“Let’s go see the long-neck asaurus!” exclaimed Kae Lynn, while Tristan’s eyes lit up as she excitedly said “Yeah!”. Which led to a weekend in Rapid City. My Mom would be taking us to Rapid City, because she didn’t have work. Consequently booking us a room at the Ramkota. We then decided on picking up Kae Lynn first, since she lived in Eagle Butte, then we will pick up Tristan in Dupree. Before we left for Rapid City, we stopped at Cenex to pick up some snacks for the two hour-long drive. Meanwhile, they were getting snacks, I stayed in the car, trying to connect my phone to the car’s stereo. A couple of minutes later Kae Lynn, Tristan, and my mom made their way to the car. Kae Lynn carried a bag of hot Cheetos, Swedish fish, and a bottle sweet tea, while Tristan had a bag of pretzels and a bottle of sweet tea. Likewise, my Mom came out with a steaming hot cup of french vanilla coffee and a bag of Munchies for me. After getting our snacks, we were finally ready to go to Rapid …show more content…
We first went to the Ramkota to check in and put our stuff in the room, and then we left to go to the dinosaur park. After climbing the steep set of stairs, up to the seven dinosaur sculptures. Kae Lynn took off running to the tallest dinosaur, screaming “The long-neck asaurus!”. My Mom then had us stand underneath the tallest dinosaur by its belly and also had us sit on the Triceratops, so that she could take pictures of the three of us. Then we went to Flags and Wheels, to play laser tag. When we got there we had to put on these light up vests that glowed two different colors, red and blue. All of the lights flickered off before the game started, making it completely dark except for the glow in the dark paint splattered on the walls. After playing a couple of games, we finally came out of the room, our eyes hurting from being in the dark for so long and our skin glistening with sweat, while our chests hurt from

The desire to learn about family and its history can lead a man to great monuments of nature. Scott Momaday is Kiowa in the blood, but doesn’t know the impact of his ancestry, what they had to endure, and how they adapted to the obstacles thrown at them. Scott Momaday decides to travel 1,500 miles to “see in reality” what his family went through. He writes this story with a mixture of folklore, myth, history and personal reflections. Scott Momaday uses nature as a main component of his story, incorporating different voices and his memory to bring personal vision into the story with different time frames to give the ultimate experience of the Kiowa and his family.
When the Dunbar is first assigns himself to Fort Sedgwick, and sees that it is abandoned, he is still intent on staying, despite the guffaws of Timmons, a peasant who delivers him there. He starts cleaning up the camp and filling in the caves made by past residents. This shows that he places himself as a U.S. Army Soldier, and his loyalties lie with them. As the plot develops the tribe thinks that they can use Dunbar to tell them when and if more “White People” will be coming. Dunbar finds out that the Sioux people have little furnishing of buffalo left, and need more food to survive. Although Dunbar is withholding information about how many white people will be coming he still feels compelled to notify the Lakota Sioux where he saw a herd of buffalo stampeding by. He is feeling a transition in himself from soldier to Sioux, and this is even more prominent when Dunbar is given his own lodge among the tribe and is narrated to feel comfortable there. When Dunbar begins to learn Sioux and feels a sense of pride when the Sioux win against the Pawnee his evol...
Have you ever looked off a gigantic cliff? Now imagine traveling 30 miles per hour on a bike with curvy roads with enormous cliffs on your side with no rails. This is exactly what I did with my family when we went to Colorado. From the hotel we drove to a bike tour place to take us to the summit of Pikes Peak. After we arrived at the building we saw pictures of how massive the cliffs were, but what terrified me was the fact they had no side rails. This observation was thrilling as well as terrifying. It was an odd mix of emotions, but I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me. My dad whispered to me, “ This will be absolutely horrifying”.
