Getting pulled over Late at night my cousin was driving with me and my brother coming home from the store, we were driving on the highway listening to music the radio was really loud my cousin couldn't hear what I was saying, my cousin likes to drive really fast I’m sure all of you know what the speed limit is on the highway and since she was driving she didn’t realize she was going over the speed limit and it was dark outside. I said to my cousin “Slow down a little bit” because she was going to fast and during this time i was young and I use to get scared when people drove really fast, as we were driving I was getting nervous and scared and I kept looking behind us to make sure there was no cops, as I looked out the ride side window of the car I saw this black car the windows were tinted and I couldn’t really tell who it was but something told me it was the cops so I yelled to my cousin “SLOW DOWN I …show more content…
she just kept going next thing you know that black car got behind us and boom immediately I saw the blue and red lights, I said in my head oh no, after she finally slowed down and turned the music off I said to her “see you should've listen to me” and that night we ended up driving home with a ticket. All three of us were trying to think of ways to pay the ticket and none of use had jobs at that time because we were all in school and on top of that all this happened while my grandparents were out of town for two weeks. We couldn't find anyone to help we could've went back to detroit but we were already like 1 hour and 30 minutes away and my cousin didn't feel like driving all the way back so we had to wait until our
Drinking & Driving: The Toll, The Tears is a documentary film that was produced in 1986. It painfully shows the everlasting effects alcohol-related car accidents have on the victim(s) and the impaired driver. Many stories were shared throughout the documentary, but the one person who left the biggest impression on me was without a doubt, Roxanne White. Roxanne White was sleep deprived and driving under the influence when she hit a car with a mother, son, and her two daughters. Sadly, both of the daughters were killed in this accident. White suffered multiple facial fractures, and multiple teeth were knocked out of her mouth. She was charged with a DUI, later, convicted of two accounts of homicide, and was subsequently thrown into jail.
It was on a burning summer Sunday morning the day I received my initial traffic citation. My best friend and I got this crazy plan the afternoon before it all occurred .We determined that instead of going swimming at the recreational local pool of Tallahassee, we ought to head on in a journey to Panama City beach to enjoy the last week of summer that was left for us. The only problem is that it was 6:00 pm and by the time we arrived at the beach the sun would be hiding in the orient.
Over the last several years the dangers of driving while intoxicated have increased and have become a serious threat to this nation. Although, men are considered the main perpetrators of DUIs recently women, young adults, and even teenagers have been pulled over and arrested for being intoxicated while operating a vehicle. Many groups and organizations have been formed in an attempt to keep drunk drivers off the roads. Laws have been passed and are constantly changing in an attempt to cut down the number of DUIs and deaths. With new technology in production and automakers adding more safety features to their cars the war against drunken driving is still going on. Therefore, as a result of the increase due to drinking and driving, it is essential that tougher laws are enacted.
I love soccer, I have played the sport for as long as I remember. I and my cousin headed outside of the restaurant to play soccer, my cousin passed me the ball and as I was going to kick it back to him, I wanted to show him how hard I could kick the ball, but me, as a little boy, had no control, and the ball ended up going to the other side of the street. Cousin looked right and left of the street and said with a high tone, “Go get the ball-hurry.” As soon as I heard him. I ran crossing the street and got the ball. Then cousin said, “Wait there,” he started to look right and left
My mom, my sister, and I lifted my brother into the car. He felt as if he had eaten a ton of bricks. The towels were thrown into the car with haste. Then the car door slammed shut and off they dove to the hospital. The hospital is about 20 minutes away, 30 minutes with traffic. Since no one else went to the hospital with my mom we just have to take my brothers word that my mom sped. My mom said that all of a sudden he came out of shock. He started screaming louder and tried to make sense of what was happening. When they arrived at the hospital they were rushed to a room. The nurses cut off his blood soaked pants. They threw his shirt in a bag to get washed. the whole time my mom was gone with my brother my siblings and I prayed and talked. We had never had someone in our immediate family get this badly injured since my dad’s accident which was when my sister was just born and I (the oldest) was just a baby. My great-grandma and great-aunt were dead but other than that I haven’t really experienced much death. We knew he wouldn’t die but in the moment it seemed like anything could
As I walked out of the courthouse and down the ramp, I looked at my mom in disappointment and embarrassment. Never wanting to return to that dreadful place, I slowly drug my feet back to the car. I wanted to curl up in a little ball and I didn't want anyone else to know what I had done. Gaining my composure, I finally got into the car. I didn't even want to hear what my mom had to say. My face was beat red and I was trying to hide my face in the palms of my hands because I knew what was about to come; she was going to start asking me questions, all of the questions I had been asking myself. Sure enough, after a short period of being in the car, the questions began.
