Some people are influenced by the family, friends, and teachers because they are someone who we spend a lot of time with. As for me, when I was ten, I met an ordinary worker who was quite strange to me, and she had a profound influence on my life. When I leaf through the old photo albums, I cannot help recalling the experience when I met an old woman on a hiking trip with my parents. Because it was very attractive to watch the spectacular sunrise at the top of the mountain, the resort area provided a variety of mountain huts for tourists to live in. When I reached the foot of the mountain, I saw many people with baskets on their backs standing in front of the gate. Through the tour guide’s explanation, I learned they were porters who helped lodgers carry the baggage up to the huts. Even if it was a manual job, they only earned a little money. …show more content…
Though the old woman struggled to make a living every day, she still fulfilled with hope towards the life. On the contrary, I grew up in urban areas, but I did not appreciate what I had and usually complain the life that did not meet my expectation. After the conversation, I thought I should cherish my current life rather than being dissatisfied with it. Having decided to live in the mountain huts, we asked the old woman to carry the baggage for us and paid her twice, because I thought her hard work deserved more money. In addition, the way people treat you influences your character or personality a lot. This is shown in Frankenstein’s monster when he has an idea to make a young friend. He felt like a young clean soul that has not been tarnished with all of the judgements of society would be a perfect individual to befriend. This is shown when the story states, “I drew his hand forcibly from his face and said, "Child, what is the meaning of this? I do not intend to hurt you; listen to me." He struggled violently. "Let me go," he cried; "monster! Ugly wretch! You wish to eat me and tear me to pieces. You are an ogre. Let me go, or I will tell my papa." (Shelley, 170). Just because of the way the monster looked to the child, he viewed him as evil and wanted to get his papa. All the creature wanted to accomplish was to attempt to befriend a young boy to show the people that he wasn’t an evil being. The fact that the young boy treated the creature as a mutant made him want to run and get help. The boy didn’t care that all the creature wanted was to be friends so that somehow society would treat him as an
Later the poor and inculpable man came outside to throw the garbage. Did you ever think about how the environment you grew up in shaped your character and about how you would be different if you grew up somewhere else with different people? How people treat you and what you experience strongly affects their understanding and acting in the world. I noticed that for the first time when I came to America alone knowing that I’ll leave everything I know and all the people who made me be the person I am today. After only a few weeks I wondered what kind of a person I would be if I grew up in America, sharing all the experiences my new friends made in the past. In which way would my appearance to people be different? In addition different people also see one and the same person in different ways. And this doesn’t only

My aspiration toward a better education starts all the way back to when I started school in Russia. Out of the short educational experience that I had in Russia, I remember that almost everybody wanted to be the straight-A student (or straight-"5" by Russian grading). That, combined with the constant pressure from my family helped me get excited about school and made me want to learn. My education in Russia was cut short, however, when we moved to the United States.
