When asking most people his or her favorite season that person will say the basic spring, summer, fall, or winter; however, I think of seasons differently. My seasons consist of track season, from the end of February until April; no school season, from May until July; cross country season, from August until November; and soccer season, from November until the middle of February. My life as a high school athlete revolves around school and sports; therefore, my thinking of seasons also revolves around school and sports. There is an attraction to cross country season unlike any other season; consequently, it is my favorite season. Cross country season: the weather, the team, and the euphoria of winning make this the best time of the year. The …show more content…
There is no closer bond than that of a cross country team who puts in countless grueling hours of practice together each day during the season. The only thing I could possibly compare this bond to is a brotherhood. The people of cross country are sometimes the only motivation for such a strenuous sport; when I want to quit during a particularly hard practice I rely on my teammates to pull me through. They are always with me even on my worst days, and they are a family I would not trade for the …show more content…
Being comfortable in a long sleeve shirt and shorts and riding around in my jeep make the weather of cross country season better than that of any other season. The feeling of having a second family, my team, during this time of year adds to the excellence of the season. Accomplishing our goals we set at the beginning of the season and winning a state championship is an incomparable sensation that I have only experienced during cross country season. All these factors combine to give me a happiness with life, and happiness is truly what makes cross country season my favorite time of the
I have always loved sports and the competitiveness that comes along with them. In so doing, I have decided to eventually become either a high school or college coach at some point in my life. Subsequently, I decided to interview the Vilonia High School Cross Country Coach, Coach Sisson. As I walked into her office, I instantly noticed all of the trophies and team photos from all of the past years of coaching. She is also the school nurse so her office has first aid equipment intermingled into the trophies and team pictures. While I set up my notes and questions for the interview on one of the desks in her office, she was finishing up a diagnosis of one of the high school students who felt sick. After her patient left, I quickly started the interview in order to waste no time. She began with how she got involved in coaching. The Vilonia School District expressed their interest to her as being the next cross country coach several years ago. She was widely known for her passion for running and she gratefully accepted the position and has been a coach for numerous years now.
I am now officially in my Senior year of Cross Country , and am close to the end of my season. My first race of this year though was a big accomplishment for me, because I hadn`t been able to run. When I ran that race though it made me just so happy I was able to finish it, I was`nt happy with the time, but there is always time for improvement. I was glad to be racing again and being apart of the team again. I believe that my injuries were a barrier in my way, but they did not stop my sports career.
“Being in such an intense sport, surrounded by people in the same boat as me, has really brought me closer to my team. We get to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.” They push her to become the best gymnast she can be; she describes her team as a family. They cheer each other on and are the biggest support system to make her better. Being around the same group of people nearly every day through their struggles and successes has really brought the athletes of the Classic closer together.
At 6pm on a Saturday evening, Sally and her parents were on their way to go skiing for their 20th time. The whole family was extremely excited and looking forward to this, especially since the place was somewhere they’d never been to before. As they were in the car, Sally was daydreaming about what the place would look like, and wondered if her worst fear would be there: ski lifts. Everything about this scared her. The car is out in the open, has no roof, and the ride could malfunction at any time. Since this unanswered question was on her mind now, she decided to ask her parents to see if they knew. “I’m just wondering, do either of you know if there are going to be ski lifts at the place?” Both of her parents paused in confusion but didn’t
I am a runner. I was selected to be a cross country captain for my senior year and I had set myself a realistic goal of being one of the top five finishers at the state meet in the fall. I never had the thought that I could not do it; I knew I was going to be up there with the best. When the state meet came and I traveled with the team as captain, that race became one of the most memorable of my cross country career but not for the reasons I expected.
The third reason I love West Virginia is because we are blessed with a variety of seasons. These beautiful seasons include; spring, summer, fall, and winter. In the spring I love to watch nature as life renews itself all around me. In the summer I love the warm weather as I take a dip in the calm lake. During the fall I love to watch the leaves change colors as I walk through the woods.
Fall is the best season of all. Fall is the only season where the leaves change to a lot of different colors. It is not too hot like summer. Snakes start to go into hiding. I love that the most, because I get to go hiking through the woods.
Cross country and track to an outsider, they can only be seen as running. Well, to a student of the sport they are both so much more. Runners are gathered to both, but there are plenty of variations between the two. Although I love both of these sports, if I had to side with one, I would choose track. These can commonly be seen in training, races, and people.
My senior baseball season wouldn’t have been the same if it wasn’t for the kids I had around me. All of my closest friends were on the baseball team which makes it easy to see why it was my favorite season. Win or lose we were the most tight knit group of guys you could come across. Not only were we very close friends but
stood upon, was frightening. The only was to go was down. I took a deep
My sophomore year had begun and I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to do track this year. Last year I played football in the fall and soccer in the spring. Not really enjoying it, the decision was made to play " real futbol" (soccer) in the fall, leaving the spring sports season open. My friend kept telling me how fun track was, so I decided to give it a try.
Warm sand, cool water, tanning at the beach, these are all things we love about summer, and quite frankly what we expect. Imagine my disappointment when my summer was the exact opposite. This past summer I decided was going to be my most productive summer yet. However I would soon come to see that it was by far the most stressful and heartbreaking summer I have ever had.
In my opinion, winter is the best season. First winter is beautiful, there’s a lot snow in winter, it’s very nice when they fall very slowly. Secondly, Christmas and New Year is coming in winter, so you can do many stuff about the holiday, and most stores will be discounting. Winter is fun either, you can play with snow like snow fighting and build a snowman! Also, you can do some winter sports. That’s why I think winter is the best
There is a variety of sports in the world. Some sports are enjoyed only in particular seasons such as summer of winter. I prefer winter sports to summer sports because I am more active in the winter than in the summer. Three winter sports I love are skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating.
My favorite season of the year is summer because of the warm weather, the school vacation, and the endless fun. I really enjoy the warm weather because it’s the perfect atmosphere to do outdoor activities. My favorite part about summer has to be the fact that school is closed for two months. During summer, you’re free to do whatever you want, not worrying about curfew or waking up early for school. Summer time is a great time to relax with friends and family by soaking up the sun at a beach or simply having dinner together.
