(An evaluation on Everything Stuck to Him and how the ending makes the ending and the story clear.) Each story is made up of little moments. We are defined by the different moments and it becomes who we are. When we are young our life was made up of different experiences that happen. We learned to walk when we were one year old and now that is one of the only ways we can get around. Little children soon learn how to say different words starting with Mon and Dad, but eventually they learn the full English language. However, if they were born in another country their first words could have been Vater and Mutter. The place people live creates different experiences and when this happen we see different people form. Our experiences determine who we are. People who are beaten usually have a different personality than those who grow up in a well functioning home. Some of the children are still wonderful people, but it can influence what they do. A girl or boy might choose a different career because of their problems they have experience. There have been moments when I have heard that people want to help others because of what they experienced. When watching a little baby start its life premature a sister or cousin might watch and decide that some day they want to help other little children. In a story words are the moments, words that add up to what it known as the end. And at the end we have to figure out the meaning. In the end of Everything Stuck to Him, by Raymond Carver, you understand the relationship of the daughter and father, along with the idea of what the father had to do, but you also realize the happiness didn’t last and make it through the test of time. Raymond described how the father and daughter weren’t on the best of ... ... middle of paper ... ...fe, but the ending it what ties the rest together. The father and daughter have a ruff relationship. The daughter hasn’t seen where the father lived and they don’t seem as if they are very comfortable in the presence of each other. They don’t have a relationship people strive for. However, we saw the father take responsibility for his family. They we young and he stayed with them. He knew it was his job and he didn’t leave them alone. In the end you could tell it didn’t last. The last line shows that the cold or problems got in. The mom wasn’t in present day story. Telling you something went wrong. It wasn’t truly a happy ending. People use moment to live and we strive to do our best, but problems occur. How can you make your life worth the troubles? Be prepared and make compromises. Life isn’t perfect and you have to prepare or your life will be filled with no one.
In conclusion, the story describes that life changes, and nothing stays the same throughout it. It is in the hands of the people to decide that how they want their life to be. They can make it as beautiful as they want to and they can also make it worse than it has ever been
...story, this made me think that finally the serial killer is caught but that turned out to be nothing, still having the suspense of when the real serial killer will come in hand. But against my every envisagement, the serial killer came by himself to Duncan to get his lost diary back in the lost and found department. This made the chills run through me as he came at the time I didn't expected. This brought the sudden climax in the story making me even more anxious that even though Duncan has found the serial killer, how will he ever stop this killing machine. And finally at the end when the serial killer was chasing Duncan down on the subway tracks, they both get hit by the train creating more anxiety in my mind that how will Duncan ever survive this kind of blow. But in the ending he survives and the serial killer dies, thus creating a happy mental picture in the end.

...ther is losing her daughter to time and circumstance. The mother can no longer apply the word “my” when referring to the daughter for the daughter has become her own person. This realization is a frightening one to the mother who then quickly dives back into her surreal vision of the daughter now being a new enemy in a world already filled with evils. In this way it is easier for the mother to acknowledge the daughter as a threat rather than a loss. However, this is an issue that Olds has carefully layered beneath images of war, weapons, and haircuts.

Nonetheless, this really is a tale of compelling love between the boy and his father. The actions of the boy throughout the story indicate that he really does love his father and seems very torn between his mother expectations and his father’s light heartedness. Many adults and children know this family circumstance so well that one can easily see the characters’ identities without the author even giving the boy and his father a name. Even without other surrounding verification of their lives, the plot, characters, and narrative have meshed together quite well.