I was asleep in the middle of the night when I herd a sound coming from outside of my house I woke up and I ran to my brother's room, he was sleeping in the bed with his girlfriend, I woke him up and said that I had herd a sounds outside the door, he said: "be quiet, do not make a sound", I did as he said and then I saw that he took a gun out from the madras, then he walked to the door and started to listen to the door then he saw out of the window and saw three guys one was in a car and two that was robbing his car, he was so mad that he kicked down the door and started shooting, he got one of them then he started to shoot at the car, he didn't hit the one inside but he did hit the other guy that was running away, he dragged him to the sidewalk and said: "open your mouth and put it on the curve", he did as my brother told him to do, the man was shaking by fear, then my brother started to scream and started kicking his head, he kicked his head so hard that he broke his neck and jaw, the man died instantly, then my brother saw the police and he just starred at me, he started walking towards the cops, they said: "don't move, put your hands behind your head and get down on your knees", my brother did as they said, he was thrown in jail for two years
My friend Lina has son a twelve-year-old boy named Bradley. He and his friend Chris were walking from a birthday party only a couple of blocks from Bradley’s home. As they crossed the street, Bradley heard a loud roaring sound coming very quickly towards them. The sound of the roar was a car that was swerving as it began to come faster towards them. The car lights were turned off, so they didn’t notice the car until it got really close to them. They tried to run as quickly as they could, but the car was much faster than them. Chris managed to get off the street, and as he looked back, they saw the car driving towards Bradley. Chris was taken to the hospital, and unfortunately was paralyzed from the neck and Bradley died two days later from the forceful impact of the vehicle that dragged him for one mile. All this was the result of drunk driving.
With music blasting, voices singing and talking, it was another typical ride to school with my sister. Because of our belated departure, I went fast, too fast. We started down the first road to our destination. This road is about three miles long and filled with little hills. As we broke the top of one of the small, blind hills in the middle of the right lane was a dead deer. Without any thought, purely by instinct I pulled the wheel of the car to the left and back over to the right. No big deal but I was going fast. The car swerved back to the left, to the right, to the left. Each time I could feel the car scratching the earth with its side. My body jolted with the sporadic movements of the car. The car swerved to the right for the last time. With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off the seat of the car.
Is the United States actually the tremendous country everyone portrays it to be? In America, nearly one individual is killed or injured in a DUI related accident every thirty minutes (“Drunk”). While every forty minutes an innocent victim is killed by an intoxicated driver. In comparison to other countries around the world the United States was ranked the eighth most dangerous country for drivers in 2007 (“Atal”). Many do not know the life threatening results that may occur when they have been drinking and then choose to drive. Individuals say that driving under the influence will be a one time deal, but in reality this habit will continue to take effect. In the words of Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald “First you take a drink, then the drink takes
When we got to my grandpa’s house, we jumped out of the car and took out one mortar shell to shoot off. Now, I don’t know what the odds of this happening are, but, right when we shot off the mortar shell, A COP DROVE RIGHT BY THE CUL DE SAC AND PULLED IN WITH HIS LIGHTS ON!!! My uncle Joe told Cole and I to go inside. Being 10 years old, I was a little more curious to what was going on outside with both my uncles and grandpa. I looked outside and was horrified. The officer was taking our fireworks and putting them into the back of the cop car. It seemed that the 4th of July that year was over. However, Joe was talking to the officer and drawing attention away from Justin and my grandpa. While Joe was talking to the officer my grandpa and uncle Justin was throwing all of the fireworks that was in the back of our car under the car and hiding them
I could hear my mom talking to a strange man which later I found out it was a cop. My uncle came into the house and told me to go play in my room for a while. I asked him about
Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about a quarter of those crashes involved an underage drinking driver ("Mokeyane, Nola K."). Drunk driving can lead to terrible accidents like killing someone, losing your own life, imprisonment, criminal records, legal costs, increased insurance costs and living with guilt that you injured or caused an accident and then that can eventually lead to depression ("Drinking and Driving."). When drinking you lose judgement and many times you do things that you normally would not do sober. Drunk drivers are very dangerous on the road and they can easily hurt an innocent person or even hurt themselves ("Teenage Drinking."). Drunk driving can also cost a lot it can cost you attorney fees, bail
As a child, I used to wonder why my mother was always hesitant to let me be outside when the night came and why my dad always wanted me to wear light (visible) clothing. It was until one night, where I had a pretty scary encounter with an officer on my way back home that things started to make sense. You see I was out with my friends pretending to be warriors on an epic adventure and I lost track of time. Once I realized I was late, I began rushing home and my friends following behind and this soon became a race. As we approached my friends house (I lived about another block down) he caught up to me and began to wrestle me for first place. When I got the upper hand, a cop pulled up got out of his car and told me to freeze. I froze and the cop asked my friend if he was okay and if I did anything to him ( I forgot to mention my friend wasn't a person of color). "No way" I said speaking for my friend, then the cop told me to shut up while putting his hand on his holstered weapon. Luckily, my friend's father came out and handled the issue, he walked me home and explained what happened to my parents. The look of fear on my mother's face and anger on my father's face was one I have never seen before, and when my friend's dad left they turned to me and scolded me, but it all made sense.
Last year I got involved in a massive car accident. It was the most terrified part of life. It was the moment. I will never forget in my whole life. Before, I never realized how people really feel when a car accident happens. But,after this car accident I know what really it felt like. It was the moment. My mind was totally feared of driving. I was crushed by the hot metal and cold dirt of car. I was not feeling my arm,my body was numbed. It was felt like my lower body pressed down with monster force. All I could feel was the noise of car accident ringing in my ear.I was barely able to move my body. I was kept thinking. What my parents going to think about this? Where is my friend John? I looked through the window and saw the cars passing by
