Bad Things Happen to Bad People
How many times have you just finished washing your car and, while you are driving down the highway all you hear is PLOP followed by juicy, white feces splattered on your windshield. Or how furious does one get when a pile of Miss FooFoo’s dog crap that your neighbor neglected to pick up a couple of hours ago encompasses your shirt and Levis jeans, while mowing the front yard. I know that I get royally upset when I see bird bombs on my car after I just finished washing it a few hours ago, or when I step in a fresh pile of Miss FooFoo’s poo poo! But who ever puts themselves in the animal’s point of view? Who ever thinks about the fact that we are paving over all the land and cutting down all the trees that provide oxygen for our lungs and homes for the aviators? Let me tell you what, if I was a bird, I would crap all over your shiny car!
Many times I have stopped and yelled at people who are driving in my car when they are about to throw things out of the window. I don’t hate, because that is an extremely powerful word, but I do despise the fact that people don’t have a problem with throwing their garbage wherever they please. Just because you finished eating your triple quarter-pounder with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and extra mayonnaise thirty seconds ago from whatever atherosclerosis causing grease pit, doesn’t mean you can take your filthy napkin and paper bag and toss it out the window like your John Elway! It seems like the majority of humankind either does not care or does not realize that the trash is either going to sit there on the side of the road or is going to be picked up by some nature nurturing chump like myself. It is absolutely horrible that people litter the land with Styrofoam cups, plastic glasses, and beer bottles that would take centuries to degrade.
Mothers and fathers are forever talking about how they want their children to have it better than they did, and how they want to give their children everything within their power. But yet these ignorant individuals continuously dispose of their trash wherever and whenever they want. By the time my children are of age to realize how absolutely disgusting the world is where mankind has placed his disease ridden feet upon the soil, it will be too late.
...oken found in Abydos with the hieroglyph for “mn” found alongside Menes’ appearance which strongly suggests that the otherwise mythical king was in fact a real identity. Another widespread belief is that Narmer only began the process of unifying Upper and Lower Egypt, with Menes completing the rest. Finally, there are those who believe that Narmer merely inherited a unified Egypt, possibly accomplished by King Scorpion and was just using symbols that had become commonplace a generation earlier. However, mud sealings listing the order of the First Dynasty kings have been uncovered which list Narmer as the founder of this Period. This combined with the fact that Menes does not appear on the list at all yet it lists the other seven in the correct order adds a great deal of credibility to the Menes/Narmer theory, postulating that Menes was simply a personal name of his.
The Korean War, also known as the forgotten war , was one of the most brutal and violent wars of the 20th century. Less than five million people died during this war. My grandfather, Herbert Victor Sapper, was drafted during the time of the Korean War, but, he wasn’t sent to Korea, he was sent to Japan. Since my grandfather passed away in 1995, I gathered all of my information about my grandfather from my grandmother, Lelia Bell Sapper. Here is their story.
By having school board meetings, it helps to see what the school’s needs. This is very important for the reason that this may be the only time that a concern parent or person voice might be heard. From this meeting, it was learned that the school board members are willing to help people that have concerns. An example, of this, was when the concern Pre-K parent was worried that she heard that Pre-K has been just a daycare. However, someone from the board mentioned to her that she would personally go with the parent the next day and show her how Pre-K is running during the day. This made the parent so happy because her concerns were being met. I have learned that school board members look out for the students and that they are the number one source that community members should go to if they have a concern or a suggestion to better their children’s
...herefore, in order to solve the security issues and maintain the regional peacefully, the U.S. and China has to cooperate rather than compete with each other.
Brave New World is an unsettling, loveless and even sinister place. This is because Huxley endows his "ideal" society with features calculated to alienate his audience. Typically, reading Brave New World elicits the very same disturbing feelings in the reader which the society it depicts has notionally vanquished - not a sense of joyful anticipation. Huxley's novel presents a startling view of the future which on the surface appears almost comical. His intent, however, is not humor. Huxley's message is dark and depressing. His idea that in centuries to come, a one-world government will rise to power, stripping people's freedom, is not a new idea. What makes Huxley's interpretation different is the fact that his fictional society not only lives in a totalitarian government, but takes an embracive approach like mindless robots. For example, Soma, not nuclear bombs, is the weapon of choice for the World Controllers in Brave New World. The world leaders have realized that fear and intimidation have only limited power; these tactics simply build up resentment in the minds of the oppressed. Subconscious persuasion and mind-altering drugs, on the other hand, appear to have no side effects.
Traditionally King Menes is known as the Unifier. (Mertz 33) While he is only talked about in stories he still could be the famed Unifier. One example is that Pharaohs often had multiple names that they are referred by. It would not be uncommon for Pharaoh Narmer to also be Pharaoh Menes. The problem with this theory is there is another individual in question, Aha. Before the discovery of the Palette of Narmer Pharaoh Aha’s tomb was found. In his tomb there were two names used; Men and Aha. Archaeologist believe Aha was his Horus name, the name of the Pharaoh. Men, assumed to be Menes, was his Nebti name. Nebti, meaning the two ladies, is most likely used for the Pharaoh of both Upper and Lower Egypt which makes since considering Menes is the fabled Unifier. (Mertz 34, 35) Since both names were used to refer to Pharaoh Aha he may be the true Unifier of the two lands. Since this is all speculation historians have come up with many different explanations for these three names. The simplest is that all three names could be one person. (Mertz 34) One person and one war. This wouldn’t be too strange because, as stated before, Pharaohs often had many names. There’s also the possibility that Aha and Memes are the same person, the true Unifier, and Narmer’s Palette was merely a form of propaganda and not a historically accurate
There is a great deal of evidence that supports the idea that we, in the twenty first century, are headed toward the society described by Huxley in Brave New World. Such things as advances in technology, government yearning for complete control, and an uncontrollable world population are many of the reasons Huxley’s world might become our own.