I wonder if I should I start calling Las Vegas, Nevada home now. I’ve traveled back and forth from California to Las Vegas since I was a child. I can remember at the age of thirteen my family and I would take family weekend trips very often. By the age of seventeen I was forced to move to Vegas for 6 months right before my senior year of high school started. Since it was my last year of high school my parents decided to let me go back to California for the last three months and graduate with my friends. Since I wasn’t eighteen yet, I forced to go back to Las Vegas right the day after graduation.
On the way to camp Kangaroobie we went to Mr Mcguane’s farm. The year 5 bus broke down so we came late. When we got there, we walked around this little river skipping rocks and getting stuck in the mud. When we arrived at camp, went to our cabins, and I was with, Emily, Felicia, Sarah, Grace and Klara, we packed our bag and went for a walk down to the beach! It was really fun because we went across rivers and walked through the sand dunes! When we got there, we jumped off and slid down the sand
As my family piled into our car for our four-hour drive, I sincerely hoped my brothers wouldn’t ruin the best chance that we’ve had in a long time. They were already arguing about who got what video game, and were not making my mom and dad feel any better about going. We were going to Illinois, to Chicago, to be even more specific. Chicago was the city I’d been dreaming about visiting for a long time. (Well, that and New York.) I could not believe that my parents were getting out of their comfort zone and taking us to a big city.
Years ago my family took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I chose this common experience for this memory assignment. First, I made a list of all the things I remembered from my trip at Yellowstone. I remembered we traveled in our motorhome and got halfway to our destination and parked on the side of the road and slept there for the night. I remember seeing the famous geyser; Old Faithful, in addition to seeing lots of bison, and bears. I recall one night that we stayed in a campground bears were in the campground and we were being told to stay in our campers. I also remember during the trip my dad would give me all the spare change and I would collect it. I saved the change up to buy souvenirs or candy. I also remember going to a shirt
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
getting across the road. “he's like me,” I tell my daughter and she stops eating
My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning loaded down with a bus full of twenty four teenagers including me. We were off at last head to Colorado Spring Colorado, little did I know, our bus was going to fall apart this very day.
Within a week of finding out my dad was gone forever, me along with my eight brothers and sisters, my recently widowed ( and pregnant ) mom, and a handful of personal items left the comfort of our small Charleston, home and were packed up in a van and shipped off to Memphis, Tennessee to start a new life. The wound of my father's death was still so raw that I refused to accept that the strange city of Memphis was my new home, and that somehow my father was alive and well, and all we needed to do was go back to Charleston and be with him. And as days in Memphis turned to weeks ,and then months, the realization and acceptance of my new life set in, and I began to embrace Memphis as my new home. as the years passed I made
So I went to Las Vegas with my toddler Spanish and came back a boy! There was not many Spanish speaking people when I went. I was a bit of a creeper listening to random conversations wearing my cheap sunglasses. I would try my best to find the verb, subject, and object they were talking about. Basic words like sed, hambre, mira, mi, tu were common. Sometimes I would recognize the verb but could not figure out the verb ending kind of like trabajarldfkjsdpsb. I was asked a few times if I spoke Spanish and I always replied with “Hablo un poco”. They would then send a flurry of words in my direction as I stood hopeless trying to understand. Occationally I would muster up the courage to order in Spanish or to say anything in Espanol. It was incredibly
With the sun warm on our skin, we played capture the flag, red rover, and any variation of tag. Once, my mom bought us a badminton set, and we spent a whole day attempting to figure out how to play this crazy new game. The beast was our sitter, watching out for us with a wary eye. Sometimes, when the heat got too oppressive, we roamed the neighborhood, eyes peeled and ears listening for the ice cream truck. Sweaty t-shirts, sticky faces, and uncontrollable laughter filled these summer days.
Getting lost in a mall was something I was keen on doing. On that day I was on a field trip for my _ grade class. We went to McWane Science Center, it was one of the best places I ever been. I remember touching little sting rays and bamboo sharks. It reminded me of my most favorite place I the world, Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.
