The second I stepped onto the campus, I knew that it was where I wanted to be and I felt like I was at home. The atmosphere felt friendly and family-like, the campus and the surrounding area was beautiful, academics are amazing, and the athletics and their facilities are great. The most appealing of these factors to me was the outstanding criminal justice program. This really caught my eye because my long-term goal after college is to work in the criminal justice field as a criminal investigator or a crime scene investigator. Not only does UNF have a great criminal justice program with outstanding professors that were, at one point, in the criminal justice field, but they also have great ties with the FBI and Jacksonville Sheriffs Office, …show more content…
Over the past few years I have volunteered as an usher at my church, as a food vender at the PGA Honda Classic, helping my best friends mom in her classroom, working a food stand at a local softball tournament, as an assistant coach to a 10U travel softball team, and as a camp counselor at a softball camp. Personally, I think that being an assistant coach for a 10U travel softball team helped shape me a lot. Helping coach the younger travel team felt great to give back to the community, and it made me think of where my own softball journey began. I absolutely loved coaching the younger girls because I am now much more experienced in the game and can help them a lot more and get them stronger so that they can excel more in the game. I want them to love the sport just as much as I did when I was younger so that their love for the game will grow even more just as mine did. Coaching these girls was one of the best things I could’ve ever done. Talking to the girls about when I started softball, what my favorite part of the game is, going to college to play the game I love, how much they love the game now, and how they’ll all be in my shoes in a matter of years had me grinning from ear to ear. I loved every minute of it, I loved hitting to the girls, working on their fielding, pushing them to be their best, making sure they put 110% effort into everything they did, and
UTK is more than just a school. It is a family. Nowhere else in the country will you find such a loyal, passionate fan base that spreads so far beyond campus. .The tradition of an exceptional athletics program will leave any student boasting with pride. Neyland Stadium, it's one of the largest football stadiums in the United States in terms of its capacity. It can hold up to over 100,000 fans! It has a great sports program and Saturday football games have a culture and life of their own. Every student should at least attend one football game in their time attending UTK. The atmosphere there would leave you speechless. It will definitely be one of the memories that you will cherish from your days in college. The last reason is that no matter what background one might have, they will always be a part of the Volunteer family
I tried out and made my highschool team. While playing on my highschool team I joined a travel team for the Brooklyn Cyclones while still playing for my church’s high school team. My passion for softball could not be taken away from me. Even when I failed, I did not give up on my dream. Giving up on my dream of being successful in softball would be equivalent to letting down my past self who was just a little girl who fell in love with softball. Playing softball was my parents way of wearing me out, but it was my way of getting away from the problems of the real world and into a world of my own. Between two white chalk lines nothing else mattered, but playing the game I fell in love with when I was only ten years old. On the field, I was able to feel pure bliss. Playing softball for seven years has not only given me joy, but it has also taught me life skills that I use from day to day. I learned to work as a team to achieve a common goal, to communicate with others better, I have learned to cherish my wins while accepting my losses and I have learned no matter what happens in life, you always have to put your heart and soul into everything you
The importance of softball in my life goes unnoticed by others, but I owe everything I am to this sport. I am an organized, cooperative woman who does not let failures affect my work ethic. Although my friends and family do not give my softball career much credit, I am confident that the lessons I’ve taken away from this sport have proficiently prepared me to step up to the plate and score a successful
When the cross country season started in August I became a mentor for the new runners. I was still a runner but now I was doing my running through my peers. During each practice I would lead everyone in stretching and would follow with encouragement on my bike during runs. The freshman looked up to me as if I were an assistant coach and I knew I had done the right thing in being there every day for
The individuals within our society have allowed we the people to assess and measure the level of focus and implementation of our justice system to remedy the modern day crime which conflict with the very existence of our social order. Enlightening us to the devices that will further, establish the order of our society, resides in our ability to observe the Individual’s rights for public order.
Today our world is filled with crime. The people committing these crimes must have a consequence for their illegal actions. The system in place to keeping everything fair and safe is called the criminal justice system. This was put in place to ensure there is fairness and justice served to people who break the laws set up by the government.
Kayleen went through a tough time when she was twelve years old and had difficulty throwing the larger softball. Her catching coach at the time, Stacey Farnworth, talked her out of quitting softball by building her confidence. Another catcher, Jen Schroeder, who played for UCLA, is one of Kayleen’s biggest role models. Kayleen says that she learned most of her leadership skills from Jen. Before Kayleen went to college, she coached with Jen at a catcher’s clinic where Jen told her to speak up on the field if she wanted to be recruited. Kayleen looks up to Jen for her knowledge behind the plate, but moreso because Jen exudes confidence both on the softball field and in
The career path I’m most interested in is counseling psychology, specifically mental health counseling. My interest in counseling began my freshmen year of high school when I had to do a project on what I wanted my future career to be. At the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do and a family friend suggested I look into music therapy. That sparked my interest in going into the psychology field and once I thought about how much of an impact I could make in people’s lives by doing counseling, I’ve never wanted to do anything else.
Something happened my sophomore year of high school that little did I know would change my perspective, not only of myself, but life in general. I was looking for something new and exciting to enhance my high school existence and decided to give the Criminal Justice Club a try. I was familiar with the advisor of the club, but knew that the club had astigmatism for attracting those students who were just looking for something easy to do. I knew about the criminal justice system, but only what they show on Law and Order. However, I immediately fell in love, not only with the club but the entire prospect of Criminal Justice. I stepped into the club as if it were a place I belonged and easily became a leader. I was able to learn things the TV shows
This career option as an assessment employer for the child protective services could possibly be a long-term career option. Although, I do not believe I would want this as my long-term career goal. Choosing to work directly out of college would also allow myself to gain experience within the field which would improve the possibility of getting a better job or getting into graduate school. If I was hired and I did accept the position within five years my goal would be to continue working while attending school to further mu education. I would continue to work to gain more experience as well as helping me get through school by paying off my tuition. I would not leave this job until I graduate and had another job lined up.
I have read the couse syllabous and have located as well as navigated the Atomic Learning folder. I am majoring in Criminal Justice. I completed the pretest 8/16. My hobbies are playing music, currently I am in the ICC Hard Bop Jazz Band, I am a SCUBA diver, and a motorcycle rider.
Job shadowing is very vital to knowing what career field you are interested in. You can learn valuable information and even meet important people. For as long as I can remember, I knew I was destined for the medical field. I can recall being as young as seven, reading books about human anatomy and watching shows that shadowed real life doctors. I was hooked from the start. Eleven years later and this passion still burns strong within me. It is my goal in life to help those in my community. For this reason, I will be pursuing a career in forensic pathology. My journey will begin at Cal State Fullerton where I will work to obtain a B.S. in Biological Sciences.
Have you ever thought of going to the police academy and serving your community? That’s exactly what my father Jerald Perkett did. Jerald sat down with me at the kitchen and was in his regular work clothes, a quicksilver shirt and jeans. He looked very serious and ready for the interview because he was very familiar with interviews. I looked at him and slowly let out the words, “are you ready?” and the first question came.
As a child growing up; you are told to respect your elders, follow the rules, and be a kid. Some children, if not all, have some bumps in the road. Surely, most of us have rebelled at times; as a way to communicate to our parents. However, sometimes children’s actions can be a result of an accident, but deemed to be intentional. We all have had a time ,as children, when we were in trouble but it wasn’t our fault.
