Ethical behavior and development are traits and skills that are always improving. Although the skills are improving the basic make up remain the same. The ability to incorporate character, morals, and values encourage a person’s ability to enhance the ethical behavior of an individual. This paper will define the ethical system used to best develop a person, discuss the potential effect that can become beneficial to the corporate environment and explain why organizations need ethics within the company.
Ethical System
Born into a single parent family character, values, and ethics became a part of life in the hope of becoming the best person possible in society. Mother thought that character, values, and ethics could keep her children on the right path when she was unable to be there. These skills still hold value to this day however developing into an adult those skills became develop and well defined. Obtaining at job at 16 was a way to help further develop these skills. At six 16 waiting tables at a local restaurant taught additional responsibility. The ability to make additional money for the household and personal use showed respect and responsibility to mother and others. From these skills learned, an individual can adapt to the situation surrounding them and maintain key character, values, and ethics. These key skills make up a duty-based ethical system.

An example of this would be, if a child knew that they were to get rewarded for things similar to potty-training or performing well in school, then they would try to do their best. The child will carry these lessons with them as they grow and mature. In this paper we will be discussing Kohlberg’s theory of moral development, giving insight into what other factors may affect the development of morality, and dissecting parenting, placing emphasis on parenting and its effects that it may have. These can also be changed by environmental factors as well, but both our genetic makeup and the environment we experience will influence our overall development, including our moral development (Srivastava et al., 2013).

The nature of human beings is dictated by several factors that include the idea of nature and nurture. I believe one of the most important factors in this case is nurture since it works concurrently with the nature in shaping someone’s personal conduct. Nurture helps to instill certain moral ideals in a person so that they are able to cope in their own surroundings. The main role I find that moral ideals take in shaping human nature is the fact that they help in creating human beings who live in accordance with societal moral ideals. Moral ideals then form ethics and ethics help in guiding our human behavior. This paper explores my own personal views on the relationship between human ethics and certain topics that have a great bearing on human life and their behavior within the society.

Ethics is the application of one’s personal beliefs and the impact on how a person makes decisions regarding the relationships involving a company. The most common agents that involve a person’s decisions are owners, employees, customers, clients, suppliers and communities, according to Robert Audi (Audi, 2009). A person’s beliefs are often the determining factor in whether an action is considered right or wrong. Although ethics are often not explicitly displayed, a person with any sort of moral belief tends to have a grasp about what is considered ethically right or wrong. These obligations attempt to create a mirror image of how one would expect to be treated themselves. Audi states that there are ten moral obligations that serve as a model for how to assess ethical dilemmas. The following obligations are moral obligations that help to assess ethical dilemmas: justice, non-injury, fidelity, veracity, reparation, beneficence, self-improvement, gratitude, liberty, and respectfulness (Audi, 2009). Once these moral obligations are engraved into someone’s mind, it is much easier for a person to make a decision based on ethical grounds.
