Right before the summer of 2016, I was ecstatic to be one of the 8 people out of the whole junior class selected to go on a trip out west. I have never gone on a camping trip nor have I been out west before. We flew into Phoenix, Arizona for a youth exploration program. They paired my high school’s group up with 8 other high school students from Flagstaff. We explored multiple canyons and trails on our five-day road trip into northern Utah, where we were going to end our journey with a four-day river trip in the Green River. All I knew was that we might go hiking and for a road trip in the desert. I really didn’t know what I was in for. As a person from the city, I honestly can say I was miserable. We were not allowed to have our phones
One of the most surprising and uncommon events happened to me in the summer of 2015, Sedona, Arizona. It started out as a pleasant summer getaway; visiting the Grand Canyon, Sedona rock slides, and just having an amazing, memorable time with friends and family. One day, we decided that it would be enjoyable to have a picnic in the forest. The trees were deep green and lush. The tranquil, relaxing stream of a nearby river could be heard, and birds were chirping cheerfully. After lunch, we all decided upon venturing deeper into the forest near the river. On a rock, a single bright, pastel green caterpillar- equipped with unique spikes, caught our eyes. None of us had ever seen such a creature. We were captivated and intrigued. Since we were not
For years I’ve been planning a family vacation but had never decided a pleasant and fascinating place to visit. A lot of people relate the adventures in San Antonio for tourists. To mention a few, The Riverwalk, Sea World, Six Flags Fiesta, and The Tower of the Americas are the main attractions that would be perfect for a family trip. I was so enthusiastic and explored more into it. I gave my family the great news of going and exploring this amazing city on our own! San Antonio offers the best of attractions and activities in all Texas! Whether you’re looking for popular entertainment for the whole family or to spend time with your friends, I was so positive I had made a superb decision!
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
I wonder if I should I start calling Las Vegas, Nevada home now. I’ve traveled back and forth from California to Las Vegas since I was a child. I can remember at the age of thirteen my family and I would take family weekend trips very often. By the age of seventeen I was forced to move to Vegas for 6 months right before my senior year of high school started. Since it was my last year of high school my parents decided to let me go back to California for the last three months and graduate with my friends. Since I wasn’t eighteen yet, I forced to go back to Las Vegas right the day after graduation.
On April 26, 2003 Aron Ralston was hiking alone through Blue John Canyon, in eastern Wayne County, Utah, just south of the Horseshoe Canyon unit of Canyon lands National Park. When the unexpected happened where suddenly Aron’s life was on the line. Aron Ralston was an arrogant and independent adventurous. Ralston would do anything adventurous that didn’t involve family or someone helping him. He wouldn’t talk to any of his family. Ralston would ignore them because he thought they couldn’t help him. Also, he thought they would want someone to go with him in case of an emergency. After an hour or two of climbing mountains and hiking in the canyon Aron tried climbing down Blue John canyon. This canyon which only is three feet wide and seventy
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
“Let’s go see the long-neck asaurus!” exclaimed Kae Lynn, while Tristan’s eyes lit up as she excitedly said “Yeah!”. Which led to a weekend in Rapid City. My Mom would be taking us to Rapid City, because she didn’t have work. Consequently booking us a room at the Ramkota. We then decided on picking up Kae Lynn first, since she lived in Eagle Butte, then we will pick up Tristan in Dupree.
Have you ever been to New Mexico? I can tell you from experience that it’s a very fun place.
America, Almost every single person on earth has a dream of living in a country full of freedom, liberty, and opportunity. The United States has been providing these benefits ever since it was founded a few hundred years ago. So when I found out that my family would be coming to America, I had already started planning my future of growing up here. Just like any other person, I was feeling enthusiastic and a little nervous of leaving my native country and coming to America to start a better life. I was completely lost in my thoughts of happiness, that I became unaware of all the difficulties that my family and I would face once we step into our new lives. Among these difficulties were the change of language, change of system, and the variety of different cultures.
My little sister cried as she said goodbye to my parents before liftoff, this would be our first time traveling to our “homeland”, Mexico. We would meet the strangers we called family and embrace the culture. I strained my neck to find a familiar face, cupping my hands to form a telescope I spotted my Grandmother. Dragging my heavy bag I side hugged her and awkwardly shook my relatives’ hands.
I came with high hopes and aspirations. My hometown is not near Arizona, it is Lake Tahoe, Nevada, so going home for the weekend was simply out of the question. I had a great time for the first month, enjoying freedom. However, I was sitting in my room one night writing a paper with my roommate, and one of my friends from home called me. She said that one of her good friends from high school had just committed suicide earlier that day.
I have been traveling for a while now. My family and I go visit Mexico almost every summer ever since I can remember. We go to Mexico usually to visit my family and to just relax and have a fun time. However one summer when I went to Mexico a lot of things happened that made an impact on my life. I experienced new things that I had never experienced before. These events have helped me to grow up , have a different view on things, and to become more responsible.
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
