (my favorite color). It was a steal and only ten years past its prime. It was a good, trustworthy car and until today, I had not had any problems with it. This was a spontaneous kind of getaway, so nothing was planned, no basket of food prepared, nor did I make any other preparations. Living in the city can be depressing so getting away from the concrete jungle for a few hours was a welcomed escape. I have not lived in this city for very long, although I knew the names of the adjoining towns, there were a few that I did not know. However, being the adventurer that I am, I drove off in a direction that I have never been. I do not know why I did not think to look at the gas gauge before I left perhaps I was too preoccupied with the thought of fleeing that I did not care.
When faced with problems, I always try to stay calm and identify the root of the problem. Afterwards, I determine what is the best action to take by observing the positive and the negative of each choices of action.
It’s fairly easy for me to go charging into something without thinking about my actions or the consequences. I have found that it is much more difficult to stop, consider the options and find all of the facts. Patience’s is not an easy thing to put into practice, it is something that takes time. Over time I grew more patient and more understanding of situations and people, which has helped me in both my job and in my everyday

We finish what we start. This was the motto that kept me going during the strenuous training period for a marathon. But prior to that, I must confess, I wasn’t an athlete. I was never interested in playing sports, except for recreational badminton. During gym class, I would walk three quarters of the time when it time for the dreaded mile run. I preferred staying indoors and sitting on the couch and watch movies. The first time I had heard about a marathon training program, called Dreamfar, in my school, I thought to myself, what kind of crazy person would want to run a marathon? Never did I realize, eight months later, I would be that crazy person.
Finally it passed through the other side followed by an eerie screeching sound. The dreadful sound was emanating from the dry rotted tires that were rubbing against the rails. After the car emerged from the exit of the car wash, it was then wiped dry by the co-workers of the car wash. Watching the employee’s wipe the car I could hear the boy my age say, “I feel bad for who ever owns that car”. The car was fully washed and ready to go as one of the staff members approached the benched and asked which one of us the owner of the vehicle. Again the muttered another comment, “sure isn’t mine”. The comment from the boy made me hesitant, but for a moment I realized the only person I was fooling was myself. So I picked myself up and as I was about to leave, the man in his mid forties stated to me “it could have been worse, my first car barely ran”. With that comment I was a little more encouraged to get into the car and leave with some dignity.
