Three seconds left on the clock, ball is in my hands, down by one. A deep three pointer for the win. Game. What three things can make this ordinary every day person into a champion amongst everyone else? A competitive nature, a never give up attitude, and hubris towards what they do. These three traits are the building blocks of the attitude I take towards tasks in my way. I constantly strive to better not only myself but the people around me.
My personal favorite of the three is my never give up attitude. I do not allow anything to disturb my mindset of completing what is in front of me, I will do anything and everything to get what I want, the way I want. I am never afraid to take on the biggest and hardest of situations. I best display this in the game I love most, basketball. I've been in multiple situations where the light and glory of winning was starting to dim and become near unreachable. Without the never give up motive I wouldn't have hit a game winning three pointer as time expired. I wouldn't have hit two clutch three pointers in the final minute of a game to steal a game we might not have deserved. I never would've

These purposes being to better myself, to better the people around me, and just for fun. I am the type of person to make everything into a competition because I want to the best at everything, no matter what it is. From who does something the fastest, to "I guarantee I make this shot before you do." This motivates me and the person I am competing with to better ourselves just for the satisfaction of being better than the other. I am also very skillful when it comes to being competitive because of two beautiful words that are like music to my ears. Trash talk. Knowing what ticks off a person to get off their game and intimidate the people you play against. It makes my job a hell of a lot easier. I thank my father for teaching me this method for it has helped on multiple
Three of my best traits would be my humor, my dedication, and my passion. My first trait, my humor, I get told that my humor is unique or just really funny. My humor has helped me get past problems and help my friends in their time of need. My dedication is strong, especially in band. I have put countless hours of practice into my instrument, and it pays off. I love when you dedicate yourself to something, and after a while, you become really good at it. My passion is a big one. I have so much passion in helping others, though
There are people who are not as motivated, they are often referred to as the underachievers. However, once they have someone to compete with, they are more likely to become motivated to improve and excel. This is where competition serves as a healthy motivator. There is a friend who was exhausted of being constantly compared to his overachieving older brother. This caused him to start studying and working harder in order to become just as good as his brother. The situation showed how he did not need to bring down his older brother in order to be just as successful. Competition serves its purpose, when one finds themselves competing with themselves instead of their competitor. When one is competing with themselves, they are allowing themselves to grow and improve to become a better person. They do not have to compete with someone else, nor degrade others success in order to make their achievements seem exceptional.
A characteristic I chose was generosity. I chose this because it's super important to my mom and dads families. We lived in a community where giving is greater than keeping for ourself. My family has passed down generation's by generation to give away the first thing they ever make for the first time away to someone. Now they give away anything to people new to old or foods clothes and anything to anybody.
My favorite love your people trait out of them all is encourage. I think encouragement is the best thing you can give to someone. All of the LYP traits are very important to your character. People don't function well without kindness. Even a little bit of love can get someone through the day. After all, if you don't live the eight, what do you live?
Back then, I could rarely beat that one friend I would constantly play with. Regardless, I never gave up. Even though losing is frustrating, it is what drives me to practice even more so that I can improve. Perseverance is a special trait because it was what kept me from giving up, and because of it, I have long since surpassed my friend. Currently, that perseverance has carried over to the tournaments that I enter. Even if I lose, I choose to get back up, keep playing, and try again. I have the determination and desire to defeat the players who are ranked above me. When I finally beat them, or win the tournament, the satisfaction from proving myself is the best reward I could ever receive. I am currently ranked sixth in Hawaii, and it was because of my perseverance that I was able to achieve that. Perseverance is what allows me to not give up, and to keep looking forward.
Michael Jordan once said “I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win”. This have help people of all ages get through their burdens and do something they love instead of doing some negative. For many people basketball has become more than a game, it’s the way of life. The American game of basketball has traveled now, it’s played by more than 250 million people worldwide.
Personally I am certain my strongest personality trait is my support. I am a very supportive person, particularly toward those I care most about but also to people I know that have a goal
These traits are a person's character.
I believe in never giving up or quitting, when it comes to sports. To me I believe that if you give up or quit something like sports you will also give up or quit whenever you don’t like a job or task that is given to you. This idea has been instilled in me my whole life by my parents, they always told me to never give up or quit even when things didn’t go right with coaches, or games, or injuries. There was a time during my freshman year of basketball that it was really hard not to give up or quit. That year I had a coach say some not nice things to a couple of players because they had to do a yearbook dedication ceremony after our game that night and weren’t in the locker room after the game.
A leader should focus on the strengthening each of these traits as opposed to solely focusing on one of the traits individually. Personally, I feel that I my courage is one of my stronger traits. Courage is defined as the ability to do something that frightens oneself. I made this realization during my time at Career Orientation Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID) East. There were many events that I experienced during CORTRAMID, but none challenged me more than going through the gas chamber at Camp Lejeune during Marine Week.
Empathy, Developer, Futuristic, Achiever, and Restorative, these traits represent my top five strengths. As an empathetic person I am able to sense how people are feeling. So much so that I am able to feel what they feel. By this, I am able to help people feel buoyant about their situations. Not only am I able to put myself in another person’s shoes, but because of this I can act when others behave in a way that unhealthy for themselves or others. This strength can help me achieve success as a nurse because it allows me to have a desire to help people. I will also be able to put myself in the lives of my patients and attempt to understand what they are truly going through. Empathy overall is fitting for a nurse, however, there may be times it becomes a challenge. It is possible for me to over empathize. I may have time where I truly do feel what the patient or their family feels and that may bring me down. Nurses need to be able to put aside the sadness they may feel over a patient or their families and be strong. As a developer I am able to see potential in others. Due to this strength, I often speak words of encouragement and try not to bring others down. I am able to acknowledge individual’s opinions and take their suggestions into consideration. I do not like attention drawn to myself, instead I rejoice in the accomplishments of others. I believe that by sharing information, resources, talents, and time I am able to grow as a person and professional. As a nurse, this strength is admirable because nursing requires teamwork. To work as a team, it is important to encourage each other and learn from one another. Having this strength as a developer benefits my abilities when working as a team. Being futuristic allows me to look into the future and envision what it may hold. Because of this strength I constantly think about what I can fix or improve. I am often thinking about what I can achieve in the future. I tend to think of short term plans to work towards my
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
We look up to the rich and the successful people and think that they are smart and everything and want to be like them, but in reality, they’re just like us, humans. They have struggled through many challenges until they reached the position that they are in today and they built these three character traits so they can fight for what they want. To be successful in life, you have to show these three character traits every day in your life in order to achieve your goals. These characteristics define who we are as a person.
I am by myself wearing my blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. It is cool outside but I decided to leave my gloves at home, feeling comfortable with my warm shirt and my sturdy boots.
These various characteristics help to avoid some avoidable mistakes that can be unforeseen. I have quite some strengths that has helped me so far in my nursing career and has also helped me to be one of the best nurses around. Braveness is one important strength that I have that has helped me in my nursing career. Braveness has propelled me to be able to accept any challenges and to be able to face it in my nursing practice. I am not afraid to explore different areas in nursing due to this distinctive strength that I possess. The strength has also helped me in furthering my education without fear of failing in my chosen
