A characteristic I chose was generosity. I chose this because it's super important to my mom and dads families. We lived in a community where giving is greater than keeping for ourself. My family has passed down generation's by generation to give away the first thing they ever make for the first time away to someone. Now they give away anything to people new to old or foods clothes and anything to anybody. Generosity is also a great importance to the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiians care for every before they care for themselves. But not only horticulturist generous, a lot of other cultures are generous. I just think the horns are more generous. But that's my own
opinion.
The role of a kahuna in the Hawaiian culture takes on the responsibility of keeping a balance between the people and the nation. In doing so, they apply their field of expertise towards assisting the aliʻi and the makaʻāinana. In ancient Hawai’i, there were many different types of kāhuna that had a skill set that contributed or benefited the community. In this paper I will discuss the different ways a kahuna achieves this type of balance within the lāhui. These kuleana include advising the aliʻi to make pono decisions, guiding the makaʻāinana in their daily lives and practices, and taking care of the spiritual side of the Hawaiian culture and traditional practices of the people.
The Apache and Cherokee Indians, at face value, may seem as different as Native American tribes can be. They both had radically different methods of dealing with colonists and settlers in their territories, were located on opposite sides of the continent, and had vastly different ways of running their societies. Despite their differences, they were also alike in many ways, and among these likenesses was the idea of reciprocity, a chief similarity that the two groups shared.
The arrival of the missionaries in Hawaii changed the lives of the natives in huge ways that lasted forever. The introduction of western houses and culture had a big influence on Hawaii. The native Hawaiians built their houses out of grass and had very simple villages, but when the missionaries established their settlement they built more sophisticated and sturdy homes out of coral and used western architectural methods to construct buildings. The Hawaiians soon following their lead and the royalty all had western palaces for homes. This also lead to an increase in technology, such as the use of wells and water lines to store fresh water for the towns. They also began to bring in and
My favorite love your people trait out of them all is encourage. I think encouragement is the best thing you can give to someone. All of the LYP traits are very important to your character. People don't function well without kindness. Even a little bit of love can get someone through the day. After all, if you don't live the eight, what do you live?
“If all of this seems long ago and far away, it is worth remembering that the past is never past.” (Faulkner cited in Ellison, P.274)
In this assignment, I have chosen to study polygamy in the Hawaiians culture located in the Oceania region. As the eHRAF states, In the Hawaiians culture they practice both polyandry and polygyny. In the practice of polygyny, the women are typically married only to the chiefs. This type of marriage, as the eHRAF states, is not affected by the union of two family members. Although not necessarily encouraged, it is not uncommon to marry a cousin or sister. Thus, they argue, connects the family. Polyandry is hypothesized to have originated from the number of males on the islands, being relatively high in comparison to the females. Female babies were killed at birth, known as infanticide, due to the limited role they could place in "male" responsibilities.
Thinking back through history, the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was a monumental, sadening take over. The Committee of Safety or the Annexationist were at a verbal war with power of the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaii has been in the threat of annexation for a while and while some support the monarchy others despise it. For the Reciprocity Treaty to the Bayonet Constitution to the Spanish American War, all of these events lead up to the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom mostly unfairly and illegally. The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was unjustified because of the unfairness and illegalness from the opponents such as, John Stevens and the secrecy from the Committee of Safety.
A way of getting away from reality and to be fantasied, or other might refer to it as escapism, was one of the characteristics. Another one was individualism that promoted self-pride and seek the answer of why and what makes you so unique. Another one is looking to past mistakes and experiences to learn from them and become wiser. The last two relates the most to Henry Thoreau. One of this was persevering nature as a source of inspiration and the final one was to see the common men as people.
Now, first, before we even go near that question, let’s examine the history of the word ‘generosity’. The original use, which was in the 16th century, came from the Latin word generosus, meaning of noble birth. It was given only to someone who belonged to nobility, meaning that he/she was from a noble family. However, during the 17th century, the meaning began to change. From that point on, the word slowly but steadily started to become a title given to someone...
Generosity and trustworthiness are two personality traits that have a heavy correlation. There is evidence that trustworthiness can be proven to another person through acts of generosity. In the experiment described in this article, people are tested to see how trustworthy they are based on how generous they are in a given situation. The people in this experiment are given no reason to be generous, and their response will show how trustworthy they are. Ten sessions were given in which five people were recipients and five people were senders. They played a series of games that would determine how trustworthy and how generous they would be. The results were around 25 percent of the participants displayed generous traits during the games. A conclusion
The next trait I think I show the best is wiliness to learn. I love learning, as a leader you are expect to be proficient in your skill and to me that means wiliness to keep learning. A lot of great leaders always wanted to learn from either picking up books or from talking and learning from other leaders around them. As me being a young cadet right now I look up to cadre to learn from. The cadre have a lot of time in the military and have seen and experienced a lot and are willing to share this knowledge. It is up to me to take advantage and learn from them what they have learned in their
The first characteristic, a positive attitude, is important because having the ability and enjoyment of working with other people in a team is a useful skill. A sincere liking and respect for other people is a wonderful asset. Being well liked will certainly help in working in teams or any other social situation. Humor and warmth are effective in order to be a good team member. A follower who focuses on positive thoughts by filtering out negative ones is on the trail of leadership. President Dwight D. Eisenhower often said, “No pessimist ever won a battle.” People who have a positive outlook on both life and specific situations tend to achieve their goals more often. The choice and determination to maintain an event-tempered disposition come what may; hence the ability to smile in the face of adversity and make things a little brighter for everyone.
For something to be both morally relevant and invariably relevant, it means that the subject, in this case generosity, cannot change in its importance. This means that if we give a value system to acts, a certain act will always have the same value points. To put this into more concrete terms, if generosity has a value of positive points, it must always have positive points if it is invariable relevant. For something to be morally relevant, it has to be important in determining whether an action is moral or not. As an example, take Cans Around the Oval. If I were to donate food to the program, I would be generous; I would have +100 points. But what would happen if the food I donated was expired, taking this further, what would happen
Why is generosity important? Being generous can make people feel great because they feel like they made someone happy. Generosity is one of the most important traits that my family taught me. Generosity is being nice and not expecting something in return. Doing good deeds with good intentions will lead to beneficial results. Throughout life, everyone develops a trait from their family or friends that usually sticks with the individual for the rest of his or her life.
Characteristics a feature or quality belonging to a person, place or thing and serving to identify it. There are many personal characteristics that can define a person as an individual; some characteristics determined if a person is nice, disrespectful, intelligent, or not intelligent but it determines how a person interprets you. I believe that every individual has integrity as one of their characteristics, but my top three characteristics are Integrity, Compassion, and hard-working and for the person who carried me throughout my whole life “my brother” his characteristics would be his responsibility.