If everyone recycled think of how much more space there would be in landfills across the world. There is only so much room on this earth and we are using a huge portion of it for our trash. Clearlake, California alone on a busy day can bring in 80,000 pounds of trash to the local dump. I know this because I work at the local dump in Mckinleyville. I also see a lot of people that throw away their recycling for the simple reason of being too lazy to sort it. I watch bag after of bag of plastic, aluminum, and glass get thrown into the bin which we haul straight to a landfill in Anderson, California. If everyone in Mckinleyville recycled there plastic, aluminum and glass they could save thousands of pounds a day from going to the landfill. I think people are not informed that waste is a big problem in this world. But in fact conservation is an issue, and resources and energy aren't too plentiful. Someday these resources are going to run out. But the more we recycle the longer we can make these resources last.
Imagine living in a society where there is no such thing as mothers or fathers, where you look exactly like the 500 people standing next to you, where casual sex and drug use is not only allowed, but is encouraged. Well, the society in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, is just that. While the prophecies from the Brave New World society are quite different from those of today, they can be argued as both right and wrong, but , and the technology to make them happen may be just around the corner.
In today’s world, “the U.S. manages to produce a quarter of the world’s waste despite the fact that its population of 300 million is less than 5% of the world’s population, according to 2005 estimates (Malone).” In other words, countries like China and India, which represent 37 percent of the world’s population combined, produce less waste than the United States alone. Many people believe that just by throwing away trash in each correct bin will help the recycling process. Almost every city in Los Angeles County has a different trash bin for different usage i.e. greenery, plastic, and cardboard. These trash bins are extremely effective when it comes to recycling plastic, however what happens after the bin has been collected is more important.
Recycling should be a well-known phenomenon by now, right? In my community, homeowners are given a recycling bin and it is surprising to me how few actually take advantage of it. As I am driving down the street in my neighborhood, I often times see more trash bins than recycling bins on trash pick up day. I am appalled at the fact that many people fail to recycle and instead throw away items in garbage bins. One solution to this issue could be for Americans to become more aware of what they are buying and be sure not to buy goods they will not use or consume. "Average household credit card debt topped the landmark of $10,000 in 2006." (69) Most goods that were bought that year were thrown away just a few years later, which is a horrific statement. By purchasing only goods that are needed and paying closer attention to recycling, the landfills that cover America could be greatly reduced. Most individuals are not aware of what happens to their garbage, or they simply do not care where it ends up. I will admit that even I do not give much thought as to where my garbage ends up, but I do my best to recycle, as well as most of my friends and family. A large quantity of the garbage thrown into landfills escapes and ends up in oceans— especially plastic bags—but it could also be pieces of plastic, glass, and so
Have you ever wonder what can you do about the bottles and cans you find around you? People that doesn?t care about the world being clean is littering the place. It makes things very difficult to put up for. Recycling cans and bottles can help save the earth form waste and trash buildup and can make new things. I think that recycling should be mandatory and there should be recycling cans in various locations at school and everywhere else.
First off, the average American only walks a few steps before dumping their trash on the ground without even searching for a garbage can. For example, all it takes is for some trash in the road and it is a car accident waiting to happen. Whether it is because somebody drove their tiny
While walking through the park last Sunday, I observed a shocking scene. There were two cans: one for recycling and one for trash. The recycling receptacle had only an empty Dr. Pepper can and a few used Ozarka water bottles. On the other hand, the trash can had a plethora of half eaten meals, wrappers, banana peels and disgustingly even bottles, cans, newspapers and plastics that could have been recycled. Because people do not understand or do not care to understand about conserving our resources, many reusable items are being put in landfills when recycling these items could help save the environment. People should know the negative impact of throwing away a water bottle or newspaper, purchasing meat from the grocery store or consuming gasoline has on the environment, and many do not. By informing society about how their decisions affect the environment, we can help save our planet and change our attitude toward the land we live on, the water we drink and the air we breathe” and truly show respect for the stuff that we depend on.
It was dark that night, I was nervous that this dreadful day was going to get worse. Sunday, October 23, 1998 I wanted to start writing this to tell about the weird things i’m starting to see in this new neighborhood. Gradually I keep seeing pots and pans on the sink suddenly move to the floor. I would ask my sister but she is out with my mom and dad getting the Halloween costumes. When they got home I didn’t tell them what I saw because i've seen Halloween movies and I have to have dissimulation otherwise the ghost will come out and get me first. October 24, 1998 I think I got a little nervous yesterday with the whole ghost thing. 12:32pm, Went to eat lunch with the family today and I go to get my coat. I heard the words furious and madness,
