All About my first time showing cows!! For the first time in life I walked to my dad’s truck and hooked up the cow trail to the truck and it all began. After I hooked up the truck and trailer I drove it to wear my cows were at in the pasture, I caught them and loaded them one by one in the trailer. And we was off to Abbeville for my first cow show. I was scared I was only 10 and wasn't really good at it so I was talking to my dad so fast because I was scared. My dad was trying to claim me down but it wasn't working. Than we was pulling up to the show and I saw all theses people and freaked out, and started crying. Now we get everything we need out the trailer and the fun starts. I have to wash my cows so they will be clean, being I didn't really know what to do I was spring everyone with the water hose. Than I had to blow dry them so that they wouldn’t get sick, or get dirty. Needless to say that was a big fail so my mom helped me. After that was done I feed them and gave them water and tied them down so they lay down for the night. And it was my birthday so I went eat out with a branch one people my cake was good to. …show more content…
So we get their and I get my cows ready I feed, water, and hay. I tie them up and blow them off I put their show healther on. And the are making me eat because i'm about to past out because it is like 3:30pm now and I still never ate. It’s finally time to show and i'm so scared I was about to pee on myself but I could not go because I had to go show. So I go in the ring to show and they have a lot of older people so I am even more scared, but I get my cow how everyone else is and try my best not to look
They were all really surprised when i came past riding the devil’s daughter. I felt really proud because very few of our ranchers ever saddled her. The other ranchers were really impressed and so was I that I saddled her.
I took a deep breath as I walked my horse into the Greeley Stampede Arena. I told myself just to "relax." I loped a circle around the arena to make sure that my horse was warmed up and ready to go. He was ready but I was starting to get nervous. I stopped in front of the roping box to put my piggin' string in my mouth. I looked at my calf in the chute to make sure that it was number 33, which was one of the best calves out of the whole set. It was, and I was ready to ride into the box and rope my calf, or attempt to rope my calf. I began to get more nervous, more nervous than I ever had been at a rodeo.
all 10 of my family members to go, so I spent the birthday at home.
Papa was already ready, and we started to go into the wagon. When we started to move I was so excited. The ride took way longer then I thought it would so I started playing with the dirt on the wagon floor. By the time I looked up we were in Strawberry, I felt the excitement rushing up to my head. We were one of the first wagons there so we were in the front.
The hot sun was eating away at my back. I stayed in line for about an hour, but I knew it would be worth it. When I finally got in, I looked for the closest seat to the stage. I spotted one that was five rows away from the stage. I ran as fast as I could and sat right in it.
Today was my sister's birthday! We went to Animal Kingdom, Which had a really fun ride called The Legend Of The Forbidden Mountain, where you go up the coaster normally and drop backwards. I screamed really loud! After a while, we got lunch. We went to a restaurant in the park, where I had the best grilled cheese of my life. We spent a few more hours at the park and left at dinner time. That night, we had dinner at a really nice restaurant. I got steak and mashed potatoes and we left after eating for about an hour and went back to our resort. When we got back we went to our cousin's room and watched
It was the beginning of the show. I was so nervous. It was as if there was a thousand eyes just staring at you. Of course it’s not my part yet. I didn’t even know why I was freaking out. I didn’t say anything, I just had to sit in a chair
It was a nice summer day when my grandma Ellie decided to get a guard dog because there were wolves. They kept on getting closer every night and she didn't want them to be at the house when I was just 4 years old. My grandpa was trucking at the time, so he was not home when it got to be dark. So my grandma to tell my grandpa that we need a guard dog or something so the wolves would not come to the house.
Some people think of them as animals. Some people think of them as objects. Some people think of them as friends. Then there are the few who think of them as family. Horses have always been like family to humans, except sometimes closer. There are many benefits to owning or being around horses. They come in many different colors. There is a multitude of breeds, also. Additionally, they have a long history with humans. Horses have unique behaviors. Showing horses has been the past-time or even career of many people. Furthermore, caring for horses can be a handful, but is definitely rewarding. Finally, riding horses is not just a hobby or a sport, but an action of your heart. Horses are wondrous creatures that have lived with man or thousands of years.
Most cow lovers need not worry about any of this. Their cows have become welcome household pets. They have put down their steak knives and decided to dine with them, not on them. Such docile animals have now become a part of the family, and owning but a few cows has eased the problem of naming a vast herd of cattle.
I am jarred out of a relaxing sleep by a voice yelling my name in a loud whisper, and a light burning through my eyelids. Groggily, I open my eyes to see my father standing in the doorway to my messy room. He tells me that I need to get going, that it is 3:00 a.m., and I'm burning daylight. I find my clothes and get dressed. The whole time I wonder why I get up this early to visit the rugged outdoors. I want to go back to bed, but I know my dad will be back in to make sure I am getting ready, in a little bit. Instead, I put my boots and my wide-brimmed, black cowboy hat on, and walked out to catch the horses. The horses are all excited because it is dark and they are not that cooperative. My dad and I get them saddled and in the trailer, and go back into the house to get our lunch, water, and a cup of coffee. Now, we can head for the high country.
My dog can be a handful at times. But that doesn’t mean you can’t like him because of the way he is.
I was born and spent most of my life before I turned 11 in northern Illinois. In the month after I turned 11, my family moved to North Carolina. My mother is from the mountains of southwestern Virginia and my father speaks English as a second language. I learned to speak and formed most of my vocabulary while living in Illinois but my time in the South has also influenced the way I speak. As I spend time with my grandparents both in Japan and in Virginia, my syntax and cadence change as well as the words I use, creating a unique accent that fits many places yet nowhere. I call a group of people “guys” even when females are present, but I use the term interchangeably with “y’all”. I say yes ma’am and no sir, I use a very slight case of Japan-glish,
Maybe it was a presentation at work or school. Perhaps at a town meeting where you really wanted to say something on a particular topic but felt paralyzed to get up there. Maybe you were the “Best Man” or “Bridesmaid” at a friend’s wedding. I remember the very first time for me like it was yesterday. I was 11 years old. Following a long year of accordion lessons our music school had a “recital”. Each of the students had to perform one piece they had been practicing. I was never more scared in my life. I actually felt weak in the knees as my turn came. In the end what got me through was a kindly lady who sat in the front row and looked up smiling at me. I riveted my gaze on her and somehow made it through. I will never forget that afternoon, or the power of a
It was a day of eager anticipation. It was a day of last-minute planning. It was the day before my fourteenth birthday. I had been looking forward to the party for at least two months. Everything was accounted for: balloons, Super Soakers, and music. There would be a barbeque of magnificent proportions. Miraculously, everyone had read the RSVP deadline and called in a week ahead of schedule. An enormous ice cream cake was to be delivered with eight large pepperoni pizzas. Needless to say, I was excited. It was to be my first party at our new house. I helped cook the enormous array of snack foods. I eventually surrendered to the temptation and stole a few strips of marinated steak when my mom wasn't looking. I had gone to bed that night with dreams of family, friends, and possibly a new stereo system.
